As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Actually it's open if you've booked through Disney. If you use a TA, the TA still needs to do all the changes, hence why I owe my TA a few Margaritas next month ;)
Ugh, with 6 months until my trip, if I use TA, she will probably ignore my changes by week two.

My DH is convinced my TA hates me. Whether she does or not, I can honestly say she has been sweet and amazing...and some of the resort changing even rubbed off on her ;)

I believe this is the right spot to post this. For our upcoming trip in October this is how its gone so far. We first booked POFQ (wanted to try it out, loved POR). Then booked CR TPV instead (Nostalgia reasons). Then changed to WL CL(First time CL try). Then booked split stay WL CL/POFQ (WL for MNSSHP nights, POFQ for DTD days) Then changed to Poly TPV (Just because we wanted to try it). Along comes grandson number 2. Money reallocated for other trips. Changed back to WL CL/POFQ stay. Military rates finally come out and we are staying BC at 40% discount, yeah! I figured we were done. DW wants to add a couple days. Rooms at POFQ for the additional days available but when I call AA to change our return flight date they say $648.00 per person to change, the initial cost for round trip was $312.00 per person. I told the lady on the phone no thanks we will stick with our original return date lol. In the mean time while planning the additional days the DW decided we would use the two additional days of our 7 day tickets to just relax the mornings prior to MNSSHPs and not go to any parks. Now that we are back to our 7 days with 7 day tickets and two MNSSHP tickets and the original plans to go to a park each day before the MNSSHP to make good use of the 7 day tickets we lose any relaxing days before the party nights. Unless, I go purchase two 4 day military salute tickets. I'll get the 4 day park hopper tickets, we will use them the 4 non party days, two MNSSHP nights covered - relax and goof off around WDW those 2 mornings, we had 1 day left on some military tickets we used in November 2014 that are now good, with the extension that came out this month, until December 2015 that will cover the fifth non party day. We are planning a February trip to use the 7 day tickets so that expense wont be lost anyways. So, as of today our plans are BC 7 days (First time, Excited!) 5 Park hoppers and 2 MNSSHPs. And I think we are done, I hope, Maybe...

Seriously considering seeing if I can switch hotels for December stay. I have a deal so room availability at an alternative resort will play a part.

I know the Poly fans say it is fine, and I do want to try a new resort, but I am very unhappy that refurb or not, the monorail they supposedly charge extra for barely gets you to a regular Epcot rope drop and never to an emh morning at Epcot. With refurb it is supposedly hit or miss how you can get to MK or Ep for rope drop. I really don't want the stress or hassel for my 9 day stay (6 of which will be impacted by this issue).

The TA also offered BC, assuming any rooms are left. I like the idea of having solid transportation options with no guessin if the boat is running early or not. Not thrilled about 9 mornings of limited breakfast options (would it kill BCM to offer french toast sticks or mickey waffles).

I don't know what to do.

Is there an preferred or advantageous method for booking split stays? I am looking at POFQ for 4 days and then the Contemporary for 3.

Would I package POFQ + 7 day hopper and then subsequently CR as room only? Or both room only and tix separately? Would I have to deal with multiple wristbands? Ugh.

Yes, you would get a magic band for each hotel room reservation. As for tickets, you could go either way. Hopefully someone can answer that for you! We don't mind split stays. :)

Anyway,
We're getting down to the wire! I pretty much re did all of our ADR's today and got 95% of what we wanted. We're excited to try the Boathouse! :)

You guys, I think I need therapy... :rolleyes1

I made a resort change...:flower1:

I had a freak out last night because we had been booked with CBR with free dining. Well, I will be around 24/25 weeks pregnant and there is absolutely NO way I can eat all of that food.

So, what does a girl do? She changes her reservation, AGAIN. :rolleyes1

Long story short, we're now back at Pop Century, for the entire 9 days we'll be on WDW property. It just makes sense and we'll pay OOP for meals. It still saved us $500 and now we can put that elsewhere. It's a fun resort and I know DD will love it. :yay:

With 8 weeks and counting, this should be it. We make FP on Sunday so that should take the energy away from that ominous "change" button.:charac2:

Did you use pregnant and can't eat all of that food in the same sentence lol? I was a total Grimace when I was pregnant I just loved food, even if I couldn't hold it down. That said, I do like Pop more than CBR....no therapy necessary. Keep on ch ch changing Mama

I would do the CR as room only, you save more on tickets the more days you have. So you'd have the tickets linked to the first reservation and I think they get linked to the CR magicband as well. I'm not sure how that works but I'm sure the front desk can help with that if necessary

Knowing how hot it'll be, I know I won't be super hungry. I'll have to eat probably more frequently but it'll be smaller amounts. I also want to have the ability to order a child's plate too, if need be. I will however, be buying a refillable mug!

It's a win/win situation for us. Hoping for the top floor, 70's section, facing the lake.

Thanks, I was thinking that that would be the way to approach it--linking the entire length of ticket days with the first reservation; plus that would get the package perks.

Oh man!!! All I had on my "pregnant trip" was the food....ALL the food please...even at 20 weeks....in August....:)

Yes, book length of stay tickets on first resort. Are you getting pofq as a package just for tickets or are you getting the ddp? If you're just getting pkg for room & tickets, you may save a few $ buy booking room only discount and buying tickets from Undercover Tourist. The tickets are able to be linked to MB. They're real tickets, not vouchers. I've used them a couple of times. Depending on what specials they're running you can save up to $20 on a ticket.
This year WDW has cut down a lot of the perks on packages.
