I'm changing my mind a bit about being psyched for the overnight in Acapulco. I guess I was also under the impression we'd get an extra day there. I would much rather have a different port of call. I would LOVE Costa Rica. I've already done Matzalan and Cabo San Lucas on an RCCL Baja California trip in 1992. So, the extra Mexico port doesn't thrill me. I've never done Acapulco so that's why I was at least partially thrilled if we got two days. But, I would much rather see a different port. 5 straight sea days does not thrill me at all.

Me too! There is still a lot of time before we sail and a lot of things probably will change. We should just wait to see what happens when it gets closer.

I don't like the itinerary change at all, especially the fact that the other cruise gets to visit a place that we don't.

I suppose I should just be glad they didn't just add another at sea day.

Never mind. With a 7:30 AM departure it pretty much IS just another sea day.

I was trying to justify this trip as a way to see different places, as I was not a big fan of cruising. But with one port down, and five days at sea, I don't know if it's worth the cash anymore.

I probably won't be very popular here, but I am glad for the change.

One full day and night gives time for a great excursion, shopping, dinner, etc. Another full day would be nice, but I will take what I get. I have been to Mazatlan and it is okay! Most of the Mexico ports are pretty much identical.

We have a specific time to go through the Canal so DCL will have to adjust the itinerary accordingly.

We were only getting 4 hours in PC so an itinerary change is probably for the better.

Maybe they will add a new port once we get through the Canal or an overnighter @ CC:teeth:

If you do not like the itinerary then cancel your reservation.

We cruised from Hawaii to the mainland. Five days sailing is perfectly fine by me. Love cruising!!!:lovestruc

I guess I don't understand the problem! When we signed up for the 14 day cruise, we knew there were going to be a lot of sea days, but I think most of us considered the travel through the canal the highlight of the trip. Suddenly, we are calling it "another sea day". And then we add them up and now have 5 miserable sea days in a row! I plan on enjoying them!
~~~~~~~~~~~Besides, while we are suffering thru all those sea days at least we know that Castaway Cay is still ahead. Those poor wesbound sailors will be finished with CC before they have to face their misery-at-sea!! They got nothing to look forward too!!!
Happy Sailing!!!
Personally, I think that Castaway Cay is a wonderful start to magical adventure. Those of us on the westbound will have plenty to look forward to, including Mazatlan. Just think of the welcome party in L.A. when we dock.
I also think the first day on Castaway Cay will be great. It will be the first time that we won't have to face the "final night" after a great day on the island.
One of the highlights for me on the Fl to Ca repo will be that I will only have a 1.5 hour drive to get home from the port. Now that's a great finish to a Magic cruise.
I just wanted you west bounders to know that izzinmac's comments (and sarcasm) was NOT directed toward you and your fellow cruisers. He was trying to make a point to his fellow east bounders than their concern of having "miserable sea-days" is silly and unfounded. He was joking with us fellow cruisers.
I don't want to see "bad blood" resurfacing between the two threads. We are all here to share information, tips, and mostly fun and fellowship while we past the time until we cruise. Let's keep things positive. PLEASE!!
We are all excited and anticipating a wonderful experience. Disney's decision to work out and tweak the intineraries has raised concerns with some cruisers. This thread is to help us work through those concerns with others and a place to voice our feelings. Let's keep it light!
We are all going to have a wonderful experience!!! Let's work together to make these cruises a cruise of a lifetime!!
I think they want to spend the night due to the fact that most things there are offered at night and into the weeeee hours of the morning......
One thing though, Rae will be upset 'cause in the book I was reading from AAA, it said Mazatlan is the "Shrimp Capital of Mexico!"
Whatever happens, happens! I for one am not going to fret at this point and time....
Hey, they haven't even got the 10-cruise this Christmas all settled!
So another words....We can party all night on the island??? Wonder if the Kids clubs will be open throughout the night while my DH and I "party" into the weee hours....and then we can sleep while ship is debarking in the morning....
I am not so sure if that my idea of vacationing... For others, it may be great.....
BUT.....
I am not to fret anymore...What ever happens, happens...I slept on it last night and like others said, DCL changes all the time and it is still over a year yet but it doesn't hurt to express and write to DCL in the meantime your feelings regarding this cruise. I am just going to laugh over this and just shook my head wondering what DCL will do next.....Plus, my DH did stated to me that it would save us more money than to pay for shore excursion and thus more entertainment for us on the ship....he got a point there...There are too many other worries to worry about in the world. This is nibbles.
I know I, for one, did not refer to it as "miserable sea days". Couldn't find the thread that said that, but I don't think we all feel that way. I love sea days -- and was very happy that we had seven days at sea and six ports (counting PC and CC). Whether you spend much time there or even get off the ship, it is still another place to see or say that you were at. It would have been nice to go to PQ just to see Guatemala.
Other than days at sea for relaxation, however, we also like to see as many different places as possible. So let's hope that in the next few months DCL gets it straightened out and maybe we'll end up with another "place to see". Whatever, I know the cruise will be great because it's Disney!!:hyper:
More sea days or not----I just feel so blessed to be able to do this cruise (whether I have to scrimp for money or not!). I have been to Honduras (lived for 2 months w/ a Honduran family of 8 in a one room mud and straw home) and the fact that DCL is changing things up doesn't bother me a bit. I threw that in there for 2 reasons--1. Honduras borders part of Guatemala and I have no desire to stop in either place--sorry! and 2. Due to the fact that I have been lucky enough to visit most of Honduras and see and live how they live--I can't ever complain about what I am not getting from my DCL cruise when I have experienced a group of people who we would think have nothing--but they KNOW they have everything! Also lived in the Philippines for 8 years as a military brat and saw everyday how lucky we are. (did that make sense or is it jumbled??). Like I said--if they add ports--awesome!! If they change them up--I'll adapt.
Now lets all think positive and the first round of drinks is on me--of course if I can't be found to sign the tab--have Grumbo or Jazzman pay!!:p
I'm going to keep cool with whatever happens with our itinerary.
As others have stated, it’s still a year away and other changes could occur. However, I still have faith in Disney to keep it fun for all of us, whether an extra sea day or a few hours in port in Guatemala. (Although my DD is sorry to miss “Guacamole” – she has such fun saying she’s going there!)
One more advantage to the late stay in Acapulco – the cliff divers shows seem to be mostly in the evenings (depending on tides). According to an Acapulco tourism website, the dives occur at 1:00 pm and then again at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30 PM!!! While DH and I would not be “partying” in any of the Acapulco clubs, it might be fun to see the cliff divers at night – something we wouldn’t have been able to do on our original schedule! Hey, Melinda – maybe we can hook up our families to see this since your and your DH won’t be partying to the wee hours either!
As for the later kids’ clubs – I’m sure they’ll plan something (at least until 1 am) but we’ll have Lara with us if we’re off the ship. (See – we’re really not party animals!)
Thanks EmmasGrammy for being the peace maker and explaining what I really meant. I was just trying to have a little fun on the itinerary change turmoil. Got carried away with my sarcasm!
Actually, any day, anywhere, on the Magic beats reality
Regarding a "Night on the Town in Acapulco" - to show you how exciting I am, we have a cabin at the very back of da boat, and I'm just hoping the ship pulls in the right way so I can sit on my verandah and see the city lights! Talk about a fun filled evening! Even if they pull in the right way, I'll probably fall asleep before it gets dark!
I did use the e-mail link to send DCL a message. Mostly it stated that we would rather go to a different port than stay overnight in Acapulco. I was pleasant.
I will be happy just to be on this cruise, but if DCL is going to listen to concerns, why shouldn't I let them?
We are also not going to let this change bother us or force us to cancel this cruise....more at sea days mean more reading that I can do on deck!! The main reason that we are also doing this cruise is to go through the Panama Canal so anything else is just icing on the cake!!
We would be interested in the nighttime show with the cliff divers though and not sure how it is to be around at night but I'm sure that there will be a bunch of us so there is safety in numbers!! We are also not party animals (heck, I'm lucky if I can stay up until 10:00 p.m.!!) so I'm sure we won't be experiencing much of the night life!!
Scratch42...Sarah said she emailed Tanya so tell her to be on the lookout for it!
Our Dis meet is this weekend..hopefully, we won't have rain for that!! Mary Jo
Okay finally made it back to the boards. Various things came up.
I have no problem with the days at sea. A bit of sea water in the veins. Sailors in the family. I would like to see the divers. So that is a plus. Of course we would probably be at one of the early shows. We turn into sleeping fools at around 10 PM. At least we won't have to worry about missing the sailing the next morning.
Did anyone else hear something on the news about a man being removed from a Disney ship. Seems he had an old fine for stealing a couple of hub caps and hadn't bothered to pay it. He is now in jail doing 9 monthes. I'm not sure which ship but heard it on the news the other night.
Lunch time. Off to feed the starving DH.
She got it and she is having a friend set up a separate e-mail account for her so that I won't have access to her stuff!LOL
I'll have her email from my address so that Sarah knows it's her.
As for what happens, everybody will have the 60 day mark to make up their minds. I for one, remember the Elvis Movie where they showed part of the "Cliff Diver Show" and promised myself that if the chance ever arose, I would definately try to go see it! I remember it looked so beautiful!
Hi guys found a free internet machine in the hotel here so quick post before we're off to San Francisco. In Marina by Monterrey right now.
California is beautiful. The drive up the Pacific Coast Highway was breathtaking. The weather has been good and the Grand Canyon, the desert and Vegas were great.
Met Malificent59 and hubby at DL and great folks. They really knew the tricks to get us on to rides with long lineups and I was still dripping wet from rides at 9:30 pm :)
My DD can't stop talking about Malificent's hubby who went on the rides that I wouldn't even look at.. Thanks again for that.
Well off on the road again. See you guys later.
Cheers,
Grumbo
btw what is rain??? :)
