I booked a minivan through Costco (Alamo) for $276 (2nd driver free), and we're August 26th - Sept 2nd.
If you're a member give that a shot.

If you're a member of AAA I think minivans are $286 for my time slot.

edit: I just realized that we're flying into Tampa, though you're most likely flying into Orlando.

I was wondering if anyone knew what was available at Budget in the "Intermediate SUV" category at MCO?! I just found a deal for an intermediate SUV at MCO for $283.90 for 10 days. I'm debating reserving it...best price I've seen. However, I'm worried about size. We have 3 adults, 2 kids in carseats and luggage. Wondering which vehicle they actually give as their intermediate SUV.

Thanks Deb....just got a Premium from Dollar $312 8 days and 1 hour.
I'm still hoping to get something with a free additional driver.

Prices took a huge leap (up) today on the Costco site for my dates Aug 6-11

Yes! I have a premium from Alamo for 8/7 to 8/14 that I booked last week at $218 that is now $346 today.

I too am getting a Premium from Alamo 8/16 - 8/30. If you wouldn't mind, could you report here, or pm me if you wouldn't mind, as to what you saw available in the Premium isle? Thanks and most of all enjoy the trip! :)

Looks like there was a bit of a price drop for minivans today on AAA and Costco for Tampa.
I just canceled and rebooked mine with AAA/Dollar and have it down to $251 for 8/26 - 9/2.
Costco/Alamo was down to $266.

:goodvibesIf anyone is willing to help I'd be very grateful! I have tried the Budget and Hertz codes posted in the last few pages, all over 350+ and I don't need anything bigger than a sub compact! :confused3 My dates are 8/22 (10am) - 9/1 (12pm).

I don't have Costco, but do have AAA...

:goodvibes

(I do currently have a car booked through EZ Rent a car, for 212, but I am really REALLY hesitant to keep that reservation!)

The best I'm seeing through my AAA site (NY) is Dollar for $305 (assuming MCO).
Is EZ Rent a car no good? That seems like a good price...

Ez from what I have read is awful at the counter for pushing upgrades (which I can avoid by standing my ground) but even worse has been known to blame blemishes that were already on the car to renters after they have already returned home, leaving you without many options other than to pay to fix them. Thank you for looking

Using the above codes I find a compact for $161, all in (declined coverage) out of MCO.

I'm going to assume you are not talking about my 10+ day rental ?! Bc that would be amazing, but I just did the same think and am coming back with $552 for a Kia rio :eek

Sorry for the confusion...that was for MikeP22. I do have a 15 day rental, full size for $310 all in using those codes Aug 16-31 out of MCO

Wow, I wonder why my 10 day rental is so much more! Pretty great price for 15 days!

Yes. I'll try to remember to post here what I find and get.

Hi Imagineer5 - If you don't mind being a little creative, try the following (I just did) - Go to Hertz.com, select AAA discount, and select 'Managers' special - and break your booking into 2 - First booking of Aug 22 - Aug 25 (you'll qualify for weekend rate = $55 including taxes) and then do a second booking - Aug 25 - Sept 01 - You'll qualify for AAA discount = $172 incl taxes).

Hopefully, Hertz will combine your booking and let you keep the same car (this will cost you under $240)

Hope this helps...

My only fear would be having to bring it back and deal with that on the 25 th? I haven't heard of hertz combining but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try?

I wanted to post an amazement I just had booking a car from National from MCO to Fort Myers for 2 weeks 3 days.

When I put straight rental in for that period it was going to cost me $1100 for a midsize vehicle - That's two months lease payment on that!

Then I thought I'd take advantage of the weekly coupon and try returning the car mid way at Fort Myers and then renting another one under a separate contract.

Turned out a full size rental from Fort Myers is only $180/week! :cool1: I just saved myself $600 by breaking up my rental contract!!!

Not sure anyone else can make use of that but just goes to show that if you are going outside of Orlando, might be better to check out the combinations.
