Make sure she gives the dress back, Lynn!! I am having such trouble getting my outfits back from you-know-who!

Laugh it up Nancy!!!!! pirate:

Nancy, it was really nice here today too. It's still 55! I heard about the cold coming though. Possibly snow tomorrow! We went for a long walk today and grilled out. Spent a good portion of the day redecorating our main bathroom today. Nice to have the windows open after painting!

Oh Renee, what a BEAUTIFUL Easter Pic of Haley!!!! She looked so grown up!! My kids are getting thier pic done tomorrow!!
Where was yours taken??

Allen, i go for it...if eveyone would!

Got the Easter pics done at Kiddie Kandids in Babies R Us. They use a digital camera so you can see what they look like before you choose. The best part is they're done in 10 minutes. They took 4 different poses and they all came out great so of course I had to buy them all, plus the CD. Guess that means, I have to change my signature more.

I posted this on the cruise board and thought you guys might want to see what I found out about the coconut mailer...

Ok friends....I just got off the phone the Castaway Club and inquired why some get the mailings and some don't. The CM was very nice and explained that it is just a random mailing and done by an outside marketing company. DCL themselves does not do the mailing. She did not know what the criteria was for the current mailing or even what the mailing looked like...I told her and she was impressed. She did offer to look into putting my name on the Marketing List, but was not sure how to do it. So, who knows...maybe in the future I will receive a mailing!!!

Our passport applications are filled out. We went to Costco and got passport photos taken yesterday. tomorrow after school we are applying for the passports. We were going to do this in a couple of weeks during Spring Break but if I can save $36 I will!

Thanks for posting about the passport price increase.

Family has been recovering from some stomach virus. We seem to be sharing!

Okay - I booked the last 2 cruises --- so Benita gets the postcard. Sheesh

Opting for the instant method in Aug.

Renee - what an adorable Easter photo of Haley!!!!! The option to have them taken must be an American thing; the only time we had one taken of Lara was when we were in Hawaii. They don't commonly have them here in Canada.

We're above freezing here today! :cool1: The storm expected with another 6 inches of snow has gone to the north and east of us, leaving us with only rain.

Lara's still sick so it's Martin's turn to work from home today. Hope everyone has a great day!

Arlene if you're talking about getting the photos done we have found Zehrs to be the best. Their prices are "CHEAP", and quality excellent. We have Meagan's photo done for $7.95 4 times a year, and they have pet days where you can take the dog. I was a bit skeptical at first, but they do great work.

Cheers,

Thanks, Grumbo. I meant specifically Easter-themed photos; I saw them in the malls in the States like Santa pictures when we were in Hawaii!

Is Zehr's part of the Loblaws chain? We don't have Zehrs in Mississauga either!

Yep they do the Easter themed things. Sears does too.
I have boxes of photos from years gone by I'll give you if you want to put Lara's head on the body. Save you some money :)
Yep they're Loblaws. Only the new huge stores have the photo studios. I know there are ones in Niagara Falls and St. Catharines as well as the one up here in Barrie. Guess you guys in the GTA are just too upper end for photos in a grocery store chain ;)

I wish our pictures cost $7.95. Since I liked them all, I wound up paying $115.00! :earseek: I figure I might as well spend the money since she'll only be 2 years old once and I don't want to miss having those pictures.

At one point when we took Meagan to Sears they'd show you these damn packages with more photos than you could shake a stick at. D would not want them to shred the photos, so she bought them :rotfl:
Anyway you can order them by the sheet, any sizes per sheet at Zehrs. I find that much better.

We are still trying to decide on the rental car vs. shuttle issue in CA. We are arriving on Thursday the 18th around 12:40pm at LAX and the we are staying at the HISP. David may get picked up at the airport and go with his buddies to the recording studio for the day. That would leave me and the girls (2 & 8) to bach it.

The shuttle companies and prices I came up with are:
  • Karmel - shared 7 passenger van $49 OR exclusive 7 pass van $79 OR towncar/sedan $69
  • Prime Time - (age 2 & under free) shared van $30 OR private van $75 OR sedan $75
  • Super Shuttle - shared 7 pass van $51 OR excl. 7 pass van $72 OR Excl. 9 pass van $92 OR executive car $66
The Prime Time price is for a maximum of 4 checked bags (carryons don't count); if we had more than that I could always send them with David or just pay the extra $5 for 2 additional bags.

One conundrum is a car seat for Emma. CA law requires it, but I really don't want to bring hers from home and have to trip over it in our stateroom for 14 days! We brought it last November with the understanding that our stateroom host could stow it for us during the 4 nite cruise. No such thing! I had read about "the stroller & car seat storage" on the boards but our host said there is no such thing. So we tripped over it for 4 nites.

I guess I'll have to call each of these places and see if they have car seats for rent. Or I could beg/borrow one from David's buddies and they could bring it with to the airport and give it to me and then I could give it back that night when they drop him back off at HISP. Or am I just trying to complicate things for myself?

If we don't rent a car we will be 'stuck' at the hotel for 2 days (no chance to explore San Pedro on Friday), but that $30 shuttle price sure is tempting. If we did rent a car, there is the issue of returning it to Long Beach and getting to the cruise terminal. From what I've read here, the rental cos don't seem to have shuttles, so then I'd have to spring for a cab. If we go the shuttle-from-the-airport route, we could just take the HISP shuttle to the port for $3 a head.

Is anyone else struggling with these sorts of issues? Any advice/direction/comments/comiseration would be greatly appreciated!!!

Anyone coming in on Thurs around 1pm want to *share* a shuttle to HISP? PLMK!

Not much help here, but when we made our arrangements with Karmel, they told me car seats are required, but State law will not allow them to provide them. In other words, have your own with you! Maybe we rent a shuttle just to shuttle a car seat back and forth to the airport!

I'm struggling with the car seat issue as well. In May we'll need it to fly down and back from S.F. to L.A., then in shuttle to and from DL. In August we'll need it primarily for airplane (especially from FLA back to CA), and on shuttles at each end. Emilie will be 18 months in August. I do NOT want car seat in cabin the whole time. This week-end I looked at Babies R Us, hoping to find a cheap and lite weight car seat just for the trips. I'm a single parent and can NOT carry the Britax all around the airports. I couldn't find anything small or lite weight. So, WHAT TO DO???? I'll also need the stroller on both trips... At least this time I don't have to bring baby food as well!!!

I'd get a few of the wrist bands....maybe around 6 or so.....

I can mail a copy of The Kite Runner if anyone wants to borrow it......

Renee....that pic of Haley is ADORABLE. Emilie will NOT sit for the camara..... makes me sick, as I'm a scrapbooker and love pictures!!! Maybe we'll try Babies R Us this week-end just for the fun (?) of it....

Hello all you parents with car seat storage issues. I will be happy to pile up some on the extra bed in my cabin, seriously. I see no need to move the two beds together if someone needs storage room. I don't mind, really. Please let me know if you want to use the room!

Interesting idea. Wonder if we could get enough people interested for the minimum.

Just to clarify - minimum order is 40 bands - unless it's a special colour in which case minimum goes up to 500 bands
