August 25 2012

My TA told me that the cheapest the 3 of us could get on our Aug 25th sailing is now $2000 more than I we paid for it!! Yikes! She also told me that the inside staterooms are all sold out and DCL isn't giving any FL resident rates on the Dream and Fantasy as they are selling fine without the incentive. And where is the recession????????

I just checked ours, and yes, now $2000.00 more than what we booked at! I should start making some more payments to get our booking paid off. I like to do a bit each month. I'll have to show my mother the BOOK NOW rates, so she'll understand why we book so far out! :thumbsup2

Hey Judy,

We booked this cruise when we were on our Halloween cruise last October. I booked 2 Cat 4As (2A, 1C) for $3,800 a piece. A Cat 4A now is $8,367. :scared1: Glad we booked early.

Can't wait to see you guys again.

Jeff

First , thank you to I12go2wdw for turning me on to this forum. I had started a thread on Cruise Critic, and didn't have much response, but figured it was because the cruise was more than a year out. Then I come on here and feel like I am late ...LOL. Anyway, we are Chris and my DH Demetrios ( who will be early 40's at time of cruise...did I say that out loud ???:scared1: ) I have a DS who will be 10 and a DD who will be 7 at time of sailing. I am a RN and DH is an architect. We live in Putnam County NY, about 1 hr north of the city. Have not told the kids yet, and not sure when to tell them..DS birthday in June (10) but don't want DD to expect another trip for her birthday in October. Plus our 15 year anniversary will be in September. Dh and I have cruised 6 times ( 5 on Carnival, and 1 on Celebrity ) but never with the kids. Looks like we will be with an awesome group. Booked late May and after initial sticker shock..we are in cabin 8582. Now that our category went up over $2000 and actually looks sold out, I am glad i convinced my DH when I did. Tried to get another family to join us, but the price went up before they made a decision and are out :sad1:. Right now have second seating, could someone tell me what time that is, and any opinions on what is best with a 7 and 10 year old....and parents who always did late seating on previous cruises because we like to stay poolside as long as possible. Funny thing...read and caught up on all posts to date and was going to introduce myself when phone rang...it was Mickey Mouse calling to tell kids about cruise...I had booked call for next 8/11...confirmation e-mail says 8/11/12...will have to look into that. Thanks for listening to me babble...can't wait for the official countdown to begin...I am already making my husband crazy:woohoo:

Hi Chris and welcome! We're all excited about the cruise too. I'm sure you will love cruising on Disney. Our family has a hard time cruising on any other cruiseline.

I think dinner seating on the Fantasy will be the same as the Dream which are 6 and 8:30. We've always done early seating but a lot of people with kids do the late seating and love it. One thing I believe the kids club offers is to come and get your kids towards the end of dinner so you can finish leisurely and take in some of the entertainment after dinner while they have fun in the kids club. Our little ones loved going to the kids club till late. They have lots of fun activities.

Any night you don't want to go to the regular dinner you can go to Cabanna's (or whatever the equivalent on the fantasy will be).

If by chance you want to switch to the early seating you can put your name on the waiting list. If it doesn't clear before sailing you can try to get the seating changed right after you board on sailing day.

I'm sure the chatter will pick up soon. We're almost at the one year mark. Looking forward to reading your posts over the next year.

Elaine

Our next family DisneyWorld trip - All Star Music Family Suite - 8/20/2011
Our next cruise - 7 nights on the Fantasy - 8/25/2012

Hi Elaine -

We're booked on this cruise too -- a dummy booking right now officially, but increasing looking like we might take it -- and I just noticed you're at WDW next week too. See you there! :goodvibes

With a lot of kids back to school here's hoping the crowds will be down a little - and the temps too. We've got our full family group of 10 traveling and looking forward to a great week. Hope you have a great time too. Once we're back we will really start thinking about the cruise.

I see that there are no inside staterooms avail now - but what I found surprising was that when they were available the inside staterooms where priced higher than some of the outside stateroom categories :confused3 I am guessing that people really want to try the virtual portholes??
We booked this cruise while on board another cruise and we were lucky to get the prices that were available right around the time that the 2012 sailing were released (so at the time the inside staterooms were cheaper than all of the outside staterooms). We have two Cat 11B staterooms. At the moment the cheapest avail outside stateroom is double the price that we paid. I am so happy that we booked when we did.

I am hoping that we can convince our former tablemates to join us on this cruise. They are currently on the 7 nite Med so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will rebook while onboard and not go into sticker shock!:scared1:

I am actually surprised at how popular this particular cruise is seeing as so many kids go back to school early.

Hi Chris! We're from the same area as you... Cortlandt Manor (but north of Rte 6)..small world! We'll be there with DS (he'll be 14) and DD (she'll be 10)- keeping it a surprise from them for as long as possible too. I know don't know how long my resolve will last though.

We met a very nice family on our second cruise 8 years ago, they joined us on the inaugural Panama cruise and are joining us again on this cruise. It was a funny story how we met, and none of us thought we would even talk to each other at the table let alone become friends. We had planned to be sailing with our friends and thier 7yo daughter but the day before the cruise their little girl was diagnosed with Mono (and this was during the SARS scare so there was very little wiggle room) and they cancelled their cruise. When we came to the table on the first night we were seated with a couple in their late 50's, another kind man who just lost his wife (like weeks before) and another man and his partner (also a man). At this time our kids were 11, 8, 5 and 7 months. It was awkward the first night but by the end of the week the first couple had plans to come visit us in Vancouver from PA. We keep in touch and really treasure their friendship but that first night was AWKWARD!!!

1.Let me know on this thread or by PM if your group wants to join us
2.Some participants might want to personalize gifts for each group or each family so include your family name, your kids names and ages and your names, either on this thread or to me by PM
3. If we get more than 20 cabins participating I will split the cabins into 2 groups, we want this to be fun not a burden.
4. I suggest one gift per stateroom as the norm, doing something for each person is lovely but not expected, again let's not make it a burden (and think of luggage space)
5. If we split into 2 groups I will split up the cabins by area on the ship so there will be less travelling (possibly forward and aft)
6. Each cabin will be assigned a day to deliver, if you can't make it on that day it is fine, it might even out the fun a bit.
7. You can let me know by PM what you are planning to give if you think it may be repeated by someone else, not mandatory but a good idea.
8. June 1 2012 we will close the FE, any groups wanting to join after that date will be put together to come up with their own group.
9. I will keep a running list of participants on the front page of this thread under the list of cruisers, after June 1 a final list including groups will be made and sent out, along with delivery date.
10. If you think of anything else please lets talk about it:thumbsup2
Christine

We have done this on 2 cruises in the past and it adds so much to the trip. We have received such fun and beautiful gifts, and the kids LOVE it!! I hope you all enjoy it!!!

Hi everyone!! Add us to the FE group Myself JustTJ (Judy), DH (Martyn), DS15 by cruise time (Daniel) and DS9 by cruise time (Tim) In stateroom 6080. I have NO idea what I'll put together as gifts yet, difficult to concentrate on this cruise when I'm getting ready for our DREAM Cruise (leave this Saturday!!)

Just saw via the DCL facebook group the final building block being added to the Fantasy!! They are finished the exterior!! She looks BEAUTIFUL!:thumbsup2

Greetings! We would love to be part of the FE group :thumbsup2 We are Susanne, Jim and DD Alexa (12 at time of sailing). I will have to get the room number when I have access to our documents but know that we WILL be onboard!!:yay:

Hi Guys,
I think I have us all up to date as to who is on the cruise and who has joined in on the FE exchange so far, pretty good turnout already!!
I have been looking at some of the threads on this board about FE gifts and some are just amazing, it is so much fun!!
I guess the next thing we will have to be thinking about is airfare and dining reservations.

We will be booking Continental from Newark to Orlando. I noticed the rates go all the way through the beginning of August which surprised me. We will probably fly down somewhere around 08/21 since we want to stay at WDW 3 days before the cruise.

I check Continental from time to time, but if anybody notices when they open up the rest of August could you post something here. I want to lock in a rate early.

Thanks,
Jeff

We have a $400 credit with Southwest because our airfare from our July 2011 WDW trip dropped drastically after we purchased it......I'm hoping to book with them to use that up. I have until Spring 2012 to use the credit or lose it.
