First post! My husband and I will be on this cruise sans children. We are feeling slightly guilty for leaving the kids behind, but desperately need a vacation and just can't wait for a school break. We've sailed on the Magic twice before (with kids) and can't wait to go again. Looking forward to meeting new friends and perhaps joining a group for a private tour. Anyone have room for two?

Hi Yow - fellow Canadians.
We are flying from New York on 25th directly to Barcelona, then returning on
8th Sept with AC via Montreal to Toronto - we got a much better price going this way, so we are taking the Megabus to NY on 24th. A more complicated route but we saved quite a lot this way. We are booked at the Rialto Hotel in the Old Town of Barcelona.

So far our plans are similar to most I have seen posted-

Malta - wander around the town, maybe take the bus out to Midina

Tunis - we are planning to take the train into Tunis to see the Medina, then over to Sidi, and return. I would like to include the Bardo museum but have read that it is under major reconstruction and many of the exhibits are not on display at the moment. Did I see someone was looking for extra people for a cab for a similar route? if so plse let me know - I cannot post email address as I am new to the boards.

Naples - train to Pompeii, then back to Naples to taste some pizza!!

Rome - BIRG ticket and train into the centre. We have stayed in Rome previously so have already been into the Vatican Museums and Colisseum, so this time we plan to just wander, revisit favorite sites, and absorb the atmosphere (and eat gelato!!)

La Spezia - still deciding. We camped and hiked the Cinque Terre area a few years ago and loved it, and visited Pisa at the same time, but DD has not been to Florence, so we may do the Disney Florence on your Own excursion ( and pay the $ as it seems a long train journey to do alone)

Corsica we will again wander the town, and hope to take the bus along the coast line to the Sanguinaires area and the beaches.

Villefranche - wander around the town, and visite Eze - we would like to take the bus along the Moyen Corniche on the way there - for the view, then back via Eze sur Mer and the lower Corniche.
Does anyone know if you have to actually go into Nice to catch the bus (#82 I think) that travels the Moyen Corniche, or can you walk up from Villefranche to meet the bus?

We are busy making packing lists at the moment (packing can be quite the event as anyone who travels with teenage girls knows ). Then next weekend my brother is visiting from Scotland. We are originally from Lancashire - I think I saw on the boards that fellow passengers are from there also? where abouts do you live?

I'm trying to catch up on all 50 pages of messages - but am feeling a little overwhelmed!

Hi everyone
I had posted on the main forum asking if there was a library on board Magic - and received replies that there wasn't, but someone suggested that I organize a book exchange among our roll call.
So I plan to hang a book exchange bag outside my cabin (2036) so that anyone who wishes to take part in this book exchange is welcome to come by, pick up a book/magazine to read, drop off a book, etc, and if there are any left over at the end of the cruise I will drop them off at the Cove Cafe for future cruisers/crew to use.

Just to let you know (but I think you might already) there are aways books in The Cove and board games too. My DH and I spend many a happy (hic) evening in there.

Also I note that you were originally from Lancs. We live in Poulton-le-Fylde, a little village just outside Blackpool.

Ah Well seventeen whole long days to go until we leave the Fylde Coast for Barcelona. Not sure how busy this cruise is going to be. To me it seems pretty quiet but only time will tell.

Yikes! I don't know if I want Steve to see this list. He loves going to the movies onboard. I know that he would love to see a number of these. But I am usually so tired by the end of the day that I always fall asleep in the movie. I may have to send him alone.
