I thought the sailaway party was 4:30 Deck 9, midship. I remember someone (probably Beckie) suggesting we get together...

 CIAOOOOOOOO everybody !!!
:beach: We just got back from French Riviera !!! Splendid weather, sun and blue sky !!! Refreshing breeze and :Pinkbounc :bounce: lots of sea food !!!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce:
:guilty: Still have to unpack and ... :laundy:
Anyway : I missed you all !!

MICHELLE : yes, you're right !!!
SAIL AWAY CELEBRATION usually takes place after the mandatory boat drill.
All of us could get together for our first DIS meet during sail away party at 4:30 , DECK 9, midship, aside the GOOFY'S POOL STAGE , starboard . :dance3:
(Starboard = when you face the stage pirate: our group will be meeting at your right hand side )

:grouphug: We had this kind of meeting on previous cruises ; there is plenty of time for fun :dance3: and still people with the first seating can relax and get dressed for dinner .

IMHO it's a nice way to introduce one another ... thus being able to recognize friends :yay: :yay: all around the ship on following days !!! :dance3:

:cheer2: What do you think of ? any thoughts ?

Laura

It sounds like you had a wonderful trip. We love seafood here in Maryland, especially crab.

Our last day of school was yesterday, but I was back again today to pack up and file stuff. I work 100 hours over the summer for my job helping to place students in internships for next year, but I get to pick when.

We are heading to NY next week to see my DD favorite show "Phantom".

I think it would be nice if we all tried to meet and just say hi.

Chuck was chatting with one of his doctors who just got back from the Disney cruise. The loved Cozumel, but said Grand Cayman was not that great and he suggested staying on the boat that day. Any thoughts?

Hi everyone, I'm back.

We have been back several days but I haven't been able to get any time in on the DIS. We had a great trip to WDW but I didn't have time to do everything I wanted but then again I never do. :confused3

We had our first Tropical Storm this past week and did recieve some much needed rain, most of the wild fires are now out.

WDW was wonderful the first part of our stay at Wilderness Lodge Concierge was so much fun. We meet-up with some of our DIS friends and spent the first three days with them. Sunday we moved over to the Villas for the week and other family members arrived. For the most part we all had a great time. We had a total of 15 family members so having everyone going in the same direction at the same time was a challenge.

What I was most excited about is my mother and dad joined us. It was my dad's first time at Wilderness Lodge, I have been trying to get him there for years. He loved the Lodge hopefully I can plan another visit soon.

Now I can concentrate on our cruise, I need to go back through same of the post and update some information.

I'm glad you're back and had a great trip. Can't wait until August, Jeanne told me that additional AP rates have been released for after August 6th so if anyone going down pre-cruise should check for some good room prices.

Did your Father enjoy the helicopter tour? Can't wait to see you and Marco.

Beckie

Laura & Beckie - welcome back. I'm glad you both had a great trip.

Michelle - we will be in New York next week also. My DD loves "Phantom" too but we are going to see "Beauty and the Beast" this time. We will be there from Sunday to Wednesday. On Wednesday we are taking the train to Niagara Falls. It will be an all girls trip with me and the girls, my mom, mom's sister, and Rich's mom. So it should be a lot of fun.

wildfire rumor - welcome aboard. We will have a meet once we are on board. Deck 9, starboard, midship, at 4:30pm. Hope you can join us!

Alyssa has her dance recital this weekend and I am trying to pack for New York so things are a bit crazy arond here. She is at dress rehearsal right now, then she will have another one in the morning, hair appointment in the afternoon, and then the recital tomorrow night.

LeiLani

Thanks for the Welcome back...Welcome back to you also. Hope your trip to to UK was great. I guess Louise isn't back yet.

Wildfire

First WELCOME to the DIS. Welcome to our Cruise Meet Thread yes ::yes:: we are planning a meet the first day.

About the DIS Meet:

I posted a new thread over on the main DCL thread before I left on my vacation asking about what others have done for meet times and locations for a great DIS Meet.

Most seem to have gone with a 3:00-3:45pm meet at the Promenade Lounge for the official DIS Meet. This location was chosen in the past because it's indoors safe from rain, and an air conditioned area. (the August sun can be brutal) After the safty drill 4:30pm we could move it up to Deck 10 (less crowded than deck 9) for the Sail-Away Party Starboard side next to the DCL Terminal so we can wave  to the Cast Members on shore. This seems like the best of both locations. This will give everyone two options to drop by. :thumbsup2

So what would everyone like to do? :confused3

I have found many people are hesitant when it comes to losing the anonymity
we all enjoy here on the DIS. But so much fun if they can let their guard down a little and stop by and say Hello.

Thanks
Beckie

Hi Donna

I like the Promenade Lounge area because we should be the only ones there and will be able to talk before all the festivities start. I know that some with main dining maybe rushed if we only have the meet during Sail-Away.

Just wondering if there will be a meeting of the DISers going on this cruise. This will be my first Disney cruise and I'm interested to make some new cruiser friends. :cool1:

Wildfire rumor : very welcome to DIS and our DIS group !!!
Where are you from ? We have already people from Maryland,Florida,Pensylvania,Iowa,NorthCarolina and Italy (myself and DH).

As you see from previous posts we are trying RIGHT NOW to find the best location on board for our meet ... so, if you like , join in !!!! :grouphug:

Whom are you cruising with ?
Have you planned activities on board - ashore ?

CIAO !!! :wave2: Laura

Ciao , BECKIE !!! :yay: :yay:
NICE to have you back !!!
SOOOOOO GLAD that you could have Dad with you at WL !!! :lovestruc

I love the opt of TWO DIFFERENT TIMES for our DIS group SAILAWAY celebration party :
we know that on first day everyone has to settle in their stateroom or explore the ship or make/change reservations ... so , maybe , if someone cannot make it to PROMENADE LOUNGE  :drinking1 will show up on deck 10 for the sail away party !!!! party:

May I suggest we pick a LOCATION also on deck 10 ???
maybe in front of the stack, near the railing (shown on the back of the picture here below)????

Is , maybe , someone wishing to prepare a DIS- sign :dance3: to direct all of us to "our meeting point " on deck 10 ???

5.gif

As you see a couple of years ago we had a nice group of DIS friends on the Magic.
We organized to gather all together :grouphug: on deck during the Sailaway party.
To be sure that everybody could find our meeting-corner, a DISer (Beachgirls) prepared THIS “big poster” (a flag?) :Pinkbounc and held it up at the beginning of the party , so that our happy group could gather for his very first happy DIS meet !!!

Maybe we too could have something like that for our meeting !!

I don't know if I have mentioned that we are taking Alyssa's friend with us. We took her to WDW over spring break and it was a blessing having someone along to keep Alyssa busy. So we decided to invite her along this summer.

LeiLani

Opps, I was rereading the post and saw that Madeline would be joining your group. Would hate not having a goody bag for Miss Madeline. As she and Alyssa are friends I assume she is about the same age but maybe older or younger :confused3 would you mind telling me her age?

Beckie

Happy Saturday everyone!

Beckie - I think the two locations are great. The meet before hand would give us a chance to talk without all the loud music. I also think Deck 10 is better than 9 because you do have more room and like you said you can wave to the cast members. We always try to go to Deck 10 mid-ship to watch the sail-away party. It's a great location. I usually have Rich and the girls take the life jackets back to the cabin and I go directly to Deck 10 to save a spot and grab a few chairs just in case. Yes, Madeline is the same age as Alyssa. She went with us to WDW for spring break and it was great for Alyssa to have someone to hang out with, so we thought why not bring her on the cruise. It's so sweet of you to do something for all the kids.

Big recital day today and I am trying to finish packing for New York. If I don't have the chance to get back online before tomorrow I hope everyone has a great week and I will be back a week from Monday. :cool1:

LeiLani

Have a great trip and enjoy the time with your family. We'll be here when you return.

Welcome back Beckie and Laura. It sounds like both of you are off to a good start to summer! I like the idea of 2 meeting places/times. You were talking about someone making a sign, I am not very crafty but there a local place here that prints banners. I could get something done there. Let me know. Donna :boat:

Need everyone to pick a Slogan for our cruise.

Here are the sugguestions we received so let me know the one you like best.
Phrases can contain up to 25 characters.

"MAGICAL MEMORY CRUISE"
"MAGICAL MEMORIES CRUISE"
"WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR"
"DREAMS DO COME TRUE"
"DIS DREAMS DO COME TRUE"
"DREAM WEAVERS"

Please let me know ASAP or add a new one to the list.

I know lots of people say that GC is "so so" but I have to tell you that my family (at the time just one DD) and I went to the Westin GC for a week and had a fantastic time. Great beaches, beautiful water, nice people, good shopping, etc. This was all before the hurricane that devestated the island, but I hear that things are bouncing back quickly and that the island is getting back to normal these days. We actually have rented a day room at the Westin for the day so that we can enjoy all facilities, including a great pool and swim up bar. :cool1: Cost of this is actually similar to the cost of any of the DCL beach breaks (about $145 including all taxes). Now, our only risk is that the ship can't dock there due to bad weather and then we lose our opportunity (and that money). Anyway, with a 7 and 2 year old, we thought htis was a great way to spend the day in GC.

Jeff

I think your idea is GREAT and sounds like a mini-vacation in the middle of a vacation. With your young children and the pool, plus access for a nap if they need it...great plan. :thumbsup2 Here's hoping we will all enjoy Grand Cayman. (I CAN'T WAIT)
