August 12, 2006-DIS DREAMS DO COME TRUE-Magical Western Cruise

Thanks Laura - it's great to be back. I sure did miss the DIS. I think I will take my laptop to New York so I can at least try to sign on a time or two. The weather in the UK was not that great. It was cold and rainy, but we didn't let that stop us. We really had a lot of fun. I am trying to put together a short trip report for my Med cruise thread so I will post it here also if you guys are interested.

Have a great day everyone!

Leilani,
How sweet of you to go back and read and respond to everyone's postings! We missed you while you were gone.
My DD is in a 3 + 3 program for a doctorate in physical therapy. She was so torn between medicine (ortho like your DH) but our next door neighbor is a surgeon at Hopkins and he took her to the hospital to meet women doctors. They all discouraged Jess since she wants to be a mom as well. The lives they have are so hectic and they never get anytime with their kids. Jess felt that this new program in pt where you get your doctorate was a good balance.I have a feeling that she is going to get involved with public health policy. She is very active in politics and is on the Board of Trustees at her school. She is so excited about the dissection and calls daily with a new story. She named her body "huey" he is a 78 year old man with a pacemaker.

DH is making progress, but still in much pain. He went off all pain meds because he was having some withdrawal type symptoms as he was reducing them. The doctor made him go cold turkey and we had some difficult times with that, but it is much better now. We still have to limit his activity and I hope by the time we go he will be up for the dolphin swim and all the walking at Disney.

Last two weeks of school are very busy. We have an 8th grade graduation party for youngest DD and I turn 50 tomorrow, so that should be fun. Hope everyone had a great weekend. The weather turned much cooler here in MD.

Oh YES , PLEASE !!!!
It will be nice to "see" MY old Europe :) :) through your eyes !!!

:wave2: Laura

Hope you had a Happy Birthday Michelle! :cake: I sure wish we had some of that cooler weather you were talking about, today was my son's field day at school and I spent the day there, it was hot and miserably humid. The heat didn't seem to bother the kids at all, just the parents! -Donna

How nice to get all these Birthday wishes! Thank-you all! It has been a wonderful day.
One of my friends is retiring this year and I will be singing a fun song for him on Thursday from "Pippin". In the song she gives advice about living life, but she refers to how terrribly old she is. It turns out she is 66. Well, now that I have turned 50, 66 doesn't seem that old! I think I will change the lyric to 86.
Chuck turns 47 this Sunday so we will have another celebration then. I hope I can fit into my dress for formal night.

Thanks again.
Michelle

My husband and I have our birthdays close together too. They are in Jan. I hate having them so close after Christmas. I have been thinking the same thing about my formal dress, I want to drop a few pounds before cruising. I know I always gain weight during the cruise. So much good food! -Donna

Where has Beckie been? I have not seen her on here in awhile. Here it is the calm before the storm...there is lot's to do for our move but not right now. Of course once it begins it will be like trying to drink from a fire hose! Hopefully at least maybe it will make the time seem to go by faster for the cruise. We are going to Raleigh in about 10 days. At least there is decent shopping there!! :yay: Hopefully I will find a Disney Store that has that matching shirt I need for DS. Also need to do the dreaded SWIMSUIT search :scared1: -Donna

Hi All!

Just giving us a little bump back up to page 1.

We have a soccer tournament this weekend so it is pretty busy around here. Alyssa had a one game tonight, she will play twice tomorrow and then one game on Sunday. I sure am glad I only have one playing. Some of our friends have 3 kids playing and they must be living at the soccer complex this weekend.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

School's over for the kids - now DW and I have to get thru 2 months of swim team. Luckily that will make time fly. (We do a lot of coordination and automation for the team so it keeps us busy everyday after work).

I did still want to see if the Maryland contingent was interested in a get together the last weekend in July (the 29th or 30th) or the first weekend in August (5th or 6th). DW and I were thinking getting together at our neighborhood pool and then doing a BBQ afterward.

Let me know if you're interested - if not, we'll see you on the Magic. :cool1:

I know I read that there was a quick meeting being organized on Deck 10 I thought before or during the sailaway party. Did that ever get confirmed? If so could someone tell me what time and where. Thanks,
John

We are still interested in the MD get together. I would prefer the last weekend in July. It would be great if it worked out, but please with your busy schedule don't feel any pressure to do it.

I thought the sailaway party was 4:30 Deck 9 midship. I remember someone (probably Beckie) suggesting we get together, but I don't recall the details. It would mean going back through 43 pages of posts!
Hopefully someone will have written it down.

We made it through DD 8th grade graduation party. We rented a moonbounce and since we have 2 girls, we never realized that boys have a death wish. They wanted to tip it, climb up the walls, and one boy suggested jumping off our deck and into the moonbounce. We quickly learned the difference between boys and girls.

Three more days of school. I do think I will need at least another week to clean up my classroom and file everything I have been putting off on the side until I had time.

Everyone have a great week!

Michelle

Either weekend will be fine with us. I'm sure it will be a welcome break from moving! Just let me know what to bring. I'm not sure what time the onboard meet is taking place. Only 2 months until we sail!!! :sail: :dogdance: School ended last Friday, today I took ds and his friend to a waterslide park. Got a little more sun than I bargained for. -Donna

I was wondering if any of you have kids that would be interested in exchanging email/IM's with my son. He did this before the last cruise and met other kids thru the dis boards before the cruise. If interested send me a PM
and I will send you his email. Thanks!-Donna :sunny:

Hey - we have almost fallen to page three. Where is everybody? We just had two pieces of good news yesterday..or at least good things happening regarding the cruise!

Both DD passports arrived in the mail yesterday! :yay:

And we got the dreaded "change in itinerary" email from USAirways regarding our flights. We were already cutting it a little close, arriving at MCO around 11 a.m. so I was worried. :sad2: Our flight got moved EARLIER which gets us to MCO before 10 a.m. I'm very happy about that ! Now we don't have to be the last people on the ship. :thumbsup2

Just thought I'd share and get us moved back up to page one.

Has anyone used Disney Transfers from the Grand Floridian? If so what time do they usually pick-up and get you to the ship? I was hoping it would be morning but haven't got any info in mail yet about specifics. : :sad2: Thanks John :teeth:
