August planners, lets plan together!

Change of plans!

DH is a teacher and they usually go back to school the Tuesday after Labor Day, this year they are going back the Tuesday before. SO.......

We are now going to CBR 8/16-8/25.

The good news is I saved $120 on my SW flights and I get to make my dining reservations a week earlier LOL 5/18/09 is my date...I really gotta ge cracking on the resaurants!

We are also going the end of August into September. We will be staying at ASMo...my daughter's favorite. We usually travel to Disney the end of September. I'm hoping the crowds and heat are about the same. Our school district has always started school the Wednesday after Labor Day. This year I decide to plan our vacation so my daughter does not miss any school...only to find out that school is starting a week early this year.:confused3 Looks like she will be missing the first couple days.

We are hoping to get ADRs at a couple of restaurants we haven't been to. They are Mickey's Backyard BBQ, Biergarten and Cape May Cafe.

We are also thinking on going to Sea World and maybe Universal Studio/IOA. We last went to Universal/IOA in 2006. Our daughter was 6 and could not participate on a lot of rides. We are thinking now that she is 9, she may enjoy it more...not to mention Hubby and I love rollercoasters. Any opinions? Does your family with kids this age enjoy these parks?

Can't wait for those park hours.

Hi Mona - we'll be there the same time - at CBR - where are you from in Texas?

Cindy

Hi Cindy! We are in Houston, but I am from Nacogdoches. How about you? I am counting down the days!!! :woohoo:

We're headed down Aug 14-21! We'll be celebrating the 1st anniversary of my 29th birthday, and my DS will be getting his 1st haircut on Main Street! I've not been to WDW in 13 years (see my PTR) so I'm super excited, though I do get bogged down with nursing school, which impedes on my excitement.

I've made my countdown calendar, but have yet to head to HD to get some Mickey Heads to decorate the fridge with.

We're staying off-site in my in-law's time share. We'll be staying with my parents, and my in-laws! I hope we can survive!

As far as reservations go, I don't plan on having many. I would like to keep the food cost down as much as possible.

On the AK day, I'd like to have breakfast at Boma, since my dad & DH both like breakfast buffets, and then Jiko for dinner.

I would like to do Artist Point for our date night, and then Tutto for my birthday dinner. It holds fond memories of my last family trip, even though it wasn't Tutto at the time.

As far as staying cool, I plan on getting DS a stroller fan. He has a Chico stroller, which is nice, but it gets HOT. I also read that some people keep ice packs for the stroller. I'll use those as well. We plan on taking walks outside during the summer so we can all get used to walking in the heat. Mom & Dad plan on doing the same as well (though Mom needs a knee replacement so we'll see how much walking she actually does). We plan on just taking it easy and doing whatever DS can tolerate at the time. So long as I get to plan in EPCOT & ride HM & PoC, and let Dad ride IASW with DS, then I'll be happy!

I think we'll rent a locker each day to keep some stuff in (extra diapers, etc.) so the stroller isn't bogged down with junk too.

Wishing mom - what is this fairy thing you speak of? I've never heard of it and am super interested in wanting to know more about it!!!!

Thanks,
Beth

We'll be at Sports from Aug 9-16. We're driving from the Phila suburbs for the first time in a few years instead of flying. I think we'll like having the van with the stroller, the flexibility of leaving when we want and not waiting for buses, although I love Disney transportation.
We're waiting on hours to plan park days, but here's our plan so far.

Arrive on Sunday, hopefully by noon. Hang out by the hotel and maybe go to Hoop Dee Doo for dinner

Other ADR's include Le Cellier, Coral Reef, Mama Melrose, 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace and Ohana.

We plan to do each park for an early emh and be flexible the other days, relaxing as needed. These are the days that I'll book non park restaurants since we dont' hop.
We'll head out sometime late afternoon on the 16th for the long, sad ride home:)

Are you serious? Free Ice Water at all counter service restaurants???

Yes, you don't have to purchase anything at all. It beats paying $2.50 per bottle! The water is filtered and tastes fine. It is served in a medium to large size soda cup with ice, lid and a straw (except for AK where there are not any straws.)

We're bringing a refillable bottle that we can hang on a lanyard. If we just give it to them, can they fill it with ice water for free? I just assumed we had to refill at a fountain where the water isn't cold. This would be wonderful!

WE drove for spring break for my son's first trip. We live in Langhorne. I picked up my DH from work in North Philly and we hit the road by 3:15 on a Friday. We did not take 95 until we hit Richmond VA. I can't recall what route we took, but it bypassed Baltimore and DC. We stayed in NC over night, go up and were on the road by 7 am the next morning. We were at the hotel by 5 pm that night. FLorida is longer than you think...stop for your free orange juice at the welcome center! Yum!
We didn't mind drving...we're crazy enough to do it again:) I want to do a dinner show that night...my hubby thinks I am crazy, but I plan to get up and go by 7 am on Saturday morning and get somewhere into GA if possible. It will be up to the kids and what they can handle. The transportation boards have links to driving on 95 with exit information.

Hmmm...never tried it...might be a issue, so ask and if they can't, just get a cup and transfer into your bottle. Not very earth friendly, but it tastes better for you:)

We have driven to FL a couple of times from Montgomery County...it isn't a horrible drive. A couple of times straight thru and once we stayed over on the way down and drove straight thru on the way back. We usually take 95. We leave about 8pm and drove straight thru the night. Dh and I took turns driving, switchig every two hours.

We are flying this year because I was able to get $59 fares on SW. If that didn't work out we were going to take the Auto Train.

I'll be there August 7-14. I'm staying in a Cabin at Ft. Wilderness on the 5-7, going to Universal on the 6th and then Epcot for my birthday on the 7th. I then check into Pop Century for the 8-14.

For my birthday, I hope to do Cape May for Breakfast and Chef Mickey's for Dinner. I want to do the Kim Possible and get a Passport to take to all the countries...then I'll have a birthday card from around the world. I want to make it the best birthday ever, so I have lots of little things on my list for the day...also have to be sure to get into the Visa meet and greet too.

We'll be at WDW Pop Century from August 19th-29th. My dad and sister are going to be there August 21st-26th. And my one brother and his girlfriend will be there August 21st-24th. Already doing some of my pre-planning of ADRs. Hoping the calendar comes out pretty soon here as I would like to work Spectro into the schedule.

Here's our tentative ADR list:

Chef Mickey's - B
Crystal Palace - B, L or D
'Ohana - B or D
Tony's - L
Italy - L or D
Germany - D
50's Prime Time - L or D
Sci Fi - L
Donald's Safari - B
Mexico - L or D

Non DDP

T-Rex - D

And CS we'll make a point of trying to get to:

Wolfgang Puck's Express
Earl of Sandwich
Pizza Planet
Casey's

4 more days till probable park hours - woo hoo!

UUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I can't take it anymore!!!! Please post the hours!!! Sorry guys, I had to get that out of my system!!!

We'll be there August 15-23. Staying at a grand Villa (for the first time!) at Saratoga Springs for 6 nights and then 2 nights at AKV Grand Villa. 7 of us going--me, DH, DD28, DSIL30, DGD4, DS25, DfutureDIL26.

We always like to try a new meal, and this time we are trying out the tea at the Grand Floridian and Trail's End Buffet for dinner.

We also are going to try going with EMH, both early and evening, to try to beat the heat of the day, and go to the pool or nap in between. We usually do a few of them, but we have had some very pleasant evenings at MK lately, with short or no lines for most rides, good parade viewing with no up front waiting. I hope this works out for us.

Happy to join the group of not-so-patient waiters for park hours!

I just can't wait to be there!! My husband surpirised us Easter morning with this trip. Over breakfast he suggested that we upgrade our summer Pennsylvannia vacation to Disney so we had the fastest breakfast ever and then immediately booked our trip!party:pixiedust:

After dealing with breast cancer last year I finally feel good enough to go!!!:cool1:
