~Aug 2013~ Sew what~We've gotta find a way back-Part II- TR link posted - 8/31

Have a wonderful safe 4th! Love the retro picture. hehehe I love mischevious characters. I hope Alli recovered and isn't traumatized. ;)

Hope Josh has a wonderful birthday. And a relaxing one.

Happy Independence Day!

I've never seen the appeal for personal fireworks, either. But then again, I lived in Louisville where the 4th's fireworks were good, but nothing on Thunder Over Louisville - the big kick off for Derby Madness.

Here we have Thunder on the Mountain, the local municipalities get together and have a big fireworks do over the statue of Vulcan on Red Mountain. I could stay here at work and watch them from the deck, but family calls.

Happy Birthday to Josh! And MM looks like he's having a BALL at the lake - buddying around with dog pals, rolling on the grass, swimming in the lake...it's good to be a dog!

Happy 4th of July! :cheer2:

Your Magic, Memories, and You bag is very clever. I really like it.

Ah, that pic of MM makes me want to be able to give him a big belly rub. So cute. :goodvibes

Hope everyone had a nice 4th of July.

:wave2: Rememebr me??? I just stopped by to wish you a wonderful holiday!

Hi Judy - hope you and your family had a happy 4th.

Hope you have a fabulous day. Fireworks are illegal here in NYC and I am not a big fan of them anyway. I think they are way too dangerous for the common person.

I totally agree with this statement. And with D~'s about being too expensive. But mostly I'm just too nervous and don't trust people to light off fireworks. Plus, if there is no castle in view I just don't enjoy them as much.

D~ enjoying all the pictures from the lake and the vintage WDW pictures. A+ to the girls for trying to water ski.

Happy Birthday to Josh, hope he takes today off to celebrate.

We are at my mom's enjoying visiting with family and spending time at the beach and the pool. The rip currents are very bad this week so we decided to skip the beach and head to the pool yesterday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSH!!!!

I've been sick for several days, so haven't been online much at all, but I've been keeping up with your photos. They are so relaxing and beautiful. I've also been busy (as in, work an hour, rest an hour) getting ready for Dan's cousins coming tomorrow from California. They will be here a week and we just found out Dan can't take time off due to a project at work not going according to plan. :badpc:

Hope you all have a wonderful day today and that Josh does indeed take the day off. Enjoy!:flower3:

You just gave me such a flash-back! I have relatives in Montgomery and I remember that Vulcan statue. It sort of creeped me out when I was little. Fireworks on Red Mountain sounds great, though!

I lived in Birmingham as a child... I remember the Vulcan. My uncle told me (I was 4) that the statue came alive whenever her heard fireworks...which is why we never went there for fireworks!

I have not been back as an adult...but when I was in 5th grade and Star Trek first came out I was TERRIFIED that the Vulcan had come to life!!!

But I have always wondered...what the heckie pooh is the Vulcan supposed to represent?

Good morning everyone! Thank you for all the 4th of July wishes, and for all the birthday wishes for Josh.

Just, thanks for stopping by, it's good to see you, I hope you and the family are well.

We had a wonderful and relaxing day yesterday, the lake never calmed down, and it's still quite tough this morning.

20130705_070908.jpg

We had a few of our lake neighbors over for fish/pheasant fry, which was wonderful!

Unfortunately, since the lake was tough, we didn't get out on the water at all yesterday, even for fireworks last night. However, we did sit on the dock and enjoy what we could see from there.

Today is Joshs birthday... He is still sleeping. The girls and I plan to take everyone to Zorbaz (local popular pizza restaurant on the lake) for lunch to celebrate his birthday. Hopefully we will be able to get him out on the lake too.

Today is a big day in my trip countdown.... Whoot!

I am super excited to get home from the lake to begin our packing in earnest.

I am also hoping to finish Allis bag this week while I am simultaneously working on custom orders. This bag is just so epic, and I am dying to show you all. I am also hoping to make a few coordinating wallets for our bags, but I must finish the bags first.

Ok.... So, for todays vintage photo... Let's see what I have left in my photobucket acct... I love V's smile on this one. Lol

I hope all of you have a wonderful day... Prayers continue to go out to all in need.

Happy Birthday to Josh !!!!

Hope you have a fantastic day today. Have fun and enjoy your family.

:cool1:YA HOO to the 45 day mark! :goodvibes we are getting soooo close. I am jealous you can start packing. I am going to have to wait until atleast Aug. Then as I do laundry I can sneak one or two of her items into my room in a suitcase. :)

Happy Birthday to Josh.

I'm not on the computer much due to the extreme heat. We only have a/c in the upstairs bedrooms. So trying to keep the electronics off as much as possible to keep the house cool.

Can't wait to see the bags!

So Zorbas, are you in Brainerd? My brothers live there and I know there is a place around there with that name. Not sure if it's a chain.

Glad you are all having a great vaca! It looks wonderful up there

Hope Josh had a great day!:bday:

Loving your lake photos. DH & I used to visit a friend on a lake in Maine. We really loved how relaxed we always felt there. Your photos remind me of there. Looks like you're having a wonderful time!!!

Love all your vintage photos!

Your countdown scares me because I know mine is even smaller. I better get the kids working on their summer reading. Poor Joe hasn't had much of a summer yet. Their last day was last Thursday. We brought Joe & Emma to a math tutoring facility to be tested Friday. They both went for their first session Monday. Joe got braces Wednesday. They had another math session Thursday morning (yes on the 4th!) but Joe had to get up early to do homework first. He's a bit better today with his teeth but he's still pretty miserable.

Good morning all! It's a rainy dreary icky day at the lake today. We have been so blessed with wonderful weather, so it's a but sad to have such crummy weather today. However, it's appropriate, as we are packing up and headed home today.

We all had so much fun yesterday... This post will have more photos than necessary, I am sure.

First off, we took Josh to Zorbaz for his birthday lunch (can't remember who asked and I can't look at the moment, but Zorbaz is a semi local pizza chain, which has restaurants on many of the biggest/most popular lakes in MN -we are lucky because ours is one of them). Their pizza is amazing!

IMG_3861.jpg

Then we came back to the house...Joshs uncle drive over from a neighboring lake with his grandson... So we took them out in the boat and pulled the girls behind for a while....

IMG_3907.jpg

IMG_3916.jpg

Then they decided to get a little cocky... So we had to dump them. Lol

IMG_3937.jpg

Afterwards, we came back to the house, and the girls decided to take some goofy photos on Grandpas camera...

Then they wanted to wear their Zorbaz sweatshirts...

And the photobomber...

IMG_3959.jpg

Probably my all time favorite one...

The end...

I am not sure how many vintage disney photos I have left in my album.... Hopefully this isn't a rerun...

We'll, I better get to work.... Josh is already packing up... He said it's supposed to storm badly this afternoon... Not sure if he wants to head out before or after the storms?

I will also leave you with a family photo I forgot to post from the 4th...

IMG_3855.jpg

I hope you all have an amazing day... Prayers go out to all in need.

Love the last picture you should print it out and frame it :) AFTER you photoshop MM into it, can't you just see him right in front of the table in between you & Josh :thumbsup2

Glad you had wonderful weather & a wonderful time, be careful of the storms coming home

What a great update! It looks like you all had so much fun. How sweet that your girls love to act silly together. Isn't that the BEST? Great photo bomb. :rotfl2: I love the family photo from the 4th. I agree with Ruthie, you need to photo shop MM & frame it, or/and send it out for holiday cards!

Safe travels home.

:offtopic:Vulcan is the Roman god of the forge. Red Mountain is Red Mountain because of the big ol' vein of iron ore in it. So Vulcan (one of the largest, if not the largest, cast iron statue in the world) represents Birmingham's iron/steel industry...which is what made this Magic City magically spring up after the Civil War. Vulcan park actually overlooks (or includes) an abandoned mine. Another fun fact: he only wears an apron and therefore moons the city on the other side of the mountain.

Sorry for the highjack, D. :upsidedow

Your family 4th & Josh's birthday sounds like fun! Glad you had some relax time!

Can't wait to live vicariously as you pack & cram to make some beautiful Bags for your very own personal use!

OK...THAT makes sense! (and I knew about the moon part. My mom hated one of my uncles for pointing that out to me!)

And...I guess that fills in a bit of family history. I never asked why our family left Nashville to go to Birmingham. Knowing about the iron makes sense...My grandfather was moved there by his job. I know he worked in the metal industry...just not too much about it. Some of thebits and pieces are starting to fill in.....

Good morning everyone!

We are home - safe and sound. After 4 hours on the road yesterday - we are all still exhausted. But it feels good to be back home.

Josh plans to work all day around the house... So guess what that means??? I get to work on Alli's bag! Whoot!!! There is a VERY SMALL glimmer of hope that I might be able to finish it today. :cheer2: I cannot wait to show her, and I cannot wait to show all of you.... I have been teasing her for weeks that it's an Ariel bag (which is isn't) - so she is a bit... :scared: I still have a lot of work to do on it, many more small details, so I plan to get up there and get to work asap. ::yes::

I am also working on culling all of my excess ADRs I have had booked for several weeks. None of my dates have changed from what was previously posted, but I did tweek some of my ADRs to get better times. So, I will be putting all of those extras back in the pool this week. That will be a big relief, because it was starting to get confusing there for a little while. One thing I do LOVE about My Disney Experience, is they keep all of your ADRs right there, in the same place where you can see them all lined up like soldiers... It makes it very easy to see what you have and what you need to get rid of. :thumbsup2

**********************************************************

I am starting to run low on vintage photos... I may have to start posting from our 2008 trip soon... :scratchin

I hope each of you has a magnificant day today - prayers continue to go out to all in need. :grouphug:
