Even though it is still 5 months away, I am in full planning mode for our August trip so I thought it was time to start this check in thread!

I've started a list of names, dates in the second post so come on and join in when you have time!

Important dates for August:
Aug 11 - CHOC Walk

Aug 23-35 D23 Expo

Closures:
Hyperspace Mountain - closed Aug 26, 28 and Sept 19
Haunted Mansion - closed Aug 26 - Sept 6
Golden Zephyr - closed Aug 25-31

Information about SW:GE

Know before you go

With the end of the initial reservation-only period for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge fast approaching, the Disneyland Resort has released more information about how guests will be able to access the newest area in Disneyland Park beginning June 24th!
Guests are advised to download the Disneyland App, as that will be the easiest way to access information about visiting Batuu. During busier times, Disneyland may use a virtual queuing system to control guest access to Galaxy’s Edge.
Guests that wish to visit Galaxy’s Edge should check the app, and if the land status is “open,” they can simply head inside. If the status is “access by boarding group only,” then guests will need to join a boarding group. This can be done on the app or at select FASTPASS locations, including Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones Adventure, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, or Matterhorn Bobsleds.
Guests will be notified when it’s their time to enter Galaxy’s Edge via the app and on digital signage in the park. Guests will have up to two hours after their group is called to enter the land.
While reservations will no longer be required to enter the land, limited capacity experiences like Savi’s Workshop and Oga’s Cantina will still require reservations. Same-day reservations will be available beginning at 7:00am and require a valid credit card. Guest with reservations to either experience will have access to Galaxy’s Edge at the time of their reservation and will not be required to join a boarding group. Oga will charge a fee of $10 per person for no-shows at the Cantina and a fee of $199.99 per builder will be charged by Savi for missing a workshop reservation. No cancellations are allowed.

Thank you for starting this thread and (early) Happy Anniversary!

CHOC Walk 2019 has been announced for Sunday, August 11th. Save the date!
D23 Expo will be August 23rd-25th.
We'll be there for both!

I’ll be there August 6-13th with my kiddo and a group of friends. We are all going specifically for SWGE. :cool1:

Yay! More crazy August planners! I'll start the list in the second post as soon as I get to work.

Thank you and I've added the CHOC Walk and D23 Expo info to the first post as well as added you to the list.

We will be there without the kids for an anniversary trip. July 30 to August 4th.

Happy anniversary!

SW:GE is going to totally change everything and I think we are going to have to redefine "busy" as it relates to Disneyland!

I will be there August 17-24 on a solo trip, mainly for SWGE but I probably would have gone anyway.

Yep, will be there Aug 6-9 with my twin 14 year old daughters. Was planning to go anyway before I knew SWGE would be opened.

11-19 August, coming from Australia (NY first for 5 nights), with my kids kids 17, and 10 plus my sons 2 friends who have never been, so looking forward to it, August can’t come around fast enough lol

It's so exciting to see the list start to fill out! :)

We've got a few trips planned before August but with the exception of Mexico in a couple of weeks, this DL trip is the one I can't wait for! :)

I will be in the parks for full days July 30, 31, Aug 1, 3, 4. My daughter, son in law, and 4 grandkids (age 12-22) will be with me and we are staying at the Candy Cane Inn. We have MaxPass and ParkHopper tickets. Aug. 2 is planned as our Universal Studios day. So excited for this trip! The kids have not been for 8 years so both SWGE and Carsland will be new for them!

We've decided to add on an extra day at the start of the trip, fly into LAX and hit USH. We went a few years ago but have not been since HPL opened.

As predicted, the opening date for SW:GE was announced today and there are some very interesting things in the article, especially regarding reservations for entry into the land.

SW:GE to open May 31

Looks like I outsmarted myself for this trip. They are doing a 'phased opening' for SWGE, and it appears that Rise of the Resistance will not be operating for some time. After reading through some reports on L.A.-area news websites and elsewhere, I gather there is almost zero chance it will be running by the second half of August. And since WDW is also doing the 'phased' approach, it's pretty obvious they are following a cash-grab strategy of forcing people to come back again for RotR -- a theme park version of the old video release strategy of the film only, then the director's cut release, then the extreme edition, then the extreme director's cut, etc. Oh well. :rolleyes2

I don’t know, I have a feeling that it will be open by August. That’s already prime tourist time- I think releasing it in two phases allows them to try to stagger crowds and balance out getting those deluxe APs in before they’re blocked out.

That’s my hope!

we will be there August 21-25 for D23 and Disneyland hope ROTR will be open

My family is going August 8 through 15. Hoping I don't have to spend my birthday standing shoulder-to-shoulder in the SW section!

I think I've added everyone to the list but please let me know if I have missed you! I suspect that this thread will be getting busier now that the SW:GE opening date has been announced. :darth:
