As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Yay!

I'm thinking of adding a night at Cabana Bay Resort to our July trip. Has anyone here stayed there? Really want to check out this resort :yay:
I have not stayed there, grumpygrandma did last Spring. I think other than the beds being firm she had a great time. Have you checked out the Universal threads they've got some really helpful people there. We have done the other 3 Universal resorts and LOVED all 3 :)

Thanks so much for such a warm welcome :)

I think CBR is going to win. It's £1800 ($2700) for two weeks for us, then £800 ($1200) for our tickets. As UK guests we get 14 day tickets, and then the DDP is included once we buy those as a package with the hotel. It's only QSDP that's included with a Moderate resort, but the difference is under £400 ($600) to upgrade to DDP so I think that's a great deal.

So I'm inclined to spend the majority, if not all of the trip at CBR as the DDP only lasts as long as the resort stay. So If we do say, Thur - Tues (12 nights) at CBR. Then Tue-Thu (2 nights) at the GF we'd still have DDP left on the Tuesday to spend while at GF. Then we'd just have Wednesday and Thursday to pay OOP but after 12 days of DDP we probably won't be too hungry.

If you ever need any help planning DLRP I'm your gal. :) Currently doing our TR from March - link is in my signature. I used to much prefer WDW to DLRP, but I have to say our recent trip was so so magical at DLRP, they've really improved since our last visit in 2012, and the new Ratatouille ride is incredible - they need to put it in EPCOT!
I have been looking to do a split this summer, but DH isn't a fan. LOVE the GF so if its doable, it is totally worth it IMHO :) You can make those GF days chill out and enjoy the resort days!

Hey everyone!! Many of us have trips just right around the corner. It's very exciting!!

Anyway, nothing new with our September trip. We're just waiting for FP+ day and then the trip will be here! I need clothes!

But, we went ahead and booked our anniversary trip this morning. We're planning on being there October 3rd-18, 2016. We are going to spend the first 4 days at Universal (can't decide which resort yet, thinking HRH.) (Halloween Horror Nights!) then the next 7 at Disney (Food and Wine and maybe MNSSHP), staying at POFQ, and then finally wrapping our trip up in Sarasota, FL for the last 4 days of the vacation. Big trip and no kids allowed. :thumbsup2

As of today, we have a ticker!!! :)

Our next trip will be April (again) and will be an 8 night. 1st 2 nights at WDW (likely BWI CL) and then 4 nights on the Dream (already booked) and then 2 nights WDW (likely AKL CL)!!!!

Waiting until an announcement on the military discount before booking resorts.

Very excited for our first cruise!!

We also have a trip to the Domincan Republic booked, which was the plan, but we decided to do the Caribbean the Disney way instead. :)

Hope everyone is doing well!!

This thread makes me feel right at home. My worst offense by far was for the trip I took a few weeks ago. I booked at Pop Century the day 2015 rates came out. Then a few weeks later we stayed one night at Port Orleans French Quarter so I changed it to be able to experience it fully. Then it sat for a couple of months. I started thinking which we all know is quite dangerous and I decided for the cost of the moderate we could stay half of the trip at pop century and half at the beach club. Great idea, call and make the change. Then summer discounts come out and the beach club isn't available but the yacht club is so make the change to save money. But with the new discounts out we could add a nigh at the Polynesian my dream resort. Okay, sold! Then less than 24 hours later I decided that was a bad idea to move for one night so add on to the yacht club. But those discounts and my goal to stay at every disney resort got the best of me. I added one night at Port Orleans Riverside. I kept it for a few months then I needed to save money on my April trip so I cancel POR and moved back to Pop for that one night. The trip stays the same for 2 months and then my family decided they want to come home a day early so that added day at the yacht club gets taken off. But, I tell them if we are leaving early then we are staying only 2 nights at pop century and 2 nights at the contemporary and after over a year of changing that is what actually happened. What started as 6 night pop century stay turned into 2 nights at pop century, 2 nights at the contemporary, and 3 nights at the yacht club. What a whirlwind. Anyone else ever been that bad off?

I am the only one excited about the new modify resort option available online? Now I don't have to call once a week anymore lol. I have already used it 4 times for my August trip so it might make this too easy.

Hi there....a cruise sounds perfect! And a trip to DR YAY! My Abuela was born and raised in DR, she was actually a school principal there :) She visited there before she died and even had a royal welcome!
That's the deadly button! I've used it more times than I'm willing to admit...:charac2:
I agree that button is our nemesis ;)

Makes it WAY too easy, especially for obsessive changers (yep pointing at myself lol)

A big hello!! I've made a few changes to my trip next month but I've neglected posting them, my apologies! Long story short & 4 changes later..I am back to Beach Club

I'm feeling the change itch so badly right now! I really want to see the what the magical deal rates are for CR and GF, but DH says no. I might just inquire anyways. ;)

Well, I've convinced my friends to switch from the All Stars to Pop Century so therefore I did it on Monday. It was an $8.00 difference. Hardly anything.

Add me to this crew! I initially booked CBR for Wine & Dine weekend. Then thought about it and decided to try something new so I changed it to POFQ. This was back within a couple of weeks of W&D registration, so March-April. All was well.

Then I was looking at flights over the weekend and it was significantly cheaper to stay Sunday night. Ok, no biggie.

Except POFQ did not have a room of the same type for the whole stay - I would have had to change rooms for one night at some point. CBR had increased in price a good bit. CSR isn't a host resort, so no event transportation - big problem with the after party (and actually a good excuse as I really didn't like CSR when I stayed there before - it felt like any convention hotel and not like a Disney hotel to me...possibly because I was stuck in the hotel-type buildings as opposed to the other less corporate-feel buildings). I had stayed at POR years ago in the Mansions and felt like I was trapped in my grandmother's house so was not thrilled with that idea.

So... Sunday night I called (had to because of adding a date...that you still can't do on the website on your own - or I can't) and switched to Pop in a preferred pool view room. Monday morning on the website I switched it to just preferred view. Then back to preferred pool view.

But by noon my mod girl tendencies were showing and the thought of staying at a value was becoming less and less appealing (least comfortable beds I've ever had have been at Music and Pop - not even accounting for them being doubles). Looked at the room categories at POR and realized that in booking Preferred (it was that or King without jumping up to the Royal Rooms) I could avoid the Mansions as the only Preferred buildings are in Alligator Bayou - and the refurbed rooms (since the last time I seriously looked at POR) looked much less "cheap" and "junky" than they used to look. So I decided to give it a try - changed to POR Preferred.

All that within less than 24 hours! Though I'm still reserving the right to mod-splurge and change to CBR, which is really my Disney home!

Inquiring never hurts. What if the rates are so great and they he would feel like he missed out. Then he would be thanking you.

You can inquire....IMO you two should stay at WL. However, I LOVE GF :)

AWWWW, we actually canceled the DR, but we will get there someday.

I booked our airfare today (JetBlue released through May 3rd today) and got awesome fare - $1301.00 for 5 of us!!! (we had our little guy as a lap child last flight and NO THANKS to that again, LOL...so we got him a seat this time)

I also wanted to share about searching for flights using Google Flights - saved me a TON of money on flights. Check it out if you've never used it.

Now I have AOA booked for our 1st two nights -- PIF
Flights -- PIF
Cruise -- halfway paid for

Just waiting on word on the military discount so I can hopefully book AKL CL for the last two nights and we will be all set!!!

I've never tried Google Flights! Usually use Kayak. Going to look!

Let me know how it works out for you! I was shocked at the difference in savings!
I looked for Aug trip that I already booked directly with Alaska to compare and Google was higher. Prob fares have gone up since we booked.
But will use Google & Kayak to track fares for next Aug 2016! Ugh, seems so far away! Can't do my usual Jan trip this year because of changes at work :-(

Is this modify resort option open to those who booked through a TA?

Actually it's open if you've booked through Disney. If you use a TA, the TA still needs to do all the changes, hence why I owe my TA a few Margaritas next month ;)
