Budget to Port Transportation Information (FINALLY)>>> :moped:

Cathy

Cathy,

We were planning on having Lenny drop me, Haley and the luggage off at the port and return the minivan to Budget. Is anyone else planning on doing something like this?

Of course since we've never been to that terminal, we don't know what the setup is. Now I'm thinking that maybe we should all return the van so we can stay together. It will be between $20 and $40 for us to get the shuttle (I'm not sure if they would charge for Haley or not). I'm so confused.

One more thing to remember, if a family is taking a cab, it might be cheaper, but will a cab have room for all the luggage? Not sure about that.

Looks like I'll be discussing with Lenny again later.

Reneé - We were thinking about doing something similar. Didn't want to mess with all of that luggage too much! It seems easiest to drop off the luggage at the port and one person return the rental. For some reason I was thinking that the Budget office wasn't that far from the port, but it seems that it is (based on the cost of the shuttle/cab). Not sure if we will go with a rental car or just a shuttle to HISP and the hotel shuttle on Sat. AM.

What is everyone else thinking?

Thanks!

According to the Budget office in Long Beach, they said the Port is approximately 18-22 miles from their office.

OK I've looked at the location of the Budget office in Long Beach, worked out the route with M.S. Mappoint, using the location on the San Pedro location where they say the Magic is departing from and it is 9.7 kms (approx 6 miles or 7 minutes) from the Budget office to the port. :confused3
I think I'm still going to drop off the crew at the port with luggage, drop off the rental car, and then just cab it back. This way I'm not tied to a schedule with a limo (Might see a Costco enroute!!! :rotfl2: ) and I know Dan had mentioned sharing a cab back and I have another of our group that will be doing the same.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Thanks so much for the update invaderzim!
AND thanks so much for collecting all of the info for us!

Wow, in that case -- Budget needs to get a clue! :badpc: Sad how the girl didn't even know how far they were from such an important tourist location. :confused3 Back to school for her...... :teacher:

Thanks, Grumbo, for the info.

We are planning on using Prime Time Shuttle (under age 2 are free) from LAX to HISP and then the HISP shuttle ($3/person) to the port Saturday morning.

Forgot to say yesterday, thanks Tracy for another wonderful newsletter. You are a star keep turning out consistently good publications.

Bill, your piece on things to do before we leave for our holiday made Allan and I smile, especially the bit about taking the battery out of the garage remote control in case anyone is scanning it. The Isle of Man is virtually crime free (and yes, I know that sometime our arrogance will catch us out) and we very rarely even close our back door, let alone lock it. Most of the crime here is to do with domestic violence (not from within our house!) fuelled by too much alcohol and too little to do. You can walk down the main streets in our capital every day and see cars parked with keys still in the ignition and the doors unlocked. The only time we are more vigilant is during holiday weekends or when bike races are on as we have lots of visitors then from England and Ireland. Most of these tourists truly respect the Manx people and their ways, but you can never be sure!

Grumbo:

Just saw some mileage listings on the other thread and saw this one:

Airport to Port
Long Beach 21.2 miles

Are you sure that MapQuest was right that it's only 7 miles to the port from Budget?

Yes Mapquest says 7 miles. It depends which Budget location though. The one at the airport is much further away. The one at 249 EAST OCEAN BOULEVARD #104 is 7 miles away.

Yeah, this sounds much like the large cities in the United States too. You know, New York, Dallas, L.A. ;)

Ohhhh, I dink I dot it --- :earboy2:

People, people, people -

Let's be sure we are all on the same page. There are 2 Budget locations and 2 cruise ship terminals. Make sure you are all talking about the same ones.

BUDGET
  • at the Long Beach Airport
  • at 249 E. Ocean Blvd #104

PORT
  • 231 Windsor Way in Long Beach
  • World Cruise Center at Port of LA in San Pedro << Disney Magic docks here

Just trying to help clarify. :teeth:

Hello Fools!!!! I still can't find my headphones, so DH bought me a new set, with white noise. They are OK, but rather bulky. DOn't any of you know where my Koss ones are???????

The info that Cathy provided is wonderful, but for big families, I think. For me, it will cost about 40 with tax and tip to get from LAX to HISP for me and mother. Then we will do the HISP Shuttle Bus with our new found friends.

I am trying not to DIS, I need to start packing for Saturday, and I still have laundry to do. But DISing is a whole lot more enjoyable, for sure.

Yep used the one on East Ocean to the World Cruise Centre, which is near West Amar and North Harbour Blvd (According to the San Pedro Mapquest map which I put over into Mappoint).
I DO agree however that it can get confusing with the ports, but pretty sure these are the ones.

Ditto for us...well, the HISP shuttle to the port part.

I'm going to have to do a cab from Avis to HISP after we arrive on Friday.

Actually - I do leave my car unlocked a lot of the times- no keys in the igintion. I do bring the removeable faceplate for the radio in. I have whats referred to as a station car --- 1994 DODGE Shadow -- up to $ 44,000 miles on it! Got it last June with $ 39,000 miles on it - for $ 800 (Benita found it in the classied ads :flower: ). Runs great -

We do get a lot of walkers in our neighborhood -- since there is a nice flat mile loop around a couple of blocks.

We won't have an empty house when we go - My neice & nephew, 4 dogs & 3 cats will be there watching it. Plus the dog walker who will be coming at lunchtime will be keeping an eye on it,plus relatives will be stopping in to make sure its still standing.

I am leaving DH home to watch the house. Doesn't get better than that!
