Hello everyone - I haven't been here for quite some time; and now I come calling with a very strange request... We booked this cruise the first day it was available for myself, DH, DD, and DS. Our two children have since decided that there is no way that they can miss school. DD will be a junior in college and DS a junior in HS. Anyway, is there anyone out there who happened to book on opening day, for 2 adults in a Cat 6 that would be willing to let me know what their cost was. I need an idea what it would be for just DH and myself to go. Our travel agent is out of town and it's really bugging me. You could email me with the information or post here, whatever. Thanking you in advance.
StingFanCB -

One of our cabins is a Cat. 6 with two adults. It was booked direct with DCL in the first few hours on Day One. Price was $2575.89 x 2 = $5151.78

Hope this helps! Good Luck and hope to see you onboard!

For anyone who is interested - of that $2575.89, $279 is port charges and $61.89 is taxes. From what I understand, these 2 amounts do not change at all (not from category changes nor time of booking). I though this might help people compare apples to apples and calculate true cruise fares or whatever!

Hi everyone! I haven't checked in recently because I have been working 16-20 hour days trying to get my grad degree finished up. I am now in the home stretch, about 5 weeks to go, and then I will be able to indulge in all things CRUISE. Until then I can't even hope to catch up on all of the stuff that I've missed, but I'm really glad for the newsletter bcause it reminds me of the big light at the end of the tunnel!

I also wanted to send my condolences to Bob and Melinda. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss :(.

Keep my seat warm for me in chat!

Update on my MIL Evelyn:

Thank you again to everyone for your well wishes for my MIL! She was in the OR again yesterday (under twilight sleep) and they sent her home last night!

Turns out her "abcess" was actually a void from her hernia surgery. The body abhors a vacuum, so hers just kept filling it with fluid until it burst last Monday. They had cultured the contents from Monday and it grew nothing, so it was not infected! Yay!

The reason for the 2nd & 3rd OR visits on Th & Sat was to repack the area under sterile conditions so as to protect the mesh she had inserted/implanted on March 1st. So far the mesh has not been compromised (if that happens they must remove it). Yay again!

In regard to her breast lump, she has a mamogram scheduled for Tuesday.

I know this may be TMI for some of you and others welcome the detail, but for me it's somewhat cathartic. Thanx for listening and caring! :grouphug:

Nancy, that is good news on the MIL.

Lisa, keep going, what a way to celbrate your neww degree. Imagine, 500 plus of your closest dearest friends!

I am doing the wash, DH is out shopping for clothes for vacation next week and his trip to Austria at the end of the month. I think that he will be home less than 10 days this month. Yay! He does get in the way of my routine.

Have a great Sunday all.

Is this what we are here for? It makes me feel a lot closer to you knowing that you all are free to talk about things like this. We all listen and care more than I could ever believe of a group this size and so diverse.

Quick Sunday "Hello" to all!

I am always looking for something new to give to my mom and grandma for Mother's Day. I found something that was advertised in the Oprah magazine. (I've been treating myself to reading it for 20 minutes each night before going to sleep.)

It is called:

http://www.pajamagram.com

Every PajamaGram gift is delivered with FREE:

Keepsake Organza Hatbox (with purchase of pjs, robes or slippers)
Lavender Sachet
"Do Not Disturb" Sign
Personalized Gift Card
Decorative Shipping Box

Sending a PajamaGramSM gift is like sending a mini-vacation. She'll receive the softest, most luxurious pajamas, along with a personalized card, lavender sachet, and a "Do Not Disturb" sign, all wrapped in a beautiful keepsake hatbox.

Treat her to the luxurious gift she might not normally buy for herself…she'll absolutely love it.
We can get it there overnight if you order by 4 pm Eastern time.

*Hatbox included when ordering pajamas, robes or slippers.

~~~~~~~
Going to knock some chores off my list, then I'm going to treat myself to reading Tracy's newsletter! It's my reward. Thank you Tracy, you are really special - you do so much for us SOF, and I cannot wait to read the newsletter!!!
Hope this website helps someone with their Mother's Day gifts!
What a coincidence! It's also my daughters anniversary today!!!
Bob,
With all your kids and grandkids, it must be someones anniversary, birthday, whatever everyday! ;)
Happy Anniversary Amanda and Shawn!
Paul
That is too funny Paul!!!! When I was editing the newsletter, I noticed that your name was spelled wrong (or so I thought), so I reworked the word find to correct the spelling! Sorry Mark! LOL
Welcome "NYdiscruisers" to the DIS!!! LOL!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:
:scared1: Yikes -- I have 42 pages to catch up with. However, before I do, I thought I would post the (drum roll please)......
Budget to Port Transportation Information (FINALLY)>>> :moped:
The following are all the rates I could collect from three shuttle services. However, at the bottom I have also included the approximate cab fares should you wish to just secure a taxi for your family.
NOTE: These are rates from the Budget Rental Car location at 249 East Ocean Blvd. #104, Long Beach to the L.A. Cruise Terminal. Also, all vehicles have room for luggage and include tax (not tips except for mini-bus).
Prime Time Shuttle: [reserver must pre-pay with credit card]
7-passenger van - $66.00 plus 15% tip ($11) = $77.00 or $11/pp
9-passenger van - $80.00 plus 18% tip ($14) = $94.00 or $10.44/pp
Karmel Shuttle: [reserver must reserve with credit card, charged to
CC 10-days before scheduled pick-up date. Cancel
up to 3-days prior with 100% refund]
10-passenger van - $108.00 plus 18% tip ($19) = $127 or $12.70/pp
25-passenger mini-bus - $270.00 (incl. tip) = $11.00/pp
Super Shuttle: [reserve ahead, no deposit needed. Pay driver upon
arrival]
7-passenger van - $61.00 plus 15% tip = $71.00 or $10.40/pp
9-passenger van - $81.00 plus 18% tip = $95.00 or $10.55/pp
Estimated Fares from Pacific Cruise Ship Terminals (from United Checker Cab Co-Op Site). I tried calling their number to get fares to Cruise Terminal, but it would not let me call outside the L.A. area:
LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) $40.00
LBX (Long Beach Airport) $33.00
SNA (John Wayne/Orange County Airport) $70.00
Disneyland/surrounding Hotels $60.00
Amtrak Train Downtown Los Angeles $50.00
So.....discuss among yourselves (and don't get ver klempt) and give me some feedback on what you all want to do. :listen:
My thought is if you are coming with your family members, it might be cheaper for you to get a cab then to pay per family member. :teacher:
For those who have expressed individual interest to me, I have sent you a PM.
Cathy
Definitely --- it will increase your posting count. :cool1:
Nancy -- Now we just have to think positive things for your MIL -- everything will turn out okay. Benign .... :wizard:
Belated Anniversary wishes for Amanda & Shawn :cheer2:
