August 20, 2005 - L.A. to Port Canaveral - Eastbound Repo Cruise - The SHIP OF FOOLS Part 2

We had an unreal thunderstorm last night and although it wasn't hot I turned on the AC just to get the moisture out of the air.

We had a tornado touch down last night in Burlington County -- near the same area that all those houses got flooded out two weeks ago! 110 mile winds. What a July!

Now lets all think positive and the first round of drinks is on me--of course if I can't be found to sign the tab--have Grumbo or Jazzman pay!!

I don't think everyone will be sleeping ... granted, some will hit the sack at 10pm (or whatever time they pick) while others are going to enjoy the night life in Acapulco, possible reboarding the ship well after midnight.

But, what about folks with kids, I'm betting that the kid's club and lab and Flounder's nursery won't be open later than normal, so how do parents "party" when there's no one to watch the kids?

Maybe just the kidless cruisers will get to enjoy Acapulco after 11pm (my sis in law plans on an excursion of her own, to find the best ever Margarita in Acapulco).

Grumbo glad to hear you're enjoying your trip out here. I'm heading to Las Vegas Friday, returning Sunday. Have the house about 25% packed up, will probably get another 25% out of the way on Sunday. Crossing fingers that we'll move into the rental Aug 7 or 8, otherwise it won't be until Aug 21 or 22. Have an appt at the new high school to get my daughter registered on Aug 30.

Oy.

BTW, updated on Aunty Brat. She has had one chemo treatment so far, next one is Aug 2nd. She's lost 40 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks (not a good way to lose weight), but we think we finally have a medicinal concoction to prevent further naseau. And she has lost all her hair. We're confident it should grow back before the cruise, although she might look more like Annie Lennox than Sharon Stone.

Susan, Thanks for the update on Aunty Brat. Let her know I am still praying for her!! Chemo is tough!!

About the couples with kids at Acapulco, if the kids club on the ship does close at it's regular hours that evening, and since I run a daycare center here at home, I will offer to host "a kids night sleep out under the stars on the secret deck 7 aft". Pack their sleeping bags and we will have a blast with the kids studying the stars and constellations, while the mommies and daddies are getting blasted. I think that would be fun!! I'm not sure if Disney would allow me to do this, but I would be willing to provide this service for all of my DIS friend's children.

My DH and I are not into the partying scene, but we are anxious to see Acapulco and the cliff diving show sounds great.

I think the extra sea days will be nice. I find that there are so many things I want to do on the cruise that I don't have much time to sit and do nothing (though that's ok too ). With more sea days, DCL will probably repeat some of the entertainment/programs and I'll get some time to swim and sun. DH said he just looking forward to getting all that time off of work!

Lynda - that is so generous of you! The last thing you should want to do on a well-earned vacation from working with children is look after more children! You are a truly generous soul to make such a lovely offer. I went back and checked my dd's Navigator's from our 7-night cruise and the Oceaneer's Club was open until at least midnight and several nights until 1 am during the week. Assuming they maintain this, everyone will have lots of time to party - even those with kids if they're interested.

Come join us watching the cliff divers instead!

I figure with all those sea days, there will be plenty of time to catch up on sleep! This is suppose to be a once in a lifetime trip!

Lynda ~ Very Generous of you but do join us for the Cliff Divers, I'm sure since DCL is offering the overnighter, then they will have to provide a "Slumber Party" for the kids that night!

When I heard how Aunty Brat was doing, I thought we should have a "Hat Party" for her to show our support. The idea is that no one should have to lose their hair without having a good hat or two to wear.

Anyone interested should PM me and I'll give you my address. Then send me a hat of your choosing along with any cards or notes for Aunty Brat and I'll box them all up together and send them off to her to show her that her DIS friends are there for her.

We should do this fairly quick so she gets some new hats to wear soon. I'd like to send out as many as possible by August 13 (sooner if possible, but that may be tough). What do you all think?

Has anyone had any problems getting shirts from Zazzle.com?

I made a design for our shirts like Andy did and submitted it to Zazzle on July 10. I called them on Tuesday since I never received them. I was told that my order was inadvertently cancelled, but they would upgrade the shipping and I would have them by today. He asked me if he could charge the credit card that I originally used when I placed the order, and I told him yes. Well the time that UPS, Fed Ex and the USPS come to my house has come and gone so I just called them back. I spoke with the same person (Charles) and was told that they didn't do anything with my order since it was cancelled. He also denied everything that he told me on Tuesday about upgrading the shipping, charging my credit card and me having them by today. He told me that he can't change an order that's been cancelled, that I have to place the order again. After we argued about this, and I told him the internet being such a wonderful thing. He asked what I meant, so I told him about the message boards that I go to and that I was going to post what a horrible business they run and that they cancel orders without informing the customer and then promise things and deny ever saying them. After that, he decided that he wouldn't charge me for the shirts and would overnight them to me so I would have them by tomorrow. I don't know how he can do this since he told me he can't order shirts from an order that was cancelled, but we'll see.
I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for the shirts, and I'm never going to order from them again.

I am so upset since I was going to wear that shirt to the DIS meet at KOP mall on Saturday and don't have time to go and buy shirts and make them myself.

I'm not expecting to receive the shirts. I can't believe he told me he never said all the things he told me on Tuesday. He even told me "I promise you that you will have the shirts on Thursday".

Sorry for the rant, but I can't believe all this.

I know it isn't the same but the Disney store is practically next door to the California Pizza Kitchen within the mall. If you really want a Disney related shirt you could stop there first.

I hate hate hate bad service. Major pet peeve of mine.

I wanted to wear the shirt that I made for the cruise on Saturday. I have many Disney shirts that I can wear, but I wanted to wear that one. I am so mad. I'm going to send them an email with all that happened, but I'm going to wait until tomorrow to see if I get the shirts. I don't think I will, but we'll see. The worst part is he told me he's in charge of Customer Service.

but they did rectify the problem. It was with the courier service that they used. I originally thought they were mailing it thru USPS so I waited about two weeks. Then when my T-shirts did not arrive I emailed them. I never did receive a receipt and the courier had to repackage due to the mangalation of the original packaging. Luckily the T's were ok!

Originally they told me one courier (EMERY) company had then then it turned out another had them.

The driver did not leave any notice of delivery. As it turned out it was FEDEX! It was one big mess!

Finally I told them if they could please ship to my work address as there is nobody home during the day to accept pacakges.

If Zazzle had of informed me like other company's with a tracking number when they originally shipped out, then all that would have been avoided and I would have made arrangements for my Super to sign.

I emailed them, but they never responded to any of them. That's why I called. It even took me a while to get through to them on the phone.
