August 2020 Reservations-still going?

At this point it seems ridiculous that NY/NJ/CT are on a quarantine list for Florida when our cases have been dropping for weeks. Are people seriously just going to FL and ignoring the two week quarantine? I live in a county in NJ that had low cases and my town has had multiple days with no new cases. I feel like I'm much less of risk of infecting someone in Florida, than a person in Florida is at infecting me at this point.

My final payment date is July 29th for our August 29th trip (I thought it was supposed to be 2 weeks out for trips during this time frame but mine never updated). I'm worried we won't have confirmation that our states are removed from the quarantine list prior to final payment date.
I would be worried that the Disney Hotel would make you quarantine if the restrictions are still in place. Everyone's home address is clearly populated everywhere at Disney. Imagine if you got there and couldn't leave your room!

We decided to cancel our August trip, so sad 😭
I think we are too. Too many unknowns. Even if the travel quarantines are lifted by then, I have two of my children without park passes right now, and we are supposed to be staying at Beach Club (dvc). Not being able to use stormalong bay is really a game changer.

We have an August resort reservation but only 3 tickets, we need 1 more ticket! Our DD was a DCP that got let go & until a few days ago she had a ticket on our account but now its gone. So unless we can buy a ticket for her & get the same park reservations as the rest of us, we will have to cancel.
Same problem here. I need one more day on tickets.

We are still hanging by a thread. I made my August dining reservations this morning. I can handle the 14 day quarantine return to NY, but I can't do the going to Florida 14 day quarantine. I've got about 2 more weeks to wait and see what happens.

We too are hanging on by a thread. Everything is in place, just need the governor to lift the quarantine. We live in NJ and can handle the quarantine when we return but not the one in Florida. Hopefully it will be lifted on July 7th.

Slightly related...when is Paid in Full due by? I remember seeing previously that it was 7 days prior to your trip, but I believe that was during the unknown phase of the closure. Has that been extended through October 3 like cancellation 24 hours in advance with no penalty? We are still really undecided on going, and would rather not pay the full amount 30 days prior and then cancel two weeks later.

Oh, I'd like to know if that's an option to pay later, my PIF is this coming week. Keep us posted if you hear anything!

Got every dining reservation we wanted other than Akershus (simply because they aren't doing character dining).

Aug 13 (arrival date): Sanaa for lunch
Aug 16: Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch
Aug 17: 50s Prime Time Cafe for an early dinner
Aug 19: Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater for an early dinner

We plan to sample things at quick service locations for the rest of our meals.

Hi, when do i need to cancel by if my trip is in late aug.? without penalty?

Under the "normal" rules.
  • 30 days out for no penalty on a package, this is also when full/final payment is due
  • 2-29 days out, you forfeit $200
  • After that, you forfeit the cost of the package
I understand Disney has change all this during the COVID era, but I don't see much in the way of posted policy. I plan to make my decision before the 30 day mark.

For cancellations, there is a posted policy regarding cancelling up to day of and not being charged the typical modification/cancellation fees through October 3, 2020.

To provide additional flexibility, we are waiving Disney-imposed change and cancellation fees up to the date of check-in for reservations with arrivals through October 3, 2020. If Guests need further assistance, they can reach us at the Disney Reservation Center through our online chat feature or by calling our reservation line.

We aren't going in August, but I think that the best way to even attempt it would be to skip indoor dining and eat al fresco.

Our plan is QS and then making use of the kitchen in the 1 bedroom. But, as we hear reports coming out of FL, we are now more on the fence. I’ve convinced my husband to wait a couple of weeks to see how things go but I don’t think we will be going. It’s our “welcome home” trip (rescheduled multiple times since May) but we just aren’t sure how things will go.

Another one bites the dust. Or is delayed in the dust ;). Watching the numbers skyrocket finally convinced us to delay until the first weekend of November - I'm on the phone with Disney now. Everything else is fine, but I think I want to give things a chance to cool off (infection-, heat-, and reopening-wise). I have to fly across the country, and even with a nonstop flight, it's an added level of potential exposure.

We’re still hanging by a thread, but our early August trip is becoming less and less appealing. We’re watching the reopening closely and will make a final decision in 2 weeks.

I'm seeing a lot of people on here cancel.... is anyone else here STILL going? BF and I have a 8/21 trip planned and we're still definitely going- we're from Chicago so if our orders are still in place, we'll need to do a 14-day quarantine upon return, which is no big deal for us. I'm confident in Disney's precautions and am sure the last thing they want to do is make headlines for contributing to a huge spike, so this makes me feel safe in the fact that they will do everything possible to keep us safe and in doing so, save themselves from a PR nightmare. Also, August is a month away, so hopefully things will look much better by then! It looks like Florida is at a 15% positive rate right now.... Chicago was at a 20% positive rate before we were able to move onto our next phases. So given that, it makes me feel not as worried?
