Hope you have a fabulous day. Fireworks are illegal here in NYC and I am not a big fan of them anyway. I think they are way too dangerous for the common person.

Happy Independence Day!
I've never seen the appeal for personal fireworks, either. But then again, I lived in Louisville where the 4th's fireworks were good, but nothing on Thunder Over Louisville - the big kick off for Derby Madness.
Here we have Thunder on the Mountain, the local municipalities get together and have a big fireworks do over the statue of Vulcan on Red Mountain. I could stay here at work and watch them from the deck, but family calls.
Happy Birthday to Josh! And MM looks like he's having a BALL at the lake - buddying around with dog pals, rolling on the grass, swimming in the lake...it's good to be a dog!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSH!!!!
I've been sick for several days, so haven't been online much at all, but I've been keeping up with your photos. They are so relaxing and beautiful. I've also been busy (as in, work an hour, rest an hour) getting ready for Dan's cousins coming tomorrow from California. They will be here a week and we just found out Dan can't take time off due to a project at work not going according to plan.
Hope you all have a wonderful day today and that Josh does indeed take the day off. Enjoy!
You just gave me such a flash-back! I have relatives in Montgomery and I remember that Vulcan statue. It sort of creeped me out when I was little. Fireworks on Red Mountain sounds great, though!
YA HOO to the 45 day mark!
we are getting soooo close. I am jealous you can start packing. I am going to have to wait until atleast Aug. Then as I do laundry I can sneak one or two of her items into my room in a suitcase.

AFTER you photoshop MM into it, can't you just see him right in front of the table in between you & Josh
I love the family photo from the 4th. I agree with Ruthie, you need to photo shop MM & frame it, or/and send it out for holiday cards!I lived in Birmingham as a child... I remember the Vulcan. My uncle told me (I was 4) that the statue came alive whenever her heard fireworks...which is why we never went there for fireworks!
I have not been back as an adult...but when I was in 5th grade and Star Trek first came out I was TERRIFIED that the Vulcan had come to life!!!
But I have always wondered...what the heckie pooh is the Vulcan supposed to represent?
Nini
Vulcan is the Roman god of the forge. Red Mountain is Red Mountain because of the big ol' vein of iron ore in it. So Vulcan (one of the largest, if not the largest, cast iron statue in the world) represents Birmingham's iron/steel industry...which is what made this Magic City magically spring up after the Civil War. Vulcan park actually overlooks (or includes) an abandoned mine. Another fun fact: he only wears an apron and therefore moons the city on the other side of the mountain.

Sorry for the highjack, D.
Your family 4th & Josh's birthday sounds like fun! Glad you had some relax time!
Can't wait to live vicariously as you pack & cram to make some beautiful Bags for your very own personal use!
I cannot wait to show her, and I cannot wait to show all of you.... I have been teasing her for weeks that it's an Ariel bag (which is isn't) - so she is a bit...
I still have a lot of work to do on it, many more small details, so I plan to get up there and get to work asap.
