August 23-30, 2003 "Welcome Home Fellow Cruisers--Trip Report Completed"

I booked through disney, and the packet came last night, I faxed the form this morning, when i got to my desk.

maybe you should check with DU to see if they have inforamtion for you, you can do it online too, through the disney website, too, i think. They are all listed there, with a link for reservations. it probably gives you a phone # to call. The # that I had in my packet was 1-877-566-0968. So, you can look on the website, and call the # to reserve, I would imagine.

Does this sound right to you , Andy?

Who did you book through? I am wondering because we have not received anything in the mail. We booked through DU and I received an email once I paid that had a link to excursions. I really wish I had gotten a book. Does it have pictures? Is there more info than what is listed in Passporter? I am going to have to try and get my hands on a book.

I haven't been getting any e-mail notification about post to any threads for the past day, just checking in on my morning break.

We booked through Disney Vacation Club and the packet we received came from DCL. The booklet is very nice with color photos and discriptions of each excursion. I can't believe my DD talked me into doing the parasailing, the Banana Boat Ride, I can handle, but parasailing??? This should be an adventure to last a LIFETIME!!! My DD is the daredevil of the family, not me!!!

I've got to get back to work, will check in at lunchtime, hopefully more of our cruisers will get their booklets today.

Welcome Aboard xABearx,

I saw your name on the Unofficial Cruise List, welcome to our thread. I saw on lisak1's thread that you will be arriving at the port on Saturday. We will be having a DISmeet on the ship after the life jacket drill on deck 9 behind Topsiders, hope you can join us. If you would like to be added to our cruise list on this thread, feel free to send me your information. Will any in your group be celebrating a special ocassion during the cruise? Do you have early or late dining?

We are looking forward to a MAGICal time on the cruise!!!

Fellow August 23rd cruisers make xABearX feel welcome.

Hi Everyone!

We are getting so excited about this cruise! I can't believe it is almost here!

Welcome to the new fellow cruisers. I have been away from my computer for a couple of days and was thrilled to see more families added to our group. My boys were thrilled too, as they can't wait to make new friends.

To answer some of the questions, we will be bringing game boys but as Mary said just for the plane ride and when the boys want to play as a group. My sons (7 and 11) and nephew (9) are video game addicts and I will not let them chose video games over socializing on this trip. Somehow, I think they are going to be so busy even my nephew who is attached at the wrist will forget his games.

Great idea Lisa, I will take a marker out and label all of the games before we go.

I received my excursion info the other day and am considering the Butterfly Farm Tour in St. Martin and Coral World in St. Thomas. I may also do the package in Castaway Cay with all equipment rentals for one price.

Sometimes I feel sure that I want to do an excursion at the ports, and sometimes I think we should just wing it, and maybe enjoy the uncrowded ship. If I do book excursions, it will be the earliest time so that I could spend a quiet afternoon on the ship.

My shopping update....I got 4 tuxedos for the guys from Ebay and another gown for myself. So far the boys all have new tuxedos and suits for formal, semi-formal and Lumieres nights. I have dresses for every night going from casual to a formal gown. I bought my husband a disney vest and bow tie for his tux and found some disney ties on ebay for the other nights. We still have to stock up on bonine, sun screen and a couple of disposable cameras for the boys. We also have to finish adding to our casual wardrobe for daytime. I am planning to use my digital camera. We do not have over the door shoe hangers yet, but plan to get them. I saw a neat website with a packing list that I got some other ideas off of. If I could just remember where I found it, I will post the link.

Looking forward to meeting everybody real soon.

Tagless also,
Trish

Trish,

If you have a Dollar Tree store near you, my wife just picked up a over the door shoe hanger at our Dollar Tree store. If you can't find one let me know, my wife said they had quite a few at our store.

I just saw Kodak one time cameras in the KMart sale paper that we got in the mail today, the sale starts this Sunday, and the cameras are $4.00 each for a 27 exposure with flash.

Rae519 as she is known on the boards sent me her photo albums of her recent May 3-10, 2003 Eastern Caribbean Cruise. With her permission, I uploaded them into my Webshots account and have started another thread with the links to the photos. The link to the new thread is below. If you would like to see the photos, click on the link.

:wave:xABearx,

I have a question for you, I know the parasailing looks like a great deal of fun, but how secure are you in the parasail, are you strapped in tight??? Just curious!!!

Andy,

Just saw you are under the 60 day mark and just wanted to say YEAH!!!!!

As for parasailing - I did it on Castaway Cay and it is great. You are very secure in the straps you they don't feel "tight". It is a great experience! If you go be sure and take two cameras - one to leave with someone on the boat to take pictures of you and one to take up with you!

I'm envious of you August cruisers - you'll soon be cruising on the Magic. We have to wait a year and a half until our next cruise. :)

Mary,

It will be Angelina and I doing the parasailing, if someone else from our group wanted to go on the boat to take some pictures, do they have to pay the $$ as well, or do we have to get someone else on the boat to take photos for us?

one curious question.... how do you land????? I'd love to try parasailing....never tried it before.

You are secured very firmly in the straps with plenty of moving around room so you shouldn't have worry about turning blue from lack of blood flow....lol.

When I parasailed a number of years ago, I was reeled back in to the boat so it was a smooth landing.

looking at the excursion booklet and booking the excursions did it... DH is finally showing some signs of excitement about the cruise.

Kyle was "shopping" for the cruise in a magazine yesterday and saw a pair of sunglasses that he thought i'd like. He wanted me to have them, so he cut out the picture of the sunglasses, and wrapped it up for me to open! He told me he was sorry that he couldn't buy them for me, it was just a picture... i told him the picture was 100 times better! Those "sunglasses" are going to be my favorite cruise "purchase"!! That was just about the nicest present i've ever gotten!

what a sweetheart! :p

Andy,

I just wanted to make sure that my DW and I would be strapped in, wouldn't want to fall from that height. Did I mention I have a fear of heights???!!!??? Oh, Lordy!!! What we don't do for our kids!!!!!!

It's going up to near 100 degrees today, it's tough walking around reading meters today. From 60 degree temps last week to this, WOW!!!!!

Andy,

I just asked one of the other people on the boat to take pictures and they asked me to do the same for them. Worked out great and I got some great shots. Just let them know what you expect (how many to take etc.).
