Joao, I am incredibly embarassed, my Portugues is not as good as your English-we are looking forward to meeting your family.. the kids are very close in age. Have you booked any tours?

Don't you worry about your portuguese, I lived many years in SAfrica, so English is fine
We are only doing one DCL tour in Tunisia ( Sidi...and Carthage ) the rest we are doing on our own.
Malta..I have been there before...so walk arround the city
Naples... Probably Capri by Ferry, or Naples walk
Rome. We taking the train, and buying Vatican and Colesseum tickets on line
La Spezia.... By train to Piza
Corsega... Walk around for a couple of hours...
Vilefranche... Train to Monaco

DW and I speak French and Italian we can get by....we are in Europe so we choose to do a lot ourselves as we feel quite at home in most places.

Carlota is only worried she might not understand what the kids wil talk about. Her English is very basic. DS Joao is fluent...so I guess they will all get along just fine

When we were on our Western Caribbean cruise last summer many people were dressed up and had on tuxedos. As I am planning to pack I am wondering if it will be the same for this cruise, and whether my husband should bring his tux. Can you guys let me know if you are planning to bring tuxedos and get very dressed up?

That sounds great, I wish we had the courage to tour on our own. We will be on the same tour in Tunisia. We ended up booking a peronal tour guide in Italy and France (Villefranche), my hope was to see as much as possible on this trip (First time in Europe for my husband and children). We have a 4 hour layover in Lisbon before flying to Barcelona on the 27th; we were thinking of taking a taxi tour of Lisbon-do you think that it would be worth it or too rushed?

On the May Med Cruise there were a mixture of Tuxedos and other formal dress (some kilts and military uniforms) and lots of people in suits. I personally wore my tux and definately did not feel out of place.

There is a thread about this somewhere here. FE stands for Fish Extenders. As far as I understood Disboard members bring inexpensive souvenirs/gifts to place inside FE ( stick to cabin on doors) of the other participating members. Sounds like a fun idea.

We were on RCCL Independence of the seas in the Carebean in April, andvthere was a mix. I just wore a jacket and tie a was ok too. It's really up to everyone. I saw people with just a shirt and nice pants.

Tell Carlota not to worry. Lydia is a very loving motherly little girl. I think children at this age get on no matter what language they speak. Sometimes it is only the adults that have a language barrier.
