August 2014 Car Rental Deal Watch!

Enterprise Just dropped rates and i modified my Mini Van Ressie and saved $100. Base rate for 1 week Mini Van is now $320.44

I noticed a rate drop for Alamo too this morning for late August/early September. I used the Visa contract id (7015504). With this id, you have to pay with a visa card.

I just checked out my Alamo rate. I tried a few discounts all at once, and it was comparable to what I have already booked. However, I redid it only with the Entertainment book coupon and my rate ended up being 15 dollars less than what I had with National. Well, not much, but it's in the right direction!

Just checked again today...Booked the City Special with Dollar for 10d at the end of Aug, Dodge Avenger or equiv....Down to $202!!! I am thrilled...Another $40 bucks saved....

My boss is travelling to Orlando in August as well (similar dates to mine - August 17th to 28th). I was able to rebook him yesterday for $289 for a midsize with Alamo using the Entertainment Book discount code and a $15 coupon. He was previous with National at $320 using the KLM Flying Blue discount.

My rates, however, have been doing nothin' :rolleyes1 . $467 (with National) is still my price to beat, August 17th to 31st, midsize SUV.

Prices for Alamo dropped today using carrentalsavers.com. The rate on that site is lower than Alamo directly, even if I put in the Visa coupon codes. I'm getting $261.63 for an intermediate for 9 days (Aug 7-16).

My Alamo rates have been consistently dropping all week at the rate of about $10 - $15 a day. I'm getting pretty close to where I'd like to be already and still a ways to go. I'm holding two reservations (because I'm undecided on size), both for 9 days with a booster seat rental added (it's $60 for the duration) and my midsize is $287 and my standard is $346. I've been using the Alamo Insider discount.

With my Alamo Entertainment coupon, my 9 day rental (8/8-8/17) for a Standard car just went down to $255! We're getting there! Keep the updates coming, everyone! They are all so helpful!

By the way, is Standard larger than Midsize? Or is it the other way around? My Standard rate came out cheaper than the Midsize rate, so I I'm curious! Thanks!

With Alamo, standard is larger than midsize. If you are picking up at MCO, there is no standard aisle. So, standard is full size at MCO.

Just found an intermediate SUV for 284.95 from August 20th-August 30th. I didn't book because I'm still holding out for a minivan. Wondering if I should book and make the best of it. With 3 adults and 2 car seats, I just think a Rav4 won't cut it!! Ugh!!

Wow! I did not know that. Well, I booked a Standard because the rate was amazing. Good to know! Thanks!

Ooohhhh, good rate :thumbsup2 . Which rental agency? (I want to run my dates too!)

You could always book it now and then cancel later if minivan prices come back to something less ridiculous.

How did I not see this thread until now? I am way behind! Trying to get a car August 17-28, pick up at MCO and drop off at Cape Canaveral.

WOW!! A HUGE thank you to the PP who listed this site: carrentalsavers.com. I had booked a car through Costco (who I always THOUGHT was the cheapest) at $471.29 and then checked that site. Now I am down to $339.15!! AWESOME!!

I went through my Capital One card Reward section. I don't have enough reward points, so that was cash payment. I have to see if I am able to cancel through them. I think you have to pay in full with credit card when you book.

I also read that back seat in a RAV4 is smaller than the back seat of a sedan so that makes me even MORE hesitant to book. I think we are going to do a Toyota Camry size car if we can't get the minivan for a good price.

Just shave another 40 off my rental with Budget through Costco. I'm down to $188 for 10 days end of Aug

Did you have to use any special codes on costco website? are you renting from MCO? I'm going for 8 days a the end of Aug and rates are still high on costco.com for Tampa rental, so my KLM rate at National still has the best rate at $220 for a full size.

How did you get a lower rent than on the Alamo site directly? Did you use the "Smart Book" section in the upper right of the carrentalsavers screen to enter your rental info? Because I'm getting the same rate as I would find directly through Alamo's site. Am I doing something wrong?

Just checked my rental at Dollar again....No coupons, no codes...Just using the City Special...I am at 180 for a 10d rental on a Dodge Avenger or equiv....The price just keeps dropping!!

I don't get it.

Minivan for 8 days MCO is still $600+ everywhere.

And what's with the taxes and fees?

Minivan is $400
Taxes/fees $200
Total $600
