August 16, 2011 – 7 Night Alaska Sailing

This time next week we will hopefully already be in Vancouver after taking Amtrak from Seattle and we will be catching a cab to the Marriott Vancouver Pinnacle hotel. Once there we will hop aboard the Vancouver Trolley and begin our 2 day tour.

Can't wait to meet everyone!

This time next week I will be changing planes at Portland International Airport.

According to a thread by passengers aboard last week's cruise, the weather in Alaska was overcast and the temperature in the mid- to upper-50's each day. However the current forecast calls for rain during each of our port days. Plan accordingly.

This time next week, we will be doing our laundry at the laundromat and getting things together for the pre-cruise meet!

*sigh* I guess I will be the one in the blue poncho.

Ok ... single digits ... deep breath ... just had a weird shiver of excitement tinged with a bit of nervousness! :)

We've started packing ... we leave Friday for Toronto and fly out to Vancouver really early Saturday morning.

Will definitely double check that we all have rain gear ... although we're still far enough out that the forecast can change drastically ... hopefully it will! :goodvibes

This time next week -( current UK time is 9.20pm on sunday evening) - I will be urging the kids to goto sleep so that they are not too tired for the flight (10+hrs)the following day, checking and double checking the packing, and having one last look at the DIS before shutting down for 2 weeks.

Also, the CC operator didn't list this, but Fright Night is a Disney release and is opening Aug. 19th and is likely to be open on the ship as well.

What about Pirates of the Caribbean?

A week from today I should be all packed up by now and getting ready for a good night's sleep, so that we can have a leisurely trip up to Vancouver.

I did get my packing list complete this weekend and knocked a few things off my 'to do' list, most importantly, I got a new jacket (I believe someone on the boards recommended it) at REI, which is supposed to be good for wind and it is rain resistent, but yet breathes and I can layer under it, so I'm excited (especially since the jacket finally went on sale).

I also got all of my FEs labeled and packaged up.

Did not get all the laundry done this weekend, but figured out what I want to pack, so it will be easy to do as I'm washing clothes this week.

Looks like we have some good movies to watch on the ship popcorn:: do we need to bring our own popcorn? do they have microwaves in the rooms? Also, do they have hair dryers in the rooms?

Thanks - see you all in a week!:dance3::dance3:

And mine is yellow! Looks like we could stand together and complement eachother :)

I'm not sure what color my poncho will be (I always have one, because it covers the motor of my mobility scooter--those motors do not like rain, and it is miserable to be stopped, in the rain, on your scooter.)

However, speaking of ponchos, that reminds me of a funny incident one time while we were at Disneyland.

At the time, they had us go back out the way you come in to the Haunted Mansion ride. The park had run out of yellow ponchos, and so they gave us clear ones, which looked white in the low light of the ride. Well, when we were through, my husband and I were leaving the ride with our daughter behind us, and we were heading back behind the stanchions when a new group of tourists came off the elevator. One of them took one look at me, floating along in my mobility scooter with white stuff billowing around me, and SCREAMED!

She thought I was part of the attraction! After collecting ourselves, and realizing what happened, we all laughed hysterically for about the next ten minutes. :lmao:

Sounds like you made some great progress this weekend. We made similar progress. But I slacked off last week, so this week I need to stick to my to do list carefully. We fly on Saturday!

And to answer your questions. Yes, there are blow dryers in the room. Some feel they are under powered, but they have worked just fine for me in the past. Also there isn't an outlet for a personal drier in the bathrooms.

Yes, there is popcorn available for a price at the concession stand outside of the theater and no microwaves are available for the guests. However! You might consider ordering the big island cookie or cheese platter from room service which is free! And then take it to the theater with you.

That is really funny! I sure you were just as shocked to be screamed at as she was while screaming! I guess some people really get swept up in the atmosphere of the attraction. :maleficen

Funny poncho story Mellers! :rotfl2:

To continue the poncho theme ... ours will probably be yellow, yellow and maybe a green or blue for dad!

Ours will be $50 worth of Disney World clear ponchos from last August. We had to purchase new ones because all of our old yellow ones had finally ripped.
