Question: If my husband is cleared to go on the cruise by his surgeon, is it easy to get an umbrella to sit under at CC, at least? We were not able to rent a cabana. Just worried about his comfort. Wondering...

I am usually on the family or snorkeling beach, and there are a lot of umbrellas.

There are also things to do on the ship while it is docked at CC, another possibility!

Never had a problem getting an umbrella, but we are generally out pretty early.

How is he doing?

The night before we were leaving on a weekend trip last summer our DD(10) had her appendix rupture.

Well--We are in need of some pixie dust! My sweet husband had an unexpected appendectomy last night. They thought they might be able to do it laparoscopically but it was too involved and they had to make a fairly large incision. He's a physician and we were 3 hours from home when it hit. Wouldn't let me take him to the nearest hospital--Made me drive him to where he works. We are hoping that we can still make the cruise. Been looking forward to it for a long time. He surprised us with it last Christmas. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers! dde4f

I just saw this...so sorry this happened but better at home than at sea.

Prayers for a speedy recovery for your husband!! Sending pixie dust your way as well :)

Thanks for asking--He is doing a bit better. Tomorrow will be day number 4 in the hospital. We are praying he will be released tomorrow. He is off of his pain pump and every day seems to be better than the last. I've hated seeing him in so much pain. I'd trade places with him if I could.

How scary to have your 10 year old go thru it. I can't imagine!

Thanks everyone for the answers, prayers and DisLove ❤️

My fingers, toes and eyes are crossed that we will be able to join you for the cruise. My fish extender came yesterday and my cute door magnet has been shipped!

One more week until we leave…. :cool1: Pre-paid cruise parking today; FE gifts are now 100% complete, bagged and tagged - :rotfl:; CE gifts being tagged tonight; packing is complete except for last minute stuff; and getting excited!!!!!! :woohoo:

Thank goodness it happened before the cruise and not "during" the cruise! Glad he is over the hump and I'm sure he'll be feeling better real soon! Pixie dust and hugs to you both!:tinker:

Thank you! Those were my thoughts exactly! So glad we were not on the cruise when this happened! He is healthy and very active. My main concern is that he will over-do it. Hard for him not to be working out!

I wasn't on here for a couple of days...so sorry to hear about your husband and the surgery. Prayers and love your way, and I hope you all get to go on the cruise. More importantly, I hope he feels good enough to go.

Thank you, Linda! He's anxious to start feeling better. Keeps talking about how we are NOT canceling the cruise...

Just a reminder that there are only 7 days left to pre-book (or modify/cancel) any Port Adventures, Adult Dining, Spa & Fitness, On-Board Fun (simulators) and/or Nursery time.

I'm going to begin packing on Monday...As far as dinner attire goes, what do most people wear? Any tips?

Also--This may have been asked previously, but when giving the FE gifts, do I include who they are from? Do folks on the family list generally give one gift per person in the room or one gift the whole family can use?

Cruise casual generally, but there will be one "more dressy" night. However, you will see that there is a wide variety of choices.

Some, maybe 30% go all out for Pirate night, but you should get a bandana from Disney, so everyone has the option to wear something "piratey."

Do you have a special meal at Palo or Remy? There are dress codes for that.

For the Candy Exchange, I do give my Disname and my cabin number. It is optional. What FE did you sign up for, if it is not specific, the gift(s) is up to you. Most groups insist that it is about the fun and experience and no one should obsess about it.

We are en route to NJ, to visit my mom, (94) in a nursing home. I will pack after we get home on Wednesday, but it is only me. DH isn't coming, I am going with a friend who has never been on a cruise. She is a bit concerned about sea sickness, but she has gotten something from her doctor. Everyone hopes for calm seas!!

I really hate rules, so I would say do what ever works best for you. Personally, I love to see who gave what, and for that reason, I like having who the gifts are from. (One time, I asked the person for directions on how to make what they gave me!!)

Last year for our cruise I bought "sea bands". You can buy at any drug store. It helped a lot ;-)
