August 1st 2009 - Eastern 8/1/2009 The Eastern Caribbean Castaways

Hey Everyone!

I haven't been on DIS in forever..but I'm glad I'm back.

My DF (soon to be my DW) will be spending our Honeymoon on this cruise with all of you, too. Hope to bump into some of you there.

BTW, can you believe we leave 9 weeks from tomorrow! :-)

:cool1:Hi and welcome:cool1:
:welcome::welcome::welcome:

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

My first cruise was part of my honeymoon.

If you check out the very first post in the thread (pg1) it has a list of who is on our cruise and some of the things we have planned.

Take care
x

Hey Everyone!

My DF (soon to be my DW) will be spending our Honeymoon on this cruise with all of you, too. Hope to bump into some of you there.

:-)

Welcome aboard shipmate.

What part of Chicago are you from? My DW's family is from the Waukeegan and Gurney areas.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding, enjoy the day. Now you mention your future bride will be joining us, but will you be there too?:lmao::lmao: (sorry for the bad joke).:rolleyes1

My DW and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary and also winding down from our DD's wedding on July 18th while building up for our DS's wedding on September 19th. So with two weddings and a cruise we can't afford dog food anymore (sorry Buddy).:scared::scared:

See you on the Magic.

Dave

OK everyone, I have a question for us all:

What does your "DIS name" mean and what is the story behind it.

I picked ScubaD because at the time I signed up for the boards my DS and I were just getting into scuba diving. I wanted to use "Scuba D" for Scuba Dave but thought it was like other usernames where you could not have spaces between the letters. So now others may think it is "skew bad".

So what is your story.

Dave

Mine is pretty simple and boring. It comes from my last name.

MrsJobba - thanks for organizing all of this. Look forward to meeting all of you on this cruise!

Hi Dave - My fiancee and I are from the SW 'burbs (Tinley Park/New Lenox/Joliet area), so opposite direction of you from Chicago. And yes, I'll be on the cruise too :) And congrats to you on the anniversary & the dual weddings.

As for my DIS name, my is the name of the DJ company I started and ran from when I was 18 until 2 years ago. So kinda interesting, at least for me.

9 weeks from today!! Can't wait!:thumbsup2

:welcome: aboard! :boat:, SpinDisc!

I'm the DW of ScubaD (Dave). I look now and again on the wedding forums because of our DD's upcoming wedding, and I remember your engagement story! Pretty neat that you and your future wife will be joining us. :) When is your wedding?

To answer Dave's question, the last 4 digits of my DIS name are the years my DD and DS were born.

Thanks for the compliments ladies. :)

disneymom8589, I do sew for others but not as much as I'd like to. I'm also a pharmacist so that takes up a good amount of my week.

MrsJobba1, a huge congrats on the weight loss. Will you please send some motivation my way? Dropping one dress size would be nice. And the hairspray tip is pretty clever. I've never heard of that.

You can count me in for door decor. Has anything been suggested for a name? I'm not good with stuff like that.

Alright you creative types, Helen and I keep trying. This cruise needs an identity. I started thinking "When the Saints come Sailing in" - after our port names - Helen don't know if you would be familiar with the song - When the saints come marching in - old Am. folk song - became popular again during jazz era. "Caribbean Mousekecruisers - Mousekesailors"? "Caribbean Castaways"? - that's my favorite idea so far.

Spin, welcome and congratulations! Maybe you can help us out? Helen, LadyRob, myself (and I hope lots of others) are trying to make door signs and to come up with a catchy name for our disboard group.

Please, someone, help me out?

LadyRob - as others have said you Amaze me. (I also can't sew beyond a button or simple turn up hem - _badly_ hand stitched!)

Two months! Wow! In 18 more days I can really start to focus. Can't wait to meet everyone!:cheer2:

Dave,
I'm kinda like LadyRob. Except I took my first name, and then mashed all my others initials together. It works since it is usually "unique" enough. Sometimes I make something up in Latin - did that with Livejournal. It's funny. I always got your point, Dave - although I may have thought originally that D was for Diver, instead of Dave. People are strange.

My Dis name is just Ms. LeFever. (change in the spelling of the last name) Kinda dull. Every now and then someone "sees" Missle Fever - eek!

I did the exact same thing. I took my first name and added my middle initial and last initial. I always use either MelissaLG or mel00013, which is my nickname (Mel) and the day of my birthdate (13th) with some 0s thrown in there. And that's as creative as I get. :sad2:

I'm much more boring -- no letters mixed up etc. Just first name and last name initial.

I talked to the concierge, and they are still doing just two seating times -- 5:45 and 8:15. They aren't doing the tiered dining times for main and late anymore. Of course, that might change before our cruise.

Our surmane is Jobling

Dave's always had the nickname Jobba and when I married him I became MrsJobba.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info Marci - I dont mind that they arn't doing tiered dining. I am looking forward to trying early seating as we've never done that in 6 cruises:thumbsup2

(of course we'll have really good table mates this time too:rolleyes1 Kim)

Hey disneymom!

That's so cool that you remember my engagement story on the wedding board (which I haven't updated in forever). Jeez, that seems like such a long time ago - but it was wonderful sharing that party of my life with other DISers! As for the wedding, it'll be taking place on Friday, July 31st (the day before the cruise!)..unfortunately it won't be in Disney - we'll be getting married in Chicago. But Mrs. Spin ;) and I will be really looking forward to seeing everyone the following day!

Later!

Awww....you're so sweet, Helen! Dave and I are looking forward to eating at the same table as you and your Dave! :)
