~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

aww, that is so thoughtful of you. and of all those who pitched in. I'm sure she will absolutely love it! I love when nice people do nice things for other nice peeps. And, being a mom of multiples..... I love the twins. :thumbsup2

Ah - see that makes sense. I was wondering about the duplication too, when I saw it on FB. And then I thought maybe you'd gotten snow madness and posted your bag again.

That's going to be one excited girl. Until she sees the camera. :lmao:

HOpefully it isn't too early for you...

Are you 2 hours ahead of me or 3? That's what will depend on if it's too early!!! :rotfl2: Anything before 9:00 am on a Saturday is too early!!

Glad you were able to get home safely... I used to have a car - when the girls were little - I went through sooo many water pumps. It also liked to overheat at stop lights in the summer... It got to the point - I was like a UPS truck, I knew the exact routes to everywhere with the fewest possible stops and all right turns. :rotfl2:

I was literally driving by the entrance to our condo complex when the light came on and it started to overheat. I drove up to the next light (less than 1 full block), made a U-turn and came back home and drove to our parking spot and parked! I'm so glad I was soooo close. I'm sure now you can laugh about being like a UPS truck but at the time I'm sure it was annoying!! I am better today though because we got the van back today after DH got home from work. By the time they called him to tell him it was done it was too close to the time for the kids to be dropped off from school for me to walk down and get it. It's about a mile to where it was dropped off to get fixed. I'm just glad we have it back!!

What a great gift!! Turned out very cute!!!!

RuthIE i'm so glad your doing well!!! Maxine too!!!

D~ i really hope you get a break in the weather. Crappy weather = crappy mood.

I really want to know what you ordered... :flower3:
killing me.

Tell me about it - it snowed a little bit yesterday morning - and now it's raining... :scared: I can't wait to get to Florida to enjoy the weather!

Well, if you want to move in and add a Donald room, we may need to get a bigger house! I have a bit of a collecting problem you see. On top of the Pluto room, I also have a Teddy Bear room with over 800 bears in it.

It's all good Ariana... We could probably make it work - my Donald collection isn't that huge yet... Yet.

Me too Thanks MO, hope she continues to do well too the whole backyard is a mud hole (smells like Dumbo has been an overnight guest) what the hell were we thinking with land that has a SWAMP right in the middle of it , stupid yankees pretty bad when I'm tempted to spray Febreeze OUTSIDE

Kitty litter???

Over 2.5 acres the next pictures I post may have all the dogs, me, and Maxi in military type gas masks no doubt I could find them on eBay

this is actually rather scary looking. can you imagine when she comes to your kitchen window like this???
a couple of truck load of kitty liter along with a HUGE truck load of baking soda and your set.

I am sorry - but you two are still cracking me up. :rotfl2:

D, I hope the snow has stopped by now. I still can't get over how much you got.

I just wanted to pop in and wish you a lovely weekend; we are supposed to have rain and Mo and I are actually praying for it so everyone in our houses gets better. I'll be doing more spring cleaning so I get everything done before the trip and wedding next month.

I sure hope you all are feeling better soon - I know you have soo much on your plate right now. :grouphug:

I can't believe you got that much snow! It better be gone when we get out there....I don't have room to pack my snowsuit, and boots would be a PIA at airport security.

I agree - it better be waaay gone before you get here - but it's not looking very promising... It was down right COLD out yesterday.

Very excited to hear about your "Accessories" for your trip. I remember your bows you had on your shoes on your last trip...very cute.

I LOVED those bows from Beth!!! And they are going with on this trip too! They were perfect!

I got a red tank at Target. The ones they have that have a slight shirring on the shoulder straps. I have a ton of those tanks...blue and blakc and green and red and purple....love them.

Marianne and I are addicted to the Target Mossimo tanks - we had this discussion last summer, and we had it again the other day... They are just the best. They are cut just right - the cotton is so nice - you can wear a real bra with them - they wash up really nicely - and they are under $10. But -their colors this year... Well, they have yet to put out a true red or a lime green - colors that both of us need in a bad way. Sigh...

FYI....They just opened up the Dessert Party for July. I have a feeling they will open August while we are out at MOA, so I hope our phone apps work well!

Oh no!!! We could always call - right?

D, I love it. And what a sweet and thoughtful thing for you (and the other DISer's to do). It's great.

Oh no... I went back and reread my post - it does sound like I gifted the bag to her... I did not, and I am so sorry it sounded that way... Her mom was genuinely on my list... I was able to move people around to fit her in, and I remade my bag - but I did get paid for it. Sorry for the confusion. I guess - I am not that nice of a person. :crazy2:

how adorable!!! I love that everyone chipped in!!! made it even more special and personal!!!!

Great Job everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes - I hope she loves that too... She is such a good kid, and it was so fun that Beth, Liz and Marianne were all able to make something that was specifically tailored to her likes. :thumbsup2

I am a bit behind, but I love love love the sorcerer mickey bag and the donald backpack.

I worked as a team member awhile ago for a couple of years. I kind of thought most GSTLs were on a power trip.

THanks Ashley! I hope little Jonah is doing well. :flower3: And mommy too! And I agree - some GSTLs are...

I love that bag idea with the feet dangling. Of course my mind has to go to the poor Donald that now has no legs.

I know - but I did warn him, when he arrived at my house - he was going to be sacraficed to a bag - and he didn't leave, so I assumed that was permission?

I love that you duplicated this bag for her! When I saw the pictures on FB I thought...is she SELLING her Donald bag???Such a special token of love for that sweet girl!

LOL - nope - I could never sell that Donald bag... However, I have NO intention of using it on our Aug trip - I think it would just be too hot on my back. So, I will save it for a different trip. I hope she likes it - I cannot wait to see pictures of her opening it!

Awww...what a special gift for her! It is so cute!

Yikes... I did reread my post from yesterday, it does sound like it was a gift... But it was not - the only part I could really do was make room for her in my schedule and remake my bag for her... Her mom was genuinely on my list, and I was paid for the bag. Sorry about the confusion.

aww, that is so thoughtful of you. and of all those who pitched in. I'm sure she will absolutely love it! I love when nice people do nice things for other nice peeps. And, being a mom of multiples..... I love the twins.

Oops... I am not really that nice... I did go back and reread - I was not able to gift Katie with the bag, her mom was genuinely on my list and I was paid for the bag. The only thing I did was remake my own bag and make room for her in my schedule. Sorry about the confusion.

Ah - see that makes sense. I was wondering about the duplication too, when I saw it on FB. And then I thought maybe you'd gotten snow madness and posted your bag again.

ROFL - Snow Madness - don't put it past me... I am real close! LOL

Are you 2 hours ahead of me or 3? That's what will depend on if it's too early!!! Anything before 9:00 am on a Saturday is too early!!

I am not sure where you live off the top of my head Sandra... I am in the Central Time Zone. :thumbsup2

You did get very lucky! I am glad you have it back and it's fixed!

What a great gift!! Turned out very cute!!!!

**********************************************************

Well, I finished Katie's bag yesterday morning... Then I started working on the wallet applique for one of my big auction bags. I was literally falling asleep at Mr. Rocket - so I decided to take a nap instead. I guess the last two days of waking at 3:30am was catching up with me? I had a nice quick little nap though.

I made dinner for the family... Chili bake... Since it was so cold outside - I could get away with Chili for once - usually when I am in the mood for it, it's really hot outside and Josh teases me about it. :confused3

After dinner - Mo texted me and remided me that all the Disney specials were on last night, so I forced the family to watch them with me... The girls left and Josh fell asleep. :sad2: Oh well - it was fun for me. :beach: Especially looking out the window to see snow... :scared:

Today, I plan to finish up this auction set I've been working on all week. And then I hope to cut out my next one... And maybe start quilting it? I am not sure about this.

So, nothing exciting here... I hope everyone has a nice weekend! :grouphug:

Love the bag for Katie, she seems like such a sweet girl & everyone coming together adding dangles she is going to love it I am sure

Chiara: I am sorry that I overlooked the loss of your MIL my condolences

I know there has been a lot of illnesses going on around in this marvelous group/families apologies that I am not naming individually and prayers for all to recover soon :flower3:

RuthIE - I am glad you are feeling better. :)

D~ the Donald bag is perfect, again. Katie is a great girl and I know she will love this bag. When her mom asked her what kind of bag she wanted her only reply was "a Donald Butt Bag". I know she enjoy it!

I watched the Disneyland show last night (well 1/2 of it) and I have to say it just makes me want to go to Disneyland. Hope to get there soon maybe on our way to Hawaii (which we will hopefully get to one day, maybe after college is paid for).

I just want to reiterate what Ruthie said here.... I too send my condolences. I'm sorry I miss alot of in between posts sometimes.

D~ I kinda assumed there was a charge. But, still you bent the rule to make a young lady happy. I think that is very nice of you.

Hope everyone is able to enjoy their weekend. AND I hope spring arrives and stays around for a while. (and the snow melts quickly.)

Thank you both.

I don't think I posted here but on my thread and FB. I am just happy she isn't suffering anymore.

Nothing much to add today except that y'all that have been in the freaky snow-zone can fell a little pleasure taht here in Alabama we didn't reach 60 today and with the rain, it was like we were in December too.

Oh - and may all of us who are recovering do well and improve, those of us who have lost someone close to us -recently or not- may we remember and celebrate their lives and good times, reassured that they are now free from pain and any suffering.

Hey D~ Did you see that the Fab five Mini Hats are 2/$15 on disneystore.com right now....I know you were part of the conversation on FB and wanted to make sure you saw these :cheer2: They have DONALD!!!

I :lovestruc:lovestruc the new bags!

 I haven't been here in a while.

But I just LOVE that Donald bag and his cute little tail that sticks out.

YOU are definitely crazy ok coffee + Pspsssppppt = may need new computer terminal

For the record... I"ve had to replace mine several times since joining The Dis. :scared:

I agree- I hope that everyone is doing well.

When is Fred going to be home for your weekend together - isn't that coming soon? :flower3:

I did not watch the Disneyland show (it is recorded for later though)... But I did love seeing the Fantasyland portion of the WDW show.

It's totally understandable... It's very hard to keep up sometimes.

D~ I kinda assumed there was a charge. But, still you bent the rule to make a young lady happy. I think that is very nice of you.

I did... I just didn't want anyone to think that it was a full on gift... I wish it could have been - I really do.

Hope everyone is able to enjoy their weekend. AND I hope spring arrives and stays around for a while. (and the snow melts quickly.)

It is melting here... It's kind of crazy to see the bright green grass under the snow, our few really nice days before the snow really brought the grass back to life, it's so bright that it looks almost neon next to the snow out there.

Thank you both.

I don't think I posted here but on my thread and FB. I am just happy she isn't suffering anymore.

Thanks for the heads up Jennifer - I will have to go take a look... Unfortunately, they migth have to be something I purchase down at Disney - since the budget is totally dedicated to our trip at the moment, not a spare dime for anything else... :crazy2:

 I haven't been here in a while.

But I just LOVE that Donald bag and his cute little tail that sticks out.

Hi Michelle - it's great to see you!! I hope you are well!

**********************************************************

Yesterday was kind of nuts here...

I worked in my sewing room for an hour +... Then I had to take Alli to town for a sleepover at a friend's.

While I was in town - I stopped by Target to see if there were any great couponing deals, and to use some of my Target coupons that I had "more than 1 of"...

Some of my best deals I got through out the week were... Target had a misprint in their ad last week that they were honoring... Something to the effect of "buy any 1 item, and receive a free $5 Gift Card"... Well the one item included a 4 pack of toothbrushes, 1 litre of Listerine, and various big packs of toothpaste. Well, we didn't need any toothpaste... so I purchased 4 packs of toothbrushes and one listerine. Which gave me $25 in GCs. :cheer2: Plus I had a coupon for the listerine. LOL

Then, yesterday when I went, I purchased a few items... I had a BOGO on more razors (yes, I know... I need to stop with the razors - I do NOT need any more) But Target had the big packs in the back of the store - I think they were packs of 9?? The were $7.99 each, and I got them as BOGO. So, not the best deal in the world, but not bad for 9 Venus razors.

And the best part - everything I purchased was with the GCs from the other day, so I didn't pay for anything and I still have $10 worth left. :thumbsup2

Josh finally diagnosed the problem with his truck... it is definitely the fuel pump. :sad1: In order to change the fuel pump, you have to take the entire gas tank out... Poor Josh was cranking on the bolts all day - and he just can't get them to come lose. In the north, because of the snow/salt, we have issues with rust (which typically doesn't happen in the south) - and all the bolts in his truck are rusted solid. So, he couldn't get the gas tank off. :scratchin So, then he figured he would just take the bed of the truck off of the truck... :crazy2: YIKES... That's a HUGE project... So we cleaned out his truck bed, took the topper off... and he went to work for hours undoing the bolts... Yup, same problem... He was 0/6 on the bolts. :scared: Finally - he had just about had it - and as a last resort, he cut through the bed of his truck to create an access panel to his fuel pump. He was so annoyed with himself - he said he would have done it this way to begin with, if he would have thought of it. LOL He has a full truck bed liner in there - so the access panel isn't a big deal. Today he will work on changing out the fuel pump... For the record - it was a $250 part. However, if we had taken the truck to a mechanic, all the hours Josh has put in on it, would have been charged... So, we are very lucky that Josh did the work himself.

Anyways... Sorry for the boring morning post.

Yesterday afternoon, I managed to finish my 3rd full auction bag set. Super excited to have 3 of them done! WHOOT! Only 2 more to go + my regular May auction + my custom orders. All of them (hopefully) will be done by the end of May...

I have been a little stumped on my last 2 bags... But I woke this morning with a bright idea for one of them. :thumbsup2 Can't wait to give it a whirl... It may involve redrafting a pattern... :scratchin But I think it will work well for what I have in mind. On top of that - I am waiting on a fabric order... I ordered it a week ago, and it isn't scheduled to be delivered until friday... :confused3 So, I need to keep myself going on this project in my spare time - kind of hard to do with out fabric - right? So, I will work on getting some appliques prepped this week, and possibly crank out a couple of GAC holders and some DSLR straps. :scratchin

Last night, I made Josh's home-made chicken pot pies for dinner, I had some pie crusts in the fridge that expired soon, so I had to use them up. I was impressed that they turned out pretty good.

Then, V and I watched more episodes of Season 1 Downton Abbey... We love that show so much!

Today, I will be doing some couponing... And then head up to my sewing room. I will also be available to Josh for anything he needs help with for the truck.

To those of you who haven't been feeling well, and recovering... I hope you are all doing well. I continue to keep all of you in my prayers, and if you get a chance to let us know how you are doing - I am sure we would all appreciate it. :grouphug:

Have a great day everyone!

D~

RuthIE - I am glad you are feeling better. :)

Thank you Liz I was I am I'm not :rotfl: (okay feeling like 3 people right now) MEANING day of PT feel great but tired day after PT felt like I got hit by a van two days in a row of PT (Thurs/Fri) now feel like the van has grown into a DME bus keep on going keep on going there's a prize at the end of it again thanks :wave2:

Wow for all the hours of labor for Josh (and the savings when someone in the family has this ability)

Yep Fred was coming home 5/17-19 we added another day will be home 5/16 :-)

How nice to have a mechanic as a husband. It saves LOTS of money!! DH's dad is a "hobby" mechanic as well and we "use" him a lot for our vehicles. He is so knowledgeable.

WHAT A DEAL on those Target items!! I used to coupon and somedays I still try to but down here I have so much trouble making it worth my time and effort.

Can't wait to see these auction bags!!!

Thank you I know that just feel like a 500 year old woman some days you know I need to get over to YOUR ptr I have neglected so much for so long :sad2:
hope the planning is coming along

nice couponing!
stinks Josh had so much of a problem with the bolts. We can identify with rusty bolts, living in the north. WD40 is your friend. ;) It is nice he can fix vehicles. My brothers are good at that. DH used to be, until everything became computerized. Even my brothers are using professional mechanics more & more.

Good luck on the sewing. You must be so anxious for the fabric to show up.

Hope everyone enjoys there Sunday!

For the fun of it... The Disboutiquers are doing photos of their first sewing projects... So, I thought I would post mine over here too...

These were the very first items I ever made... Most of you know that I started out sewing for AG dolls... And it was a total accident how I started making bags.

My very first outfit was the Goofy outfit... It came to me in a dream... I know that sounds rather strange - but many of my most unique ideas come to me while I am sleeping or shortly after I wake. The second outfit I made was Donald - and he came to me in a dream as well. Now, keep in mind - these outfits look pretty good in photos, but none of my seams were finished and my top stitching is awful - so they are really nothing to be proud of. But they are fun to look at. ::yes::

CIMG8249.jpg

My Toy Story themed outfits were next:

CIMG8348.jpg

And then I did a Princess theme:

Princesssiggy.jpg

Shortly after, I learned how to applique... This is my very first applique:

IMG_138033.jpg

Shortly after - I did the Villians... Which happens to be some of my very first applique work... and it makes me laugh, because it's really awful. :rotfl2: I am almost embarassed to post it... :rolleyes1

And, eventually another set of Fab 5 - which I still really love...

2ndfab5.jpg

And I will stop boring all of you with my stuff, as I am sure most of you have seen it before... But it's fun to look back and see how far I have come. :thumbsup2
