~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

I'm very impressed with your Target deals! I was there Sunday and saw the signs for the $10 off, but the only thing I needed was the magic erasers. At least they were on sale - but I didn't need $40 worth :) Our nurse at work is leaving to go back to school so I bought her some to clean her nurses crocs :thumbsup2 I'm making her a back to school package.

I also noticed the mickey blanket on the couch in your picture - so you were a fan even back in the day ;)

Thanks Stephanie! Yah - if all you needed was magic erasers, it really didn't pay for you to participate in the $40 deal. :rolleyes1 That was great decision making on your part.

Sooo... Tell me - what exactly is in a BTS package?

LOL... That Mickey blanket was actually a bean bag - the girls LOVED that thing... I think I eventually had to send it to the trash though, because it lost all of it's beans... And back then - I didn't sew - ever. :confused3

FYI....I just looked at Southwest and the price seems to have gone down since this morning. My arrival flight was $210 this morning and is now $186....AAHHHHH....But I can't book it until I hear from Sara! Just wanted to let you know...maybe they run lunchtime specials??

I've been checking obsessively for the last few days... No specials yet. :headache: Super glad you got your airfare... So what price did you end up booking at? I can't remember if you told me elsewhere or not?

Not sure why I am so far behind but I've been following along but not posting. I LOVE the SSE bag. The colors are beautiful and I can see why Mr. Rocket didn't want to cooperate with all that quilting. Amazing work.

Thanks Liz!

How fun that you guys got some pixie dust in the mail. That is sure to brighten your day. V is a beautiful girl but she looks gorgeous in that picture with her hair and make-up done. Her smile is extra sparkly with her braces off. But I can see why Josh doesn't like it one bit. He's probably training MM to bark at all the boys that will be coming to your house.

Thanks Liz - it did brighten our day - that's for sure. It actually brightened our week. :thumbsup2

LOL Yes, Josh is rather old fashioned... He'd like the girls wrapped in a coat all year long. :rotfl2: Can't say as I blame him... There's been a few times I've had to send them back upstairs to change.

Glad you seem to be recovering from the rash and I'm impressed with all your saving. It is nice to save money on things you already buy. I usually use "Southern Savers" website because she covers the grocery stores we have here. She also does Target and CVS. She has a video that walks people thru getting started with using coupons that would probably be helpful to anyone no matter what stores they shop at.

Hope everyone is enjoying their snow day.

Thanks! Yes, it is nice to save $$ on things we are going to buy anyways.

I'll have to look into the southern savers... although - I think I am beyond the "getting started" phase. :rolleyes1 My binder is quite full.

Wow D, I love the Spaceship Earth bag!

I'm really impressed by your couponing skills. The laugh n learn puppy is adorable. That's a steal at $5. Your nephew will love it.

Thanks Ashley!!! How are you feeling? It's great to see you on The Dis!

I bet you could still get the coupons for that puppy... There's a manufacturer coupon on coupons.com and there's a Target one on Target.com - combine them both together. If you're interested, that is. One thing though - they were both there yesterday, not sure if they are both there to day (I haven't looked).

I've been very bad about getting on here lately but so glad to hear you are healing well. Hope you got a lot done on your snow day. We are preparing for POSSIBLE snow here tomorrow into Thursday. We are close to the rain/snow line and lower (2-4 inches) amounts but it could be more. We have not missed a full day due to snow yet this year. Gonna due my best to get more of my TR X 2 updated soon and maybe start ANOTHER PTR for California this summer.

It's OK - it's great to see you back! I can't wait to see your TR updates... Did you get them done? I have to go over to that page to look - I rarely get over there these days... :confused3

**********************************************************

Yesterday was such an odd day!

The girls were off of school due to snow... Josh was home from work due to his back... So - it was like a weekend - except I had to work. LOL

I was able to finish the appliques for both the bag and wallet... I plan to work on assembly today. I really hope to finish both - but this bag has a difficult assembly - so it will probably take me much longer than I anticipate.

I also asked a good Dis friend for some advise - and she gave me some great bag ideas for upcoming auctions... I am very excited about them... I can't wait to show you all when the time comes. :thumbsup2

**********************************************************

In trip related news... Josh was acutally shopping for airfare for the girls and I last night. He was ready to buy at (OUCH - cough - cough) $1200/rt... Um no, honey, we have to hold out until it's -$800/rt (preferably -$700 r/t)... LOL I've been checking obsessively for the last few days... I really hope to have some of our plans set in stone in the next few weeks. Even though our trip is booked - it still doesn't feel real to me. I'd much rather have it paid off by now. :scratchin But - I'll just keep chipping away at it.

That's about all I have for today... I hope you all have a fantastic day today... Oh - and I will be back in a little bit to post some more Mini-Planner pages. :woohoo:

D~

Sooo... Tell me - what exactly is in a BTS package?

So far we've got notebooks, mechanical pencils, nice pen, pads of paper, dividers, etc. We're buying her a nice back pack to put it all in. Just your usually back to school paraphernalia ::yes::

Came back to add - I read somewhere that those magic erasers work great on crocs, so I gave her one last week and it made her white crocs look new, so I got her a supply of those.

$1200 for airfare is crazy. :scared1: I really hope SW or one of the other airlines comes out with a good sale that works for you soon. It sure is nice (and cheaper) living in driving distance to WDW. We are headed to Michigan and Pennsylvania for spring break in a few weeks so I'm hoping it warms up so we don't have to worry about driving thru the snow and ice.

Can't wait to see what you come up with for your upcoming auctions.

Your spaceship earth bag is very nice. I really like the interior fabrics.

I love your planning calendar. I assume you have photoshop?

Wow...$1200 is a LOT for airfare. I can't believe how high the airfares and car rentals have been.

Hope you have a glorious day and NO MORE SNOW this year.

D!! Your bags seriously just keep getting more and more awesome! I still love mine to this very day! (and I'm kinda super thrilled I got one of the first ones....idk why :confused3 )

ANYWAY, I've been finding myself lurking over these boards again....which got my Disney lovin' wheels in motion....so I'm TRYING to plan another trip!

But I did want to pop in and say hello...let you know I'm back and creepin'. oh and that sewing machine I posted on your fb wall FOREVER ago. It never worked. and we couldnt figure out how to fix it. So.....its on my birthday wish list. we'll see how that goes.

OMG Just got the SSE bag in the mail! The pictures so did not do it justice. The stitchwork just pops out at you. It looks just like SSE! Ah-Mazing. Thank you so much!!!

I’ve been meaning to do a post about friendship….

I have been so very fortunate here on The Dis to have some very amazing friends. I’ve “met” most of you due to my sewing and my PTR/TR… Some of you have been here for a while, some of you are new, some of you have been here and gone, maybe come back again, maybe not… Whatever your story, or your reason for being here, I consider all of you my friends.

I learned something about friendship many years ago… It was something that I would carry with me every day for the rest of my life.

You see – it was the late 80’s, I was maybe 13 years old… I was riding in the back seat of a car, a red Ford Escort Wagon – if you must know. My bff’s Dad was driving, and my bff was the passenger. Her dad had stopped at the gas station to treat us to a can of soda, and when reaching in the back seat of the car to grab a hand-full of change out of the ashtray, he discovered all of his change missing. He asked me if I could see any back there, and I replied “no” – I didn’t even know he kept change there. So, he asked my bff if she had taken it, and she said “no” as well. As the conversation progressed, we discovered that the last person to ride in the back seat was a mutual friend – who was known for taking items that didn’t belong to her. Sitting in that back seat, my bff’s dad said something to my bff that I will never forget, and it has impacted every single friendship I have ever had since – including my friendship with her… He told my bff “true friends are very hard to come by – boyfriends will come and go… other friends will come and go… but your true friends will be there for you, forever.” I promised myself, right then and there, that the friends I allowed into my life would be true friends; in return, I would be the truest friend that I could be to every person that I encountered.

Many years later, just out of high school, my bff’s dad gave us more wise advice… Trust is earned, never given – and once lost, it is very hard to ever get back. Wise, wise words from a wise, wise man – and they rung true in my ears. I knew, at that point in time, I wanted trustworthy friends in my life. I would never have a friend that I didn’t trust, nor could I ever be a friend to someone who didn’t trust me.

It wasn’t that long later my bff’s Dad died. He impacted our lives in such amazing ways, and taught us things in a way that they would stick with us forever. My bff from jr. high and high school is still one of my closest friends today – we don’t live near each other – and we don’t get to talk often, but when we do – it’s like that time was never there – I know that I can call her, day or night – any time, and she would be there for me, as I would for her.

I have formed many bonds in real life & here on The Dis… I think that most of you would agree, that no matter how long you have “known” me, I have done my best to make you feel like you belonged and that you are a true friend.

Whether you have met me or not, I am certain you can tell that I live by very high standards I set for myself… It’s called integrity. By definition, it means: the quality of being honest and fair. I run my personal life exactly as I run my business, and any of you that follow my business know that I go out of my way to be fair to each and every person, when I say something – I mean it. It’s integrity. I have earned it, and I have a reputation for it.

I have absolutely nothing – nothing - in my life that I have not earned. I have come from a life that I have only shared glimpses of here on The Dis, I have clawed my way out of a childhood that would make most of you cry. I have become successful in every single portion of my life that matters to me… Success is not measured by my bank account - it is measured by the quality of people I allow in my life.

I love my husband with all my heart and soul. I love my children with every fiber of my being. I love my friends – every single one of them – whether I have met you or not. I love my neighbors. I love my co-workers. I love my business and the people I have met from it. I love that I am able to give when I can. I am proud of myself for all that I am and all that I’ve become. Most of all, I love my life, and I believe that reflects in every single thing I do.

I sign on here every single day, because of each of you. Every single one of you has impacted my life in some great way – whether you know it or not – and I am so very lucky to have each of you in my life.

I wanted to say it, I wanted you to hear it, I wanted you to understand it and I wanted you to know that I mean it. Thank you for being my friends.

D, that is absolutely beautiful (as I sit here with a tear rolling down my cheek). Thank YOU for being a friend.

A very beautiful and heartfelt post D~! I hold many of the same values as you and truly value all my friendships...both in real life and here on the DIS! Thank you for being a friend!

I'm feeling pretty good. I feel like this baby is running out of room.

I will have to check out our target to see if they still have the puppy.

I'm excited to see your mini planner pages. They're always so cute!

D~ that was beautiful and while my flippant self wants to say "Back at ya," my more serious self wants to add something else. I started following you because of your sewing. I looked up to it and hoped to be even half as good. As I've gotten to know you and your dear family (even MM - maybe especially MM, as DH and I only have fur-babies) you have given me more respect for my own abilities when it comes to sewing. Even though we're fairly close in age (if my math is anywhere near accurate) I really look up to you as a mentor, both for sewing and other life actions. You are active in your community, a partner with your spouse, a loving mother, a beginning couponer, an entrapenour and more.

Now, serious stuff out of the way...my Kindle has decided that certain pictures are not compatible, so I had to log into a real computer to see the awesome new bag. I'm about to go back and look at the pixie dust pictures.

Glad you're feeling better, and seeing a good deal always makes my day.

Wow what lovely words about friendship. Thanks for sharing that here.

And now about that airfare....ouch? I am guessing you mean RT for all four of you? I know it is normally now about $200 RT here from MD to FLA. I can't even bring myself to pay that!

No TR updates from me today. Spent my day recovering from illness (just cold and maybe fever) at home. Schools and work all closed but all we got most of the day here was rain. We went out and did a major Target shopping trip. I even used some coupons...but still spent over $200. I am stocked up on lots now though. Plus I go it a new-to-me tablet today and have spent the day setting it up. Got a good deal on a refurb 7inch Google Nexus and am selling off my Nook color and a few other electronics on EBay to pay for it. I love it so far.

Once this advil kicks in and my throat feels a bit better I might attempt some more updates.

Aww, now you are making me cry. You have as wonderful a gift with words as you do with fabric. I am happy for you that you have made such a success of your life. On your own terms. How wonderful that your BFF's dad could provide some guidance and inspiration for you.

BTW, our snow storm ended up being an epic failure here. The weather ended up being a degree or two too warm for the snow to stick. We had a gray, slushy day. The kids were thrilled to get an unexpected day off from school. But it certainly wasn't the 6 to 12 inches of snow we expected. :confused3

I was able to finish the appliques for both the bag and wallet... I plan to work on assembly today. I really hope to finish both - but this bag has a difficult assembly - so it will probably take me much longer than I anticipate.

Yay, new bags! Can't wait to see! Do any of them involve redheads? :rotfl2: I know, I just keep subtly dropping hints, eh? :lmao:

I managed a decent shopping trip at Target myself. I didn't save as much as you did, but I did take advantage of the $10 off $40. I stocked up on TP and paper towels which we can never have enough of! I also indulged myself in my Febreze car fresheners, which I love and only buy when they're free normally, but I figured this was a good enough sale for me! I also love the Stouffer's family size meal deal. I like to keep them around for a quick easy meal and since I save $1.25 on them and got free veggies to go with I was stoked. Also, I got a good deal on Dr. Pepper 10 and a free liter of Coke to go with it!

Yikes, that airfare scares me! I hope you guys find a great deal!

Holy moly D! What a great testament to friendship and integrity! You actions speak loudly, but those words were lovely. I am so blessed by the people I "know" from the DIS. I think I'm a better person for knowing you! Thank you!

D~ I just want to thank you for making me feel welcome here. I feel that I know you and am very happy to call you "friend".

I also redid our main calendar page the other day...

It's exactly the same as the previous one, but I swapped our Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon days... As it turns out, Blizzard Beach was having morning EMH on the day I'd originally scheduled TL... Well, I would like to take advantage of a waterpark EMH if I possibly can, since we only get one day at each waterpark. Hopefully this will allow us to "get in, and get out" and maybe go back later in the day - once the crowds dissipate a bit.

So, here's the new main calendar page for our Mini-Planner:

eeep here i was concerned you were switching your epcot day! whew! lol Tho I'm sure we will meet up at some point at the resort. Our days will be jam packed, but maybe the evening of the 20th. We'll be at Typhoon Lagoon in the afternoon of our arrival day, but I'd like to be back at the resort by 6. I'm sure by the time we get there and leave, we'll barely be scratching the surface of TL but oh well.
