August 2020 Reservations-still going?

I'm seeing a lot of people on here cancel.... is anyone else here STILL going? BF and I have a 8/21 trip planned and we're still definitely going- we're from Chicago so if our orders are still in place, we'll need to do a 14-day quarantine upon return, which is no big deal for us. I'm confident in Disney's precautions and am sure the last thing they want to do is make headlines for contributing to a huge spike, so this makes me feel safe in the fact that they will do everything possible to keep us safe and in doing so, save themselves from a PR nightmare. Also, August is a month away, so hopefully things will look much better by then! It looks like Florida is at a 15% positive rate right now.... Chicago was at a 20% positive rate before we were able to move onto our next phases. So given that, it makes me feel not as worried?

My guess is that by August, the decision will have been made for you. Either Disney will close down or the numbers will start moving in the other direction. The state can't sustain cases at the current level for much longer.

We are from 65 miles west of Chicago and currently are not included in the return quarantine. We are scheduled 7/31-8/8 and are currently still planning on going. I have stocked up on needed supplies. (Hand sanitizers, wipes, masks etc)
It is myself and two teenage daughters who are healthy. We will be careful with the heat and will be constantly hand washing. I am a frontline worker who needs a mental break and vacation with my daughters. One is leaving for college so I will not get much opportunity to vacation with them soon. Enjoy and stay safe.

My dates are July 28-Aug 5 and as of now, we are still going. Since Disney is allowing cancellations with only one day's notice, I don't feel a need to decide yet. Our age range is 19-52, so no "high risk" although I do know that COVID can hit anyone at anyone level of severity.

I was also thinking this. It looks like they have no plans to close the state at this point so I'm hoping the numbers just go down. It'll be almost two months from now when we go, so I would guess that the situation would be a lot better by then

Same here as far as supplies go! My BF is super strict about all of those things, so we definitely have a plan in place as far as our own safety. I'm gonna order some more of the pocket sanitizers from Magic Candle Company so I can have some more fun with it lol!

Another tip I saw was to wear goggles or some sort of sunglasses on the plane to/from. I guess the virus can enter through your eyes, so be sure to do this as well! I plan on bringing lysol wipes to wipe down my seat as well LOL

I have been brining hydrogen peroxide wipes and wiping down our plane for years lol. I was always that weirdo already . Stay safe and enjoy !

I rescheduled from June to August and now have a back up trip in December to Disney and Universal. I am from Pa so I will have to quarantine for 14 days which will not be a problem. I have no doubt that Disney and Universal will do their part, but it is the guests behavior that visit Disney and Universal that I am worried about along with the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Florida. We also have to fly which is another concern. I will more than likely cancel our August trip very soon. I know that Disney and Universal will still be there but I hate this!

We are set for Aug 15-19 and so far still going, as long as the from NY quarantine gets dropped in time.

This is us too. Both physicians, my hubby an anesthesiologist. We just need a mental break and not much opportunity to get time with our kids much longer. We are not 100% but I really want to go.

We are from PA too. The return quarantine is not required, only recommended at this point. We are still planning to go beginning of August. We should mostly be able to do the return quarantine as we will still be wife from home then and the kids will have more than 2 weeks til school, but I’ll still have to make some essential trips for groceries and what not during that time. We have been very good about hand hygiene and mask wearing and social distancing where required during this whole time so I feel ok with it.

We aren't going in August, but I think that the best way to even attempt it would be to skip indoor dining and eat al fresco.
I was thinking about the indoor dining and the virus floating around 🙄. We usually love our table service dining because it gives us a nice break out of the heat into the AC.

Probably a no go for Aug 9-14, but still waiting to see trip reports of how the rides work and how strict they enforce masks. If strict, and thus, safer, we'll consider going if FL Covid #s stabilize. It's a 14 hour drive. We'll decide by Aug. 1.
We are booked for around the same time. I’m waiting to see how it goes after opening also.

I was all in for going and then the numbers kept going up. Between that and a day at our local Six Flags with masks at 92 degrees we are really rethinking things. If by some miracle Florida gets their act together and numbers really go down there is still a slight chance. Don't think we would be comfortable inside with others eating and don't think we would be comfortable not getting any time out of the heat as it stands.

I am really glad I caught an opening at Disney Hilton Head for November so we still have something planned. Donna

I’m still going. I’m going with my boyfriend as well August 10 through 21.We are from MD, so no quarantine necessary, but we still plan to quarantine when we get home for the safety of others. We do not plan to go anywhere that’s not theme parks in Orlando, and are driving in. I feel like Disney will keep us pretty safe. Please take care of Disney for us since you’re arriving the day we leave. :)

We're a go for now, August 1-9. Depends on FL getting its s*** together + our antibody test results. I suspect we were among the unknowingly infected Californians who had it back in February. The symptoms were mild, but they matched those of a number of confirmed cases.

Let us know - I've tested a dozen patients and myself and none of us have had antibodies. That said, a guy my hubby works with who was sick for 2mo and almost died and had a positive COVID test tested negative for antibodies too... Hard to know what, if anything, these tests mean. So frustrating!

Our decision to cancel our August trip really had nothing to do with being concerned about Covid or quarantine. (Were from PA). It had to do with paying full price for a "dumbed down" vacation. We lost our free dining package, park hoppers etc. etc. Even with the 35% off room discount we were offered, we felt the price was WAY to high considering the changes in the experience.

We are scheduled to arrive August 24. As we are from NJ, the quarantine currently imposed on us when we arrive in FL will need to be dropped. I have zero idea why it still exists at this point given that the situation has totally reversed from when that went into place. My kids have been doing great with masks so I feel a little better about that. I am also waiting to see what wait times are like for rides. I am hoping for lots of short waits or even walk ons but will cancel if we have to do long waits in masks for every ride. We haven't ruled still going out yet.
