~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

I'm guilty of not checking in for a while. :duck: It has been crazy busy around here - story of my life lately it seems. I'm pretty sure I went back and read everything since the last time I was here.

I love the duck butt bag and I am sure that the girl you made it for will be thrilled with it. It is such a fun bag and so unique!

I also loved seeing your first creations again. They truly are amazing. :worship:

Glad to hear that Allie's ankle is getting better and she started back with her track & field practices. Hoping she takes it easy though so it can heal fully.

Nice that Josh was able to fix his truck finally. Sounds like something my DH would do. He has become a lot more mechanically inclined since we first met. I remember him being embarrassed because I used to change the oil in my car myself (part of having a mechanic for a dad!) and he didn't have a clue. Of course, with having the race car, he has had to learn how to take care of almost everything and we quite often work together on it in the evenings. His hands are just too big to get the injectors out to clean them, so I still do that. But he does just about everything else (minus rebuilding the engine!).

So, yesterday morning, I couponed. I also sorted through my binder and threw away all of the expired or nearly expired coupons that I knew I wouldn't use. I started my grocery list for this week, which is very sparse... I will have to ask for imput from the family, because there isn't anything on it hardly at all. But it was nice to get my binder cleaned out.
We can't coupon like you can in the States, however, I was happy that I was able to save $7.00 on my grocery bill this week with manufacturers' coupons that had come in our flyers. Every little bit counts! :woohoo:

Then I went up to my sewing room... Since I am still waiting on that fabric order, and I probably will be for many days - I started on some other accessory projects for the auction. I made a few lanyards, and I also made a BOY themed GAC set... I hope to work on a girls version as well. I really dislike coming up with ideas for the GACs, because the surface is so small, that I can't justify putting a detailed applique on them, so I have to come up with something simple and easy - otherwise it just prices them right out of the market... Wallets are much the same way. As much as I would LOVE to do detailed appliques, that would put the wallets themselves at a starting bid of $50 minimum, and I just don't think they are worth that. So, I try very hard to stick to the simple appliques.
I can't wait for this auction to be able to see all the bags, sets and accessories! :cool1: :thumbsup2

I thought I would leave you all with another view from our deck last night... Such a difference from a few days ago. I kept saying that I was shocked at how quick it melted.

To refresh your memory... This was on Thursday:

And this was last night... a mere 3 days later:

Our yard is a mud hole... :headache: Everyone else's lawn around us is all nice, and our lawn died over the winter... and our trees barely have buds on them yet - usually we have full tress by now... but, I am just happy that the snow is gone. :thumbsup2
 OMG! I felt so bad for you guys when I heard that you had snow. We have been really lucky and had 8 days of 20+ deg C (I believe that is about 68 deg F) weather. Of course, that was after about a week of wet, cold, rainy weather, so we will take it. Our yard went from a sloppy brown mess to green grass in two days! Hope you get better weather to help dry up your yard.

Hi - I have been reading but not posting. Sounds like you were productive these last few days. I really enjoy seeing your first projects and some of your most recent things.

Great score on your Target gift cards and subsequent "spending". :cheer2:

Looking forward to all your upcoming auction items. I agree about keeping the price of the lanyards lower and I love your "simple" appliques. I'm sure it is hard to come up with different ideas.

Well, the whining worked. I just booked for 7 days in September. He pulled the "I really like being there for your birthday." and how could I say no?

That's now...we'll see where we are in a couple of months.

Hurray for a productive day. Boo for being out of batting. I just found a hidden mug rug sized stash yesterday while working on a doll.

Hope your appliqueing went well.

Hope everyone is well and getting better and having a wonderful spring. Now that it's mostly decided to show up.

That's great news Ruth! When are your dates? We will be there from 9/5-14, just missing my birthday by a couple of days, but I plan to celebrate anyway.

HAPPY NICE WEATHER finally!!! YAY!
Your creations for the freaky dolls are cool!!! I am seriously nervous about September coming a crowded place to be... Right now T.P. is still showing like a 3 as the highest.. THANK GOD. Next year i pray it stays that way.

Freaky Dolls??? Ha! They are actually quite cute - I've seen some pretty ugly ones out there.

I think September will be fine. I wish TP would update their crowd predictions for the end of August... :scratchin I would imagine most of those people moved to Sept.

Where did you get all the cute calendar stuff? I know you had posted it somewhere in this 1475 posts but.. Umm i am not going to go threw them all!!! LOL!!!

Actually - the calendar photos are mostly from Dznefreek here on The Dis (with permission), and the clip art is from around the internet. The calendars, I built myself in Photoshop, so I don't really have a template I use - I just keep editing mine from last year. LOL So, I guess I sort of have a template - but there's only about 75 layers on it. LOL I don't really consider that a template as much as I consider it a full edit. :rotfl2:

I'm here! I came on yesterday to post about the free dining after I got an e-mail only to discover several people beat me to it. Guess I'm not fast enough.

LOL Figures, right?

I think I'm catching the "change everything around" Disney disease. :lmao: I'm sitting here today wondering how I can move stuff around on my October trip. There's one ADR I'm just not pleased with and I'm trying to decide what to do.

I did that this time too - it's not something I normally do. My problem, this time, is that Touring Plans (drastically) changed all of their crowd predictions several weeks after 180 days, so crowds that were best parks were changed to worst parks... I was going to keep them, but after much debate - I decided not to. I was able to redo most of my ADRs, but there are still a few I am trying to get better times for. I hope you are having better luck than I am.

I'm sorry to hear that free dining didn't come out for you. From what I have read/heard, they may do away with it completely by next year.

:scared: They've almost completely done away with it for this year... This is the first time it's been offered all year, aside from the people who booked bouncebacks from last year. And the time it's offered for is a really short time, so it wouldn't surprise me at all.

You did have a productive day.

I'm sure you will meet your budget for the trip.

I hope so... I keep mulling it over, and trying to figure out exactly where each $$ is going to come from.

You and I have to figure out which day we are meeting. I know your plans changed a bit and so have ours. I may or may not do an August PTR. If I do, it won't be started until at least July. I have to get done with my current PTR, my TR that is still running to cover our April trip and the trip in 30 days AND the wedding.

I know we do - you are one of the people I am specifically worried about.

You have a crazy life right now, but it's going to be so amazing when you have a new DIL to show for it. :goodvibes

So, I didn't get the pictures posted yesterday. My youngest dd came home for a visit and we sat around and talked all evening. Tonight we are going to the baseball game to hear my oldest dd sing the "Star Spangled Banner" at the start of the game. Hopefully the rains hold off long enough for that to happen, but its not looking too good right now.

How wonderful!!! I am so glad you got to spend time with dd... And I am anxious to hear how the Star Spangled Banner went! Such an amazing opportunity!

Hopefully, by tomorrow I will have my act together and get the pictures taken and posted.

Super excited to see them!

I'm thinking you have a good plan for paying off your trip. Also, having the girls buy their own souvenirs is a good idea. I believe they spend less when its their own money.

I hope so. Kind of sad that gone are the days when they wanted to buy everything in the dump shops... I am such a kid at heart too - and I loved looking around at all the fun items.

I forgot to comment on your Donald bag...he is so cute. I had thought on your original bag that this was such a cute idea. Nice that you were able to squeeze her in!

Thanks!

My DD is now 3. Growing too fast. I tried a new pattern, of course, with shirring and couldn't get my machine to cooperate. I finally just stopped the shirring, matched the front and hoped for the best. Well it barely got over her head, but it did just fit. So next time she stepped into it with "feet together like a mermaid". That worked much better, but I will have to redo this top for our trip. This is why procrastination does not pay. But at least she had her mermaid outfit for her bday. Photos are on the disbou page.

Thanks for letting me know... I will try to pop over there today or tomorrow to get a peek. :thumbsup2 YOu'll read below that I have a crazy day on my plate today.

Hope everyone is well. I just had an allergy issue, trouble breathing. Went to the Dr (which I rarely go to, 3 years in fact), so I lost my lifelong primary care doctor and had to find a new one. Medicine did not hit me well, and really made things worse. So now that the meds are out of my system, things are getting better. Hopefully everyone else is healthy.

Oh no!!! I am so thankful you are OK... That must have been so scary! :grouphug:

Glad your budget and trip are falling into place. Can't wait to see your newest bag. Sorry to ramble

No worries about rambling - I do it all the time... I agree - so happy that everything is falling into place for this trip.

I'm guilty of not checking in for a while. :duck: It has been crazy busy around here - story of my life lately it seems. I'm pretty sure I went back and read everything since the last time I was here.

No worries Loree! Happy to see you here. It's been crazy busy here too...

I love the duck butt bag and I am sure that the girl you made it for will be thrilled with it. It is such a fun bag and so unique!

Thank you... She is thrilled with it - her mom told me that she took it to school with her yesterday. I cannot wait to get pictures!

I also loved seeing your first creations again. They truly are amazing.

Awww... Thanks!

Glad to hear that Allie's ankle is getting better and she started back with her track & field practices. Hoping she takes it easy though so it can heal fully.

Yes, it's doing much better. She did her first meet yesterday. Since she doesn't compete in any of the running activities - just shot put and discus - I am not so worried about reinjury - at least for that portion of it.

Nice that Josh was able to fix his truck finally. Sounds like something my DH would do. He has become a lot more mechanically inclined since we first met. I remember him being embarrassed because I used to change the oil in my car myself (part of having a mechanic for a dad!) and he didn't have a clue. His hands are just too big to get the injectors out to clean them, so I still do that. But he does just about everything else (minus rebuilding the engine!).

I love that you fix up the cars too... I am mostly clueless. But I hear EVERYTHING and it drives Josh crazy. LOL

I've heard that - and it's such a bummer that you all can't coupon. I am very happy for you that you did get some savings though.

I can't wait for this auction to be able to see all the bags, sets and accessories!

I just hope I am able to get them all done on time. I wanted to have them all finished by the time Suzi and Mo got here - but I don't think that is going to happen, as I have my May auction bag I still need to start and finish by next Thursday - on top of my regular custom bag set, which is one of the biggest ones I have ever done, and I've been nervous bout it for months.

It's been so much better - all that snow was gone in a matter of a few days. We were pretty upset too... Things are turning much nicer now, and everything is starting to green up and bud. :goodvibes

Yay!!! I hope you do - I want to take a solo trip some day, as well. But I have a feeling it will be after the girls go to college. And by then, I hope to talk BFF into going and splitting some of the costs with me - however - we'll probably end up at each other's throats by weeks end. LOL

Hi - I have been reading but not posting. Sounds like you were productive these last few days. I really enjoy seeing your first projects and some of your most recent things.

HI Liz!

Great score on your Target gift cards and subsequent "spending".

I just hope it all works out the way I am figuring it.

Looking forward to all your upcoming auction items. I agree about keeping the price of the lanyards lower and I love your "simple" appliques. I'm sure it is hard to come up with different ideas.

You are right - it is getting very difficult. I have one wallet upstairs all cut out and quilted, ready for an applique and I can't figure out what in the world to put on it. :crazy2: I can only do so many plain black Mickey/Minnie heads. LOL

Well, the whining worked. I just booked for 7 days in September. He pulled the "I really like being there for your birthday." and how could I say no?

That's now...we'll see where we are in a couple of months.

Do you think you can just stop by here, tell us you are going to Disney and not give us any details??? C'mon... Where are you staying, what are your dates... We want PLANS!!! LOL

Hurray for a productive day. Boo for being out of batting. I just found a hidden mug rug sized stash yesterday while working on a doll.

Yay!!!

Hope your appliqueing went well.

It did - it just took me FOREVER! I didn't finish until almost 4:30 yesterday! Gulp!

Hope everyone is well and getting better and having a wonderful spring. Now that it's mostly decided to show up.

Me too!!!

No you don't. That just means less competition!!!

Glad you had a good day!!

LOL

That's great news Ruth! When are your dates? We will be there from 9/5-14, just missing my birthday by a couple of days, but I plan to celebrate anyway.

I was wondering the same thing... I can't believe she just dropped in with out any specific information. :crazy2:

**********************************************************

Yesterday started off weird, and threw me off kilter all day long.

First, I hooked my phone up to the computer, I wanted to put a few pictures on to it... After several tries - my phone locked up the computer and I had to restart everything. Somewhere in the process - my SD card crashed. I thought I lost all of the photos on my phone, but I was able to recover them through the computer. Phew! But it took me over an hour to get it all straightened out.

By the time I got up to my sewing room, it was 9:30, and I usually like to be up there no later than 8.

And I appliqued all day long... 2 different appliques, one on a bag and one on a wallet. Thankfully, I was able to finish them.

Alli had a meet last night, so Josh stayed in town with her. V and I had frozen pizza for dinner.

After dinner, I went back up to my sewing room for a little while to work on a different project.

I just felt like my whole day was out of whack.

Today is even crazier!!! :crazy2: It's a Target day for me.

Not only that, but it's Victoria's 14th Birthday today... So, stay tuned for her annual birthday post! Hopefully it works better than Allison's did last time. LOL

Better get on that - I hope you all have a wonderful day!

D~

Happy Birthday to Victoria!

This is birthday week for my family - yesterday was my younger son's fiancé's bd, tomorrow is my older son's and my oldest brother's bd , Friday is our newest great nephew's 1st bd, Sunday is my next oldest brother's bd and Monday is my DH's bd. Then we have a couple more niece's the following week.

I posted a link in my ptr to a video of Kate. The girl still amazes me with her talent. I can't carry a tune in a bucket.....

Here it is, my annual birthday post... Victoria through the years!

I can't believe how quickly the years have flown by, and my baby is already 14! It goes by way too fast!

Happy Birthday Victoria!

I'm sorry to hear that free dining didn't come out for you. From what I have read/heard, they may do away with it completely by next year.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE TELL ME THIS ISN'T true!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday!

I have to comment on the under the sink photo... When my daughter came along, she used the under sink area as her own little play house! It ALWAYS had toys under there. When we moved to Germany there was no area under the sink to play and she was crushed.

Now that she has a daughter of her own...not even a week old yet...she has the space under her sink already stocked with toys!

Happy Birthday Victoria! I have to admit....maybe the hormones.... I got teary eyed watching her grow up before my very eyes. Thank you for posting. She was a beautiful baby. And is a beautiful you lady now.

Enjoy the day!

Thanks!

I don't think I mentioned it here... I tend to hijack everyone's TRs so much I can't keep up! LOL!

So, since I brought it up...4 weeks early via emergency C section weighing in at 8 lbs 2 oz and 20 1/4 inches long. (She lost down to 7lbs before leaving hospital) Both mommy and baby are doing wonderful!

Happy Birthday Victoria!

We came home to a mess last night. My three savage beasts (schnauzers) managed to get a squirrel. That was fun to clean up. After washing their blankets I found what I thought was a piece of mulch in my washing machine. Nope, it was a squirrel foot, toes and all!

:crazy2: Ackkkk ! The ONE thing I hate about having dogs ::yes:: I get the circle of life but disgusting ! There are a lot of geckos, snakes, & squirrels that enter the death zone around here every now and then too Always feel like I should put a warning sign on the fence

OK all have a blessed day I have chatted and hijacked enough for the day :rotfl:

At first they questioned the gestational age...but the pediatrician showed us things that shwed her that we did indeed have a preemie.

Since Mommy had such a problem with the edema part of the pre-e...so did baby. Once that went away she was a much more 'preemie' weight.
