August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

Bev, Dave, Nicola, James, Wayne, Karen & Matthew,

Welcome to the States!:wave2: Glad to have you back.

I'm starting to panic a little. I have one more week left at work, and I have a project that really needs to get done. Plus, we had a little incident at the house this weekend resulting in water damage, so now we have to deal with insurance adjusters and contractors before we leave. To top it off, I woke up this morning with a sore throat, and I really don't need to be sick right now, although I suppose it is better now than on the ship!

Happy Thursday everybody!

Glad to hear everyone is arriving safely - wow, the excitment factor is really beginning to rev up

Aurora's mom......ugh, water damage just stinks. Its never an "easy" fix. Hope everything gets fixed quickly.

I think your sore throat might be allergies. When I was driving home from the beach on Saturday my eyes were stinging so badly. It was really bad in south jersey but by the time I got to north jersey my eyes felt better.

I normally don't have a problem with allergies but this year I've had on-and-off sore throats that come and go without warning.

And I'm sure all this stress is making things feel worse. Take some extra vitamins over the next few days to help boost the immune system.

I'm working on getting our FE gifts together and am wondering if anyone has the room # for sandyh67 and angelaRN79? My girls are working hard on part of our gift and we don't want to leave anyone out.

(Professor Farnsworth voice) Bad News, Everybody!

The Space Shuttle launch scheduld for Aug 18 has been postponed to the 25th. On the positive side we'll be approaching Grand Cayman but, unfortunately, we won't be there to see it.

For those who will be there early enough, they are still planning to launch a GPS satellite on a Boeing Delta 2 at 6:35 AM on Monday the 17th.

I was wondering that myself.....are they still part of the FE exchange?

Good news......got my cruise docs today

It is very exciting to hear that some of us are already at WDW. Say Hi to Mickey for me and tell him that Jennifer will be there on the 16th :lmao:
My children have also been helping me with the FE gifts and we are done all of the kids now. My DH is oblivious to all of this stuff. When he sees us delivering the gifts on the ship I'm sure he will be shocked. I think he figures that tinkerbell delivers the stuff :rolleyes1

I've got the car loaded up & about to hit the road:woohoo: After a weekend with my folks, I should be in Orlando sometime Monday:thumbsup2

Wondering if anyone can help me. We have friends who will be on another cruise line, but we will be in port with them in Grand Cayman. We want to meet near the port and then head over to a beach. I'm just wondering if anyone knows a good meeting spot near the port that will be easy to find?

I'm almost done my FE gifts now so I am feeling a bit more relaxed. My son is looking over the computer at me right now and he says that I look like this:
:surfweb:

I haven't been to Grand Cayman since 2004. I'm at a loss on what are some "landmark" places to meet.

Cruise ships tender in Grand Cayman....if your friends' ship is docked in the same place then you can meet where the tender ships unload.

Update! Still panicing a bit about the packing and my work project, but I'm feeling much better today, and the insurance adjuster just left the house. The water damage is on the ceiling in the kitchen, so I assumed the insurance would pay to replace the damaged portion and repaint the ceiling. The adjuster said they would pay to have the kitchen walls repainted, too! Didn't expect that, wouldn't have even asked, but I'll take it!

Was this a little pre-vacation pixie dust, perhaps? pixiedust:

Good news, Denise! I'll be surprised if they move fast enough to get everything fixed before you go, but at least you know all the damage is being fixed - and all the paint will match:goodvibes

So here I am at work, thinking that in exactly one week - 168 hours from right now - I should have the last of the luggage loaded in the car and we should be minutes away from departing the house. Put together vacation fever and short timer fever, and I am going to need all the self discipline I can muster to actually do any work over these five business days.

It may be 15 days until the cruise, but it's only 7 days until my flight!

I totally forgot:

HAPPY WEDDING DAY HEATHER AND COLIN!

Yer killin' me, Smalls!! All this talk of leaving early and being at Disney already or the joy of the open road. My nose is going to be stuck to the grindstone for the next 12 days so that the vacation doesn't get cancelled for lack of coverage. It's not that easy to take two and a half weeks off in five. Well, enough break time for now, back to work. (Where's those dwarfs to whistle when you need them.) :rolleyes1

Vent, vent, vent, vent.......you get the idea.......ugh!!!!! I just wasted two hours trying to figure out how to print out a picture in a mirror image.

I made a t-shirt design for the cruise and bought white t-shirts for the family and the fabric transers but the instructions said I need to print the image in reverse (mirror image). Well, I played around with every printer option on my printer and there is no option for printing the image in reverse.

Then a google search said to check in the software I used and click on image and then rotate and "poof" the image reversed in one nice simple quick and easy stroke.

So much for technology boosting our productivity.

Now we get to see how good my ironing skills are....I swear the only time I use an iron is to make these t-shirts.

How exciting that more and more of us are setting off.....:yay:

I totally forgot:

HAPPY WEDDING DAY HEATHER AND COLIN!

HAPPY WEDDING DAY!!!! :bride: The weather here in NJ is completely gorgeous - sunny, not too hot, low humidity and a slight breeze. Perfect wedding weather.

Safe travels! :littleangel:

Definitely the Disney Magic working its spells. :wizard: So glad it worked out.

My t-shirts came out pretty well....I almost burned the first one as the instructions said to set the iron on its highest setting and for my iron that means "inferno". When the paper-backing started to smoke I knew it was time to turn down the setting.

Two weeks to go! I sure hope these two weeks pass quickly!

A few of us are already in Florida, I'll be on my way in six days. So now I am curious - who is going to be the last person to leave home? Is anybody here planning to fly out the day of the cruise?
