We will be there from August 1 - August 8th at POR. Dh & I, and DD 12, DD10and DS8! This will be our first time at POR!

I have made all our "on paper" tentative plans for park days/ADR's! Of course I will go over them once more when the hours come out and I can actually make my ADR's!

We are planning/hoping to eat at:

Coral Reef - dinner
CRT - lunch
Chef Mickey's - dinner
Ohana's - dinner (1st time)
50's Primtime - lunch (1st time)
Crystal Palace - breakfast

We will do some counter-service...definately Cosmic Ray's and a few meals at the food court at POR.

We go every August. Heading down Aug 17 - 21 Hard Rock, then over to Disney Coronado Springs Aug 22 - 25th.
Can't wait.
Come on with the August park hours already:woohoo:

Checking in again - we'll be at Pop incidentally for your list.

This is my tentative plan:

Mon, August 24 - arrive 1:38, ME to Pop, check-in and head to Epcot - Garden Grill (dinner)
Tues, Aug 25 - EMH at MK - lunch CS, dinner at 'Ohana
Wed, Aug 26 - Epcot - Le Cellier (if and when I can get it), CS one meal
Thu, Aug 27 - EMH at MK - lunch at CP, dinner at Pop
Fri, Aug 28 - AK - lunch at Tusker House, dinner at Pop
Sat, Aug 29 - DHS - CS lunch, dinner at Whispering Canyon
Sun, Aug 30 - EMH at Epcot before returning to Pop for ME around 1. CS at Epcot.

But I'm not sure about any of this because of course all the park days and EMH's are a guess from July. And now my son says he wants to do 50's Prime Time and I was just reading a thread about Chefs de France and think I want to do that. But don't know what to take out!! I NEED another Epcot day!

We are heading back on Aug 5-13th. We are staying at AKV Kinadi. Soo excited. We have stayed at OKW for the last 4 years. I will miss OKW but soo excited to try the new resort. I also have made my paper wish list of ADRS== hoping to get CRT, Ohana's, Le Celliar, Chef Mickey, Crystal Place and a few more i haven't figured out were yet. I want to take dd6 (next wk) to CRT for a girls only breaksfast. She is at that magical age to still believe in princess.

yeah for all us that braved Tropical storm Fay last year. I had never seen soo much rain in the 8 days that we were there. Well actually we ended up being there for 13 days== thanks to faye our return on the Auto train was cancelled so we got an extra 5 days in the parks!! We thought about driving home for a mere second or two then decided we would rather stay at WDW than be on the road w/ 4 kiddos in the back of the van! Soo glad we got AP's last year. We moved from OKW to CR and had a blast. The parks were empty-- it was great. We made such good use of our ponchos-- even had a few replaced since they ripped while wearing them.. It was nice to experience disney in a storm.

Sprinkling pixie dust on all of us August trippers!

We're going down for a (very) quick trip - August 24-29.
It'll be my mother's first time in over six years :scared1:

But! For both of us, it will be our first time staying at POP! :)

We (Mom, Dad, Dad's best friend, and myself) will be there in August as well! We're coming in on July 30th and leaving on Aug. 4th. I've given up on waiting for the park hours, and made a general plan. I like flexibility anyways, and we have hoppers so we can move around for EMH/ADRs and such.

We're staying at CBR in one of pirate rooms! pirate: (Well, Dad's BF isn't, but I am). Hoping to get in around 1, we're driving from Fort Meyer's where my brother is getting married on the 29th.

The plan (hopefully):
7/30 - Epcot World Showcase, Le Cellier for dinner
7/31 - Epcot Future World (if we don't get to it the night before), then to MK and Crystal Palace for dinner
8/1 - 1900 Park Fare for breakfast, AK
8/2 - Back to MK, Chef Mickey's for dinner
8/3 - DHS, 50's Prime Time for dinner
8/4 - back to whatever we want

We plan on taking pool/water park breaks to get relief from the heat.

I will be there 8/15 - 8/20 and will be staying at Pop Century. My plans so far are:

8/15 Arrive around 1:30 pm, no park day, dinner at Chef Mickey's
8/16 AK and whomever has evening EMH, Tusker House for breakfast
8/17 MK with Crystal Palace for breakfast
8/18 Epcot uncertain what ADR here
8/19 DHS with Prime Time 50's Cafe for dinner
8/20 Afternoon Departure, possible Ohana or 1900 Park fare breakfast

Kennythepirate-Thanks for compiling the list! We are staying at CBR.

When I booked our flights on Southwest I could get a much better price flying Saturday rather than Sunday, so we are staying one night at Pop and then moving to CBR. I think our flight lands at 5:30pm.

I am impressed by all of you that have your park days all planned out! The only thing I know is that we are going to Chef Mickeys our first night. I promised DH that I would "overplan" this trip because I did in 2007 and we were all exhausted. I had us hopping parks every day and it took alot longer than I anticipated, so this year, I will do better. :thumbsup2

The only reason I don't have my park hours planned yet is because I am waiting for the EMH schedule and park hours to be out. Then I'll decide which parks we are going to on which days.

HI disboards friends
My family will be in Disney aug 23-28 2009 .We are staying at the Fort Wilderness cabins. We are driving from Ny . I was waiting for the Aug hours myself. My 18 year old cannot wait to do the xtra magic hours. This is our very first time staying in The world .
Does anyone know since we cannot check in until 3:00 pm ,however we do have park hopper tickets for all our days, Since we will be in Florida already Can we use our tickets on sunday before we check in to our cabin or do we have to wait until after check in to our resort before we can use our park hopper tickets We are renting a house in Orlando from August 16-23
then checking in to Disney .(My 18 year old son for high school graduation wanted to stay in Disney .)We have a 5 day park hopper so really would like to get as much use as possible.
Thanks

Hi! We stayed in the cabins our first WDW trip in August 2005. It was wonderful! You will have a great time.

About you Park hoppers: if they are tied to your cabin as a package, they will be coded as part of your room key, your Key to the World. Thus, as far as I know, you can't use the tickets until you check-in.

You can check-in anytime on Aug 23, though your cabin will probably not be ready for you to 'move in' until later. Therefore, you can get your tickets early, then go back over and move in.

We had the first cabin on the 2500 loop. My daughter and I got up one morning at 5:30 am and walked the 10 steps to the pool and had it all to ourselves for hours (obviously! :rotfl:). DH grilled while the kids and I played in the pool, and we could smell our pork chops.

Oh my gosh, we had such a great time!! So will you!

We'll be there too! August 2 until we head home before DH has to teach the day after Labor day. So, we'll probably finally leave Florida August 27, then wander up the coast visiting family.

It's been a hard year for us. I've had huge pain/health problems this year, so wasn't even sure we could go. I have been out of work for over a year, but our amazing friends at work have kept donating sick days to me, so I haven't lost any pay. :lovestruc Well, three days before Easter Sunday, one of my pain treatments finally worked. AND we're going to WDW!! to celebrate. We've saved and saved and saved!

We bought APs a year ago. All the places and things listed we've never experienced before. The kids decided they'd rather go to Cirque than have Bday parties throughout the year.

So far, I've spent all my time planning our accommodations.

Westgate Town Center 8/2 to 8/9
LikiTiki 8/9 to 8/14
POFQ 8/14 to 8/16
Key West :woohoo: 8/17 to 8/21 ($72/night!!)
????? near Everglades
Dolphin 8/23 to 8/25

No free dining because the plan is fresh sea food when we don't cook, but we want to eat dinner at Boma and Park Fare.

Cirque during the first week
Disney Quest
Mickey's Milestone Tour

The kids have been told that we aren't staying on property except for the Dolphin. Their top resort desire is POFQ. So it's booked, but it's a surprise. I got a AAA rate, but I'm hoping for a super, knock-my-socks-off AP rate.

We need to keep costs as low as possible, because I have a long recovery ahead, and may never teach full time again. And we have to come back next summer to 'use up' those APs!!

Sorry to babble, but it's been so long since I could think clearly enough to plan ahead, much less tell others about it!!

Count me in!
Aug. 16-21
It'll be me, DH, Dmom, Ddad, DS, and DS's DBF. We've booked POFQ with Deluxe Dining! Very excited.
It'll also be our 1st anniversary! Got married Aug. 18 last year at the Yacht Club. So excited to go back to celebrate again!
:woohoo:

I NEED another Epcot day!

we have the exact same plans for Tues through Thurs!!!

I am anxiously:scared: waiting park hours to be posted, so while we wait lets strategize together about how to stay cool, what parks when to go back to resort, any thing!:thumbsup2

I am worried about the heat my Mom is in her 60's and has a hard time breathing so this worries me. She uses an inhaler from time to time and well wear hats and bring our misters in but its going to be hot! we plan on doing rope drop and coming back in the afternoon for a bread and going back around dinner.

Nettii:goodvibes
We travel in the summer:teacher: and have found the 'neck coolers' to be absolutely necessary.
If you're not familiar with them, they are a cloth sleeve filled with gel beads. When wet, the beads swell. Over time, the water evaporates, cooling your body. We get ours from here:
http://www.badgersden.com/Store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=80

It sounds kind of crazy, but they really work. The one day we didn't have ours we melted.

Check out the Disabilities board too. They might have some tips for your mom. However, consider renting an ECV for her. The heat can be oppressive and exhausting. At least read the stickies on the Disabilities board before ruling it out.

The First Aid buildings in the parks are (I hear) great. They have cots and are air conditioned.

Our family has certain rigid rules:
1) One person stops for the bathroom, everyone goes.
2) One person drinks, everyone does.

This allows you (the one in charge) to monitor liquid consumption and output. Keeping hydrated is HUGELY important. If someone is not sweating or urinating in August in Florida it is a BAD thing.

Buy the little fans (battery powered). Simply keeping the air moving is helpful.

Keep your feet cool. The first day I wore my sneakers and socks. My feet got so hot that I had blisters all over the bottoms of my feet. They honestly looked scorched. The pavement is VERY hot. If you buy Tevas or athletic sandals, make sure you sunscreen the top of your foot.

If it gets so hot that people are miserable, take a break. Epcot is mostly indoor attractions, so you're out of the heat. AK is mostly outdoors. With no air movement.

My mom has similar problems. Make sure you mom realizes the difficulties and is willing to do what she needs to do to stay healthy. If she will not take care of herself, you'll need to monitor her and manipulate the group's movements to keep her safe. For example, spending time in Innoventions to cool off, rather than touring World Showcase outside.

I have a question for the seasoned August travelers. I have been to Disney in early September and didn't think the heat was to bad. Do you think there is much difference in the temp from August to September? I am coming from MD where it is hot and humid in August anyway.

Count us in for the Pop .. we are going the 16 Aug--22 Aug.

We went to eat at

Chef Mickeys
Cape May
Crystal Palace
and I dont know where else ..
Chef Mickeys is the main one tho...
