I looked at them as well. They do seem to be a nice organizational tool when packing. I have to say that I am one of those people who use ziplock baggies and am able to pack way more by compressing a lot of our clothing.

Last cruise I packed my formal dress in one and then paid to have it pressed. It worked out GREAT! :thumbsup2

Speaking of dresses....how formal are people going to get for dress-up night?

I was planning on just packing 1 dress (not formal) for dress up night. If I have my itinerary correct we have Palo ressie's for dress-up night, so basically killing 2 birds with one stone. Hubby will be in dress pants, shirt and sport coat. I may pack a black skirt for any night.

I have two black dresses (knee length) that I picked up last summer for weddings so I'll bring them for dress up night and Palo. Dh will at least be in a dress shirt and maybe tie/sport coat. I don't think we will haul his suit all the way there (although we could since we are doing the Auto Train. If it fits in the van it can get there!).

Dd (10) will wear her fancy party dress and ds (5) will be in a collared button down shirt and khakis.

Hello all!! We are still in AZ enjoying our time with family. But we got a disturbing phone call from our neighbor. Two guys were in our backyard, right at our back door, then they moved to the back of the house, like they were looking for a way in. We asked the neighbor to call 911, and the police came but they were gone by then. The police were let into our house by our neighbor, and they checked to make sure our house was secure. We were told by another neighbor that he had seen them knock on our front door, and when we didn't answer they went straight through the gate and into our backyard. Talk about feeling helpless. Here we are 400 miles away and there is nothing we can do. I hope they decide not to come back. We are going to be pretty uneasy until we get home on Friday.
I think we are going to have to invest in an alarm system now. :sad2:

Ohh Candy, how scarey!! Thinking, of you guys!!

Call me when you can.

Going today to the surgeon!! Wish me LUCK!!:):thumbsup2

I also have a daughter(Rebecca) who will be turning 9 in July. I talked to her this morning and she would love to get to know some other kids before cruising. I sent a couple PM's last night but if anyone else is interested please let me know. :lovestruc

I'm sure my girls would be interested as well!!~`

We LOVE packing cubes. Only way to travel . My favorite is ebags product. We have a color for everyone in the family & it really keeps you organized in a cramped stateroom.

I have the ebags one too. They are great. And, like you, each family has a different color. I got them on sale. They are on sale now.

The packing cubes are great. Like was said earlier, I pack them, put them in the suitcase, and then take them out and put them in the dresser, closet shelf, etc.

Here is the link to the website I purchased them from:
Packing cubes

Candy, I'm sure they won't try anything again since you had the cops called. Even so a security system is a good idea, or just get a couple big dogs like we have, they scare everyone away!

Kristin, I hope you don't need surgery, if you do need surgery it will probably speed up your recovery time. When I sprained my ankle the doctor said it was such a bad sprain I would have been better off breaking it. So you never know it may be for the better.

As far as the packing cubes go, I just buy the extra large zip lock bags and put each day's outfit in a bag. That way when I wake up all I have to do is fling a bag at each of the kids and say "get dressed" it's all in there socks undies and everything.

I had the same mentality with taking the train, if it fits in the car it can come...now that we are flying, we have weight, size issue. It is Jetblue so 1 checked bad a peice and 2 carry-on personal items ( and Brian's Nebulizer and meds do not count)

I'm not going to go back to re-post but here are my thoughts:

Candy-Sorry to hear about the home situation. You are very lucky to have watchful neighbors. Hopefully you can enjoy the rest of your vacation.

Kristin-Hope you got good news today at the surgeon's :wizard:

Formal wear: Will pack 2 nice dresses (I booked Palo for Wed and one for dress up night). I like to dress up anyway, with the exception of pirate night when we will be in shorts and matching t-shirts. Thinking khakis and button downs for the guys and my DD will wear a dress (she likes dressing up too-cruise only).

Packing cubes-I'll have to check these out too. I actually keep drawer liners in my suitcases because I don't like my clothes touching the drawers. I'm getting a little OCD in my old age :rotfl2: or I'll lay down zip locks first, then unpack.

Dad decided to come on Segway tour so I'll treat him for his Father's Day gift, have to go check availability first.

Looks like the tooth fairy has been busy with DisBoard kids lately :lovestruc

Two more days and it's the weekend. Stay cool :cool2:

Candy, sorry about the call you got! I too hope that the two guys took notice of the police visit and will not be back. Maybe the police will keep an 'eye' out given that they know you are away?

Kristin-hope the appt goes well!

My DH (John) twisted his knee this weekend and is going to see the doctor tomorrow. Good news is he can walk on it and it says it feels somewhat better but I still worry. And, we thought he was getting better from the plantar fasciitis!

Our friends that our joining us are in each in pain, too....one with an ankle and the other a knee-----geez!!!

As far a dress up, I think that we will be nicely dressed up but no suits, tuxes or prom gowns...although if I let my DD, she would be!

Sorry to hear this, but at least you know your neighbors are keeping an eye out for you! Hopefully, the police will be cruising by too!

Has anyone ordered t-shirts yet? If so, what color have you ordered?

Nope!! I need to put that on my list too!

Hope everything went good at the surgeon!

I booked the Nassau Segway tour that was mentioned here. :thumbsup2
We told the kids over dinner and they're excited to do it since they thought they were too young to ride one.

Congratulations on booking the tour. DD14 wanted to do it again so we're book on our Nassau day. I'm not sure if we booked on the same tour though. We are redoing the 'Bahamas Segway and Beach Experience', so I don't know if the 'Nassau Segway Tour' is the same thing.

I found a thread showing how to make inexpensive Fish Extenders.

Here is an inexpensive way I made a fish extender.

I found this over the door storage at Dollar Tree. They only had blue but you may find other colors at your store.

I cut it down to four pockets

I used double sided tape to put pictures I got online over the plastic pockets. I also made the bottom one big pocket by taking the thread and ribbon off seperating the two pockets. Then resewed the ribbon back on to just the plastic. Finally I used shoe lace to hang the FE. :goodvibes
100_3203.jpg

You don't need to sew anything if you don't want to making this FE. I'm sure some of you more talented people could really dress this up with all kinds of disney decorations. I'm using this as a backup for my pumpkin (incase it gets taken) I plan to hang as my FE since we are sailing Oct30th.

Thanks for the FE idea. I've actually seen these (the over door organizer FEs) done by taking out the center seam, so the pockets are wider. The FE is still 4 pockets, but the original length remains. Just FYI.

I booked with Bahamas Segway Tours for the Beach Experience (I think it's the same company). We're in the 12-3 pm slot (have 8 of the 9 openings). Are you in the earlier tour? We'll probably run into you at the beach, I think they overlap. Doing the Segway with my brother, nephews and now dad. Our friends are spending the day at Atlantis. One family hasn't been there before so they want to check it out.

My DD is 14 too. Let me know if your DD wants to chat or facebook with Megan.

I'm heading out to do my part to help stimulate the economy :rotfl2:
Seriously, I cannot find shorts that fit so as much as I want to shop I am getting annoyed that I can't find something to buy!! Oh, and I just had a HUGE car repair bill so that doesn't help either, feel guilty spending more money. Minivan owners-pray that your power sliding doors don't break, mine was a $1600 repair for a new motor  and while it was in had them do a whole bunch of other maintenance on it.

Does anyone know what time we have to be off of the ship by? We have a 2:30 flight and always rush to the airport and wait forever. Just wondering if we have the breakfast buffet,
by what time will we have to get off?

DCL prefers you to be off the ship by 9 AM, but that is not an absolute. My guess is they will stop serving food around 8:30 ish
