August - September 2013 Room-only Discounts

I would not bet on it. could you call after your meeting? Have a friend call as you?

I can call after, just concerned that the Room Only offer will go fast. Unneccessary concern? I'm hoping for either POR or CSR at 25% off. (Still haven't decided which I want :rotfl:)

You will get a room, you might have to make an on the fly decision on resorts or room views. IF you would have to book CBR, or a room view you don't want, keep calling back (maybe once a week or so). Sometimes rooms open up as people change their minds, or cancel, or WDW decides to take advantage of the interest and open up more.

One year, Disney upgraded a bunch of people from Pop Century to Old Key West with free dining.
Some people SAVED money in the upgrade, because at the time you had to pay for a fridge, and they had paid for preferred, and they were billed for standard Pop prices, no fridge, at OKW.

This was so Disney could offer MORE FD at Pop, because people wanted it.

[Worked good for disney too. They tricked people who normally stay at a value into getting used to a home away from home, and made them all very happy in the process. Well played, Disney, well played.]

I have a 2-bedroom villa at BLT booked the last week of August. Is this room not eligible for a RO discount? So disappointed.

I just booked Art of Animation and then saw this thread!

As a first timer going to Disney, should I call them tomorrow to change the booking?

Yes, from your other posts it looks like you will be there mid September in a LM room. If you are booked through the US Disney site, to get the discount, you need to call back in the morning and tell them you want to apply the FD discount to your existing reservation and you will need to switch to another value resort - All Star Movies and Pop Century are both great.

If you are booked under a room only reservation you will have to cancel that reservation and book a new package reservation with room, tickets and dining and have them add the free dining code then.

Great. Thanks for letting me know :)

New to this since its my first time going to Disney. So if someone can tell me exactly what to do for my case it would be much appreciated. We have reservations for Port Orleans Riverside from 8/13-8/20 as a package with 6 day tickets and the regular dining plan. I got one night under the current promotion and want to be able to use the new promotion. What should I tell them do do when I call? Also, if I need to split off the first night of the reservation how will that affect the dining plan? What is the earliest that I can call? Thanks in advance.

So am I the only one surprised that the GF and Poly are only discounted 20% as opposed to what has recently been the standard 30%? We are going in January 2014 and I was crossing the fingers for that 30% (although we used to get 35%) discount at either the Poly or GF. I guess demand is going up as the economy improves? Or is late August just a more popular time in general?

Regardless, happy to see that a discount was released for you late August visitors!

We are booked for the Carribean Beach Resort 08/24/ - 08/31. From what I see on MouseMisers.com, we could possibly get a 25% discount tomorrow on the ROOM ONLY.

However, there is a part of the description that says "If you add Magic Your Way park passes that are 4 days or longer, they will be discounted in the package as well. The dining plan will be at full rate."

Does that mean we could possibly get a 25% discount on the entire package? Or will there be a separate (and smaller) discount on the tickets?

P.S. These various discussions have been unBELIEVABLY helpful for us. We are totally on a budget and are desperate for some savings now that Free Dining is not being offered. So thank you, everyone!

Couldn't leave out all you August folks. I went in August for the past few years. Glad the discounts happened without a hitch and at least you guys could take advantage and save a little money.

You will have to split your reservations. Room only on the 13th and package for the rest. I think (I am sure others will answer as well) you may have to pay out of pocket for food on the 13th and get the dining plan for the rest of your stay. Phones open at 7:00 am

I'm on hold (technical difficulties?!) and it's awful because the hold music is making me so emotional! August is too far away!!

yay! just moved to POR Garden View to get the discount. Added a night, and its still cheaper than we were paying before. Woohoo!!

I booked a package with tickets with the Disney Visa. Unfortunately, only the room was discounted, not the tickets.

The late August discount is the worst deal yet. It is truly Room only and does not apply to tickets like the early summer deal. I saved a whole $140 on my vacation. POP 6 nights, 7day tickets with PH and WP + QS dining for 2 adults and 2 kids regular $2854 I paid $2714 (Aug 24-30). better then nothing but the same vacation a week later with free dining would have been $2231.

Oh well, I will keep an eye out for a better deal, but I'm still excited about the trip. We are in FL for 2 weeks and have already booked a 2 day package at Busch and a 4 day carnival cruise to the Bahamas. Should be a fun vacation.

Does any one know if the early summer discount was Room Only when it first came and the ticket deal was added later?? A 20% ticket savings will take another $300 off my total, bringing it closer to the FD total.

I think the website is imploding now. I got my WL reservation at a few minutes before 7 with no problem.

We're staying 6 nights at POP, 5 day base tickets, paying dining out of pocket. The "discount" saved me a whopping $73. Dining would have been $1320 for this family of four "adults"----much better savings than $73!!!

Yeah, my savings for a package at CBR were pretty poor, too. Kind of weird there is no discount whatsoever on passes. Keeping my eyes out for something better to come up.

Wish I was one of the lucky ones who got through with minimal wait. I've been on the phone for an hour now, still waiting...! :worried:
