Hello boys and girls, today was not good. I went to Boston to see a very close friend of mine. She and I worked together in Arizona for 2 years and she transfered to Atlanta. I haven't seen her since right before I moved to NH, when she came back to AZ for a week to see her son graduate from ASU. Anyway, I left my house, dropped Max off at day care, stopped at the car wash to get the salt removed and went on my way. As I got further down the road I noticed the gas guage was getting closer to E. Now you all need to realize that the last time I put gas in my car was olmost a month ago, but I figured that I could get filled up after I met my friend and was on the way home. After I got into Boston, and i have NEVER driven there in my life, I of course was following the directions that said just follow the signs to the Aquarium. Which there were none. SO I espyed a Mobil station and pulled in to kill two bird with one stone, a fill up (full serve!) and I could call the hotel and get directions. All was good, got the directions (easy) and signed the slip, and then NOTHING!!!!! My battery decided to DIE!!!!! The gas guy gave me a jump, I decided to go ahead to the hotel. I warned the valet that the battery would die, he said no problem, it happens all the time, they would jump start it also. After eating breakfat, we walked around a bit ad did the usual shopping. All the while I am hoping that I can get home 70 miles or so. Then my son calls, he says he has news, his truck threw a rod this morning. And he wants money if we can help him out. GREAT!!!!! Just what I don't need to hear. Back at the hotel, the valet jump starts the car, and I start home. Again, there are NO signs for 93 north, just south, but I managed to find the right way. WHat is up with these cities that can't have signs for the lost? Driving back I call my local dealer, they can't help me out, but if I leave the car they can do it tomorrow or Monday. For over $150.00. No thanks. Call Auto Zone, they have a battery to fit, but they don't install them, neither does the warehouse club! I take my chances, go to day care, pick up Max, and drive home. Got almost here, and it dies at the mail boxes. Fortuneately, the guys that are working here (a new development) were right there and they pushed me enough for me to pop the clutch and get is started. NEVER BUY AN AUTOMATIC! Things are looking up, finally. I pulled my service records and sure enough I have the reciept for the battery I bought in 2001 (in AZ, batteries don't last long due to the heat) and while it is out of the warranty period by 4 months, it has a 96 month prorate on it. Saturday we will take the battery to Auto ZOne, and get a new one!
So now it's just trying to see if I can help the boy out. At least he lives where he can get a ride to the restaurant easily with the executive chef, and his band had some other vehicle for traipsing to their gigs.
I need a drink!!!!
And PS, I send a package 3 weeks ago to Colorado, it never made it, and I haven't gotten it back, I am POed at the post office my self. ANd I am NOT on the October cruise, I feel so ashamed!
