August 2014 Car Rental Deal Watch!

Not much change for our dates.......Alamo is still holding on over $900. National still high at $800+ with the KLM discount.

86 days to go :drive: .

Yep, no movement for me either. I did drop from $450 to $388 for a midsize, but it's been at that lower rate for 2 weeks now. I think that's the most I am going to pay for August, but with the KLM rate, all the insurance is included, so that is worth some to me. I also am using the entertainment coupon. I keep hoping lower still. Maybe last minute will show lower if not alot are renting the last 2 weeks of August. I am, so, I guess there's a lot of us doing the same thing.

At Christmas, I paid almost 400, and booked it in September. The rates really increased as we got closer to the holidays. I expected to pay more, as it was over the Christmas holiday. We used the Emerald Aisle and got a camary with 520 miles on it. I guess that was not bad for 14 days at the end of the year, I would have thought the summer would be less, given it's a slower part of the summer.

Oh well. I do have a ressie, so if that's what I end of paying, I will.

Hi I wonder is the entertainment book coupon id one time code, or is it something you can share with us? thanks

Alamo for our dates has been holding steady right around the $700 mark for the last while. That's for a mid-size SUV.

Our National rate with the KLM code was locked in on the 3rd of April for $466.67 (including the $25 discount for the Entertainment Book coupon). Current rates with the same code and coupon are $795 :scared1: .

Maybe my National rate will be as good as it gets.

I will also get Ebates back for the rental.....6%, I think?

Unfortunately, the code is only for those who purchased an Entertainment Book. The rental agency may ask for the physical coupon, so you need the book.

They run some good sales on the books all the time. My boss just bought his for $11 a week or two ago. This weekend's sale is 2 for $20. Generally the offers change week to week.

Just checked Dollar again, and managed to save another $20 off my rental....I am down to $244 for a 10day rental, down from $380 when I first booked it! I am gonna keep checking it. Hoping to get it under $200. Thrifty and Dollar which are basically the same company both have a City Hot Deal right now...To get them, you can not have any other codes in...Worth a check...When I put my BJ's codes in with Dollar, it was a lot more..

Looked today and my rate is still the same used carrentalssavers

My trip to the airport is still a train wreck. Only way up is in 2 cars. Doing rentals to airport as we fly out one and into another and don't have a shuttle when we need it and if I did the shuttle night before and hotel its more money.

I might be best if you go to the site directly...I tried my rental through carrentalsavers, and it was $15 more...

I'm getting a bit nervous about these prices! Hoping for a big drop. We have 3 adults and 2 car seats for 2 kids. My plan was a minivan but the prices are just too high! I'm debating getting a full size but know it will be tight! I'm stalking the sites but never saw them this high with 2.5 months to go!

I did and was shocked to find it the same price.

We are not from the area so not familiar with all the places to rent from. This chain is not a top tier national rental.

I just got a Premium from Enterprises for $348 total. I had a full size from BJs Travel for $413 from Dollar for 9 days.

Hope it keeps coming down.

Would a midsize SUV work for you vs. a mini van?

We have been able to secure a midsize SUV with National using the KLM code for $467 for 15 days....that's about $230 a week, so not too horrible. Of course, rates have gone up since we locked in in early April, but I'm hoping they will decline again. Last August, we snagged a great deal on a fullsize SUV with Alamo, so I'll be watching that one too!

Seeing a little movement again on Costco. I have rebooked with Budget for 212 for 10 days last week of Aug. I get get the feeling we will start seeing more drops soon

That is definitely a possibility. I checked Costco yesterday and the prices INCREASED for our time frame. Ughhhhhhhhh!!!!!

I'm starting to monitor this more closely. I prefer Alamo, so unless something else is significantly less, I'll stick with them. I booked last week (3 months out from my departure date) and it was high a $457 (Standard car for 9 days w/booster seat). Today I'm down to $438. It's still high but also still early. I'll check a couple times a week from here on out and hope to see a steady decline.

I'm down another $45 today on my 9 day standard from Alamo (using Alamo Insider discount) that I made yesterday. Looks like we may be entering into the time of price dropping for August, hopefully!

ETA: Just double checked on Alamo site again and midsize is coming up at a good price right now. It's $40 cheaper per week than the compact. I was able to book my 9 days w/booster for the midsize at $326, that's about $70 less then the standard booking I had just made.

It seems to have come down a little bit.

Alamo is $643 for minivan for 8 days.

My KLM rate of $450 back in April is still the cheapest.

No change for my dates.........this is like watching paint dry!!!

Glad to hear there is downward movement for some of you folks :thumbsup2 .

Have been following the thread but haven't posted yet.

Booked with Dollar, using an economy. Currently down over $100 from my first booking for 1 week. Today saw another $10 drop. Almost under $100 before surcharges!

Thrifty has a city special for Orlando right now. Just put in your dates without any codes (if you put in anything the city special doesn't show up). It was down a bit for my dates - 9 days in a midsize for $288 total. The National rate with KLM code I booked in April is still better, but not by much.
