August 12, 2011 Disney Dream Meet Link Here

I was wondering if we were sharing this information, we are on deck 9, staterooms 9040 and 9042. What does FE stand for?
Autimom: Wendy, DH (James), DS (15) (Juwan), DD(14) (Aaliyah), DD(9) (Tyra)

Hi Wendy! I added your information into the list. Thanks.... FE stands for Fish Extender. The best way to describe it is a gift exchange that goes on between the cabins. The people who are involved hang their "fish extender" from the mail holder (which is shaped like a fish) and gifts are placed in the pockets. It is kind of like a secret santa - but it's not a secret..... When cruise groups on the Dis get together, FE groups usually are organized, and a deadline to sign up for it is set so everyone can shop for it. My family participated in the FE when we went on the Wonder. We decided not to participate this time. I hope this explained it ok... if anyone else wants to jump in please do!!!

FE Gifts Looking for shirt sizes for anyone with a Son or Daughter in the age range from 15 to 21. I think this only includes 4 people, but clarification will be helpful.

Morning Gary! Ian is 6' 3'' and wears a 2X to 3X (big rugby player). Chelsea wears a small.

Follow up work drama. She sent several of us a profanity laden text yesterday saying we are all ignorant non-caring and won't step up to help a fellow coworker in need. Her rants were so nasty we had no choice but to take it to the top. Our CEO has addressed it and we are not to help her with personal business on work time. Glad that's over.

DH is a high school learning supports teacher. I don't think he does bulletin boards or anything special any more. When he was elementary (up until 2 years ago) he did. I know he'd give anything to go back to elementary!:teacher:

I picked up our cruise docs yesterday. WooHoo! Now I feel like it's all coming together.

Have a great day everyone. This time next week we'll be one day from sailing!:boat:

Michelle, I think you were on the first list, but I didn't have all of your info.... I put in your names, ect when I updated it this time!
Well, it's official, I'm losing it! :upsidedow

That's great that you have another teacher and an assistant to work with. We also work in teams, but I have to set up my own classroom! Our special ed teachers do share a room though, so they would be setting up their classroom together. It was nice getting in and getting the desks set up, supplies put away, smartboard connected...etc. I still have to go in tomorrow and have a bunch of things to do, but Matt is coming back in with me, so I will put him to work! What grade students do you work with?
I am in early childhood. Before my kids were born I was an early childhood spec. ed teacher. I resigned when they were born and then when Adam started school, I began subbing-just a day here and a day there for a little fun money. As the years went on, I subbed more and more (DH has a flexible enough schedule that he could be home when the boys got home from school and then eventually they could be home on their own.) Then a few years ago I decided I was taking so many longer term sub jobs that I was practically working year round, so I went back to work. This time though I opted not to teach special ed. I'm the early childhood teacher (so no paperwork or before or after school meetings with parents). Being we are an early childhood school readiness program (for 4-5 year olds who have risk factors for failing in school), we have one reg. ed. teacher (me), 1 spec. ed. teacher, AND 1 teaching assistant assigned to our room. 2 of 3 days a week, we have a speech clinician in our room too! It's a fabulous program!! We have 10 children with non-identified special needs (but who have risk factors) and 6 children with already identified special needs. The other two days a week I work 1/2 days with 15 three year olds. :rotfl: This is WAY more work :rotfl2::rotfl2:, but it paid for my vacation this summer.:flower3: Then I have the 2 afternoons off, which is great for running errands, etc.

OMG, I can't even imagine drama like that at work! :scared1: I hope she sells her house and leaves soon!

I agree with your DH, would much rather be in an elementary building than HS building (and this from a mom of two teens!).

Glad you got your cruise docs. I would have been a basket case!!

Sounds fun, thanks! How many people are participating? It's probably too late for me to sign up, that's okay, I am really looking forward to the meet! This is my first disney cruise and I am really overwhelmed. Is there going to be a list of everything going on, so I don't miss anything? Well I'm sure I will miss something but if there is a list, I can choose from.

Hi Wendy - The official FE list closed July 1st. There has to be a close date because some families create homemade gifts or order items online. Both of which take time to put together. Or they have early travel and they have to get everything ready a few weeks in advance of the cruise. I joined this DIS group after the date. Some families have said they would add our family to their FE list. We have purchased small trinkets, nothing overly special, for everyone on the FE list. As of the last time I checked, there were 18 cabins and about 60 people (adult and children) participating. We ordered an FE (the hanger) on eBay.

As to missing anything, you will get the Navigator each night. I think this is where the fish clip thing outside your door comes into the picture. The Navigator is like a newsletter telling you everything you need to know about the next day. Times, places, movies, activities, special dining, etc. Some have posted scanned in Navigators online. They also have a TV channel (or two) that gives you information on what is going on.

Hope that helps!

- Michael

I have some extra gifts we are bringing for the younger crowd, so we will leave some gifts outside your door. I made extra just for this reason. I have never done the FE before, but it will be fun. Please don't stress about giving us gilts....just your friendship.

Just come on the cruise and enjoy / relax as best you can. I doubt anyone can do it all......just enjoy!

Thanks for the info. I have a question about dinner. What are we supposed to wear for TS dining? Better yet, what are we NOT supposed to wear? Thanks!

Well, I STILL do not have my travel docs or luggage tags from my TA. She told me she sent them Monday priority mail. I think she lied. Starting to get miffed now:mad:

Crazy story about my travel agent. The company is right here in NC, sent them to her in Connecticut to verify for accuracy, and then she sent them to NC where I live. I'm not going through a travel agent again, just because I need to be in control

I'd be really annoyed too... that doesn't sound like much of a priority to me!!! ugh...

Where in Liberty Twp are you? I'm on the corner of Kyles Station and Yankee.

Just realized I don't think I ever responded to this! :sad2: We are on Kyle Station by Cherokee. We go to Mother Teresa, 1st and 4th this year. Sounds like I drive by your house regularly!

Trying to catch up on the posts. 20 pages I'm behind :scared1: Still a good way to procrastinate ;)

To all who are joining the FE late will try to get you guys some stuff too! Now just to find you all...

Noticed someone here is making tutus for Pirate Night. Anyone listen to the Podcast? Tootus for Tanner.... :lmao:

I forgot who asked about what people were wearing for Pirate night, but the kids are wearing pirate t-shirts and khaki shorts, pirate bandanas...maybe and eyepatch....that's it. We also have Jack Sparrow hats and will bring them too - we will see what they feel like wearing. The adults will wear a little something. Maybe a bandana and some pirate jewels....

On our first cruise we all were decked out in full pirate costumes because we were under the impression that the vast majority would be too... WRONG! Hardly anyone was wearing pirate stuff and we felt way out of place. We sat at dinner and looked around - there was maybe one or two others and that was it... so strange... the kids were not happy at all. They are not the types that like to stand out. :sad2: At least this way they will have pirate things on but will blend in.

SO TRUE! It was fun and the CM's loved that we were all dressed up but the costumes took up WAY too much space in the luggage. My DH is already freaking about the thought of one suitcase for the FE stuff (did I mention I went a little crazy again?) ANYWAY, just got us some pirate T-shirts and will do bandanas-oh wait! Need to get the bandanas! This trip is coming up way too fast AND way to slowly!!

Thanks for the info. I have a question about dinner. What are we supposed to wear for TS dining? Better yet, what are we NOT supposed to wear? Thanks!

Here is a good link discussing dress code on the cruise. There will be two cruise casual nights, one pirate / tropical theme night, and one semiformal night. Of course if you want to skip one of those, you can go to the cabanas or get room service.

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/faqs/onboard-dining/dining-attire/

The main thing I have heard to avoid while dining is tank tops, shorts and denim.
