August 23-30, 2003 "Welcome Home Fellow Cruisers--Trip Report Completed"

I can't believe it’s so close. It was months ago when we planned this trip and it’s almost here. I’m working on getting dress clothes for the kids – my 3 ½ DS walks around the house in his suit and his dress shoes (he calls them tap shoes) the 9 year old, well, he’s a different story. I hope I can get him to dress up – I guess I’ll just have to tell him no GameBoy if he doesn’t wear the suit.

And talking about GameBoy is anyone letting their kids bring these games on board? I figure it would be great for the plane ride, but I don’t want him spending all his time with playing GameBoy on the ships, but if other kids are playing and he doesn’t have his… (if your kids play this you know what I mean)

Looking forward to meeting everyone on board.

Mindy

OUr little group keeps betting bigger and bigger.
Work has been hectic and I haven't been here much lately! By the time the cruise rolls around, my work load at work will be HUGE and I will be in desperate need or a vacation!;)

Welcome aboard to all the new families joining us:Pinkbounc
I know the kids in my group will be excited to make new friends....especially if they also love video games:;)

We will be hitting the 60 day mark early next week...anyone planning to book excursions then?

Kyle will bring his gameboy, but he'll have to leave it in the room, I don't want him carrying it around, and leaving it laying somewhere. When we actually get there, and he sees how much there is to do, he'll be fine with leaving it in the room.

Lisa

dd's will be bringing game boys, mostly for the plane ride. they will need to leave it in the room. I imagine there will be so much going on during the day, they wont even think about playing them

I've been trying to figure out how to post pictures for days, looks like i finally figured it out!

:D

thank you!! :D :D

Donald has always been my favorite. Along with Looney Tunes Daffy Duck.
Verandah Man's posts always look so nice, I wanted to make mine look cool too.... catch the tag fairy's attention!!

Welcome to our new cruise members!!! Sorry this is late, been busy painting our kitchen cabinets and walls.

To answer a couple of questions....don't know about excursions yet. I think we will wait till we get our documents. Is that too late? Gameboy....yes I agree with Lisa. My kids will bring Gameboy but only to use in the cabin. I don't plan on spending a lot of time in there, but when DH and I are getting ready to head out Gameboy should keep them from getting impatient.

Those game boys are a life saver at times, aren't they?! For the shore excursions, i'm still not sure what to do. My feeling still is Kyle will be happier, left in the kids club on port days. I'll see what is sent with the documents and see if anything catches my eye. We likely will just wing it, and get around on our own. :D

My son Bobby can barely survive a day without some kind of video game attached to the end of his wrists:rolleyes:
Both of my boys will be bringing the GameBoys for the flight, and the car rides to and from airport. I will probably only let him have it during the cruise if he gets together with a group of kids and they feel like playing together, otherwise it will be stowed safely away until the 31st.

Can you believe it cruisers, look at our countdown clocks!!! When we first made our reservations we had over 250 days to go, now it's down to 63 days, just 9 short weeks. Our DD finally got out of school today, and where is she tonight, at a lock-in, at our local roller skating rink. It's sooooooooooooooooo quiet around the house, we had better enjoy it, while we can. Of course tomorrow, she will be sleeping all day.

Glad to hear I’m not the only with a Gameboy crazy (and other video games) DS. I’ll let him play on the plane and in the room also. If other kids are playing I’ll let him take his GameBoy out of the room. One of the best things I ever did with the Gameboy (I don’t know if getting the GameBoy was one of them) is writing his name on the Gameboy & all the games. Hopefully he will be too busy to even think about playing it on the ship. Anyone else have a 9-year-old DS?

My little video game junkie, Bobby, is 9...and he is so excited to be getting a week away from me! He is a social butterfly and I think I might not see him the whole time...as long as he finds some other video game junkies to hang out with! And judging by what I see here, this should NOT be a problem;)
He has an e-mail address if anyone's son want to e-mail him. But I prefer not to list it here, so drop me a PM or an e-mail and I will give it to you.

Well today was my twins last day of school, and we finally told them about the cruise. We told them if they brought home a good report card they would get a surprise. Obviously, even if it wasn't so good, it wouldn't have made a difference, but they didn't need to know that. After dinner we put in the Disney Cruise video and just watched their eyes bulge. They were so excited they were jumping around.
FINALLY, I can talk DH about everything I read here, without having to talk in code. I'm surprised they were able to fall asleep.

Speaking of sleep, it's 159am and I just got back from picking up my copy of Harry Potter. The first bookstore I went to had between 400 and 500 people waiting on line. Amazing! If I didn't find a store with only 50 people on line I would have waited until tomorrow.

Nine weeks from today, we sail away!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :jester: :jester: :smooth: :smooth: :jester: :jester: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Hi DisneyNutMary,

I asked my son if he wanted to email your son but he looked at me like I was crazy (thanks for the offer), but I did see him smile – knowing that there will be other video game junkies like himself on-board. We went on the 4-day cruise 2 1/1 years ago and he had met another kid on board and he also saw a girl from his class. They “ran” around the ship on their own and I think that’s what he looking forward to the most. I guess they’ll meet on board at the dis-meet. He's already giving me a hard time about going to the kids programs (I call them camp), but if he meets friends there then he’ll go. He is looking foward to staying up late!!

I was just looking back to find an answer to a question. I noticed this thread was started on Jan 25. Hard to believe we have been waiting SO LONG. It seems like just yesterday. I hope the rest of the waiting goes by just as quickly!!
Unfortunately, I was never able to find the answer I needed.:(

Here is a picture of the Magic sailing by the Two Palms cam today 6-21-03. Just to get you all in the mood!!!
