As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Pas... You working today?? Or taking it easy?? I'm guessing a mother of 5 rarely takes it easy :upsidedow That was a stupid question
I was off yesterday, but recovering from a 55 hour work week :lmao: 31 days until our trip!!! I am trying very hard NOT to wish away the summer

I hate heights and that would've probably made me antsy.
The fire department would've carried my screaming down..okay maybe paralyzed with fear. Lightning, yeah just leave be in the monorail since it's grounded thank you :faint:

Good morning!

Looks like y'all must start school back around the same time as us. We have meet & greet to meet Reid's 1st grade teacher on Aug. 7th. Then their 1st day of school is August 12th. It's definitely going by quick! We went & bought school uniforms this past Friday. And, of course, a new backpack with matching lunchbox. This year, it's all about Ninja Turtles for him.
Ninja Turtles, our boy is growing up  Our orientations are the week we are away. School starts on Thursday (weird I know) so I can bring them the day before ::yes::

My news, I'll be MIA for a few days. Hubs & I are going over to west coast of Vancouver Island to a friends Cabin on the coast. Leaving daughter home with the animals, lol. Very rustic, no inside plumbing, Internet, etc.
Hope it's nice and cool there! :goodvibes Enjoy!

We love WL too. But also POR mansion section. Ugh those tour groups :sad2: surprised they are there now. January is usually the big tour group time. I thought the last 2 January's we've been they were better behaved, not much obnoxious chanting, line cutting, etc. We were on a bus and one if the leaders were actually shushing them when they started getting loud. Sorry to hear it was short lived. I'd prob write wdw about it. That was extremely disrespectful :sad2: I hope they're gone by August!!!

Pas :goodvibes :wave2:
Those BTG last July at Universal were reason enough to NOT travel in July! Jan. and July are their vacation months:duck:

I am off to the dentist in an hour as well for a couple fillings... Not fun...
 Dentists BLAH, hope it went OK

And yes, all FP are done! I *think* everything is set. We have the ADR's we want, we know what we're doing each day and everything is paid off! :cool1: 56 days to go. It's coming quick!
:cool1:

I don't think I could have climbed out of it. I would much rather stay put in the monorail. I have a ladder phobia and I'm afraid of heights. There is no way I would climb down off that ladder on that fire truck. Well, if they offered me a night in the Cinderella suite, I would really think about doing it.
Me too!!! And good luck at the Doctor

Yeah, I am thinking that the Yacht Club will be my first choice. I have 3 nights at BCV booked already and am thinking a split stay so I can enjoy the both of them. But just in case I have a list in case that is booked up when it comes time to book (and hopefully get a bounceback offer when I go this October) I'm thinking Grand Floridian SL club level is my next choice tho. That way if Trader Sam's does happen to be open I'm just a walk away. Course I'm very liable to chance my mind (which I haven't made up yet anyway, not completely) Isn't planning half the fun anyway? LOL
SWEET plans thus far :thumbsup2

The good news is FP+ opened at midnight tonight...The bad news is that the system kept booting me out halfway through modifying times/attractions. What an awful system to navigate!!! Seriously, how can the company that develops software to animate hair and is in charge of the Star Wars franchise have such an unwieldy system???

I was able to get E&A for one day but would have had to switch a bunch of stuff around to grab a second - not worth it. I'm bummed it's one of our last park days (I know DD will be DYING to see them) but we'll do Rapunzel on our first MK day instead so that should appease her.
Biggest gripe overall is that I couldn't put DD by herself even though she will be 7 for the trip - it keeps going off her current age. The thing that kills me the most about it is she's 7 next week. I may still try to grab an E&A for her after she turns 7... just could not find two at anywhere near the same time. We had to break our group up for the one I did get (3 of us at 220, 1 at 230) but even that took A LOT of playing around.

Okay, I'm done griping and off to bed. Hope everyone has a Super Tuesday!!!
FP was a pain!! Glad you're done for now. Every day I look for a new time for A&E on another day...no times available. But I am trying to keep the 7 of us together, DH wants us not to be split up. :crowded:

Heather sorry you are in a post vacation funk....but thank you so much for your amazing trip report and pictures everyday.
::yes::

Argh!!! I'm so conflicted!!

I'm currently booked at POFQ for Marathon Weekend. I'd initially booked POP but after staying there for Expedition Everest weekend, I decided to go to the moderates (nothing wrong with POP, I just wanted slightly more "cushy" since I'm doing Goofy for the first time). So I changed to POFQ figuring I'd try something different - I've stayed at all the other mods with CBR being a favorite.

And now I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing trying something new or if I should call and try to change to CBR (at least when I made the reservations it was the same rate).

HELP!!! Pros and cons for each keeping in mind that one is completely new and one is more like home?

POFQ is a more compact resort like Pop, being CBR is hugemungous IMO. Plus boat to DTD, and you can also hit-up the restaurants at POR. Queen beds guaranteed, and there's beignets! :goodvibes

:welcome: to the RC thread!!Happy to have you!

Thanks! I'm glad to find it! I seem to go through this every year. LOL.

I guess because I've stayed there so many times CBR doesn't feel that big to me. I do like the guaranteed queen bed thing at POFQ, and the boat is convenient (was I told correctly that they will not fill the boat at POR so that there is space for people at POFQ so I wouldn't need to walk over to POR to get on the boat?) - sugar and heat led to a BAD experience in New Orleans and with beignets, so those are absolutely NO draw for me. LOL.

I will likely stay put...for now. I know this past year they tried to pixie dust me from a regular room to a pirate room and I was there early enough I could ask to be "downgraded" to my regular room - but I know I'll be getting in later, so the odds of them being able to change me if I got that unwanted pixie dust again would be slimmer.

Sometimes being so indecisive drives me crazy! (I'm doing the same thing for my Fantasy cruise...keep the cabin I have now with more of an obstruction on the balcony or go down one deck to a lesser obstruction BUT with a connecting door... GAH!)

Whenever I've stayed at POR they do not fill the boat there leaving room for folks at POFQ. :boat::boat::boat: I love boats!!! :thumbsup2

When my husband and I decided to upgrade to a moderate resort, I thought a bit about CBR, but the size alone made me nervous! So, we're staying at POFQ and it'll be great for our family right now. I'm excited!

We one one ADR for the Candlelight dining package on December 2. We made it for Teppan Edo at 5 PM, so I'm assuming we'll watch the 8:15 show. Now I just want to know who the narrator will be. We'll go that night no matter who it is.
We love Tokyo Dining but haven't done Teppan Edo yet. Anxiously awaiting new narrator announcements here. :scratchin

We will be finding out the sex sometime next week, thanks to all of the nifty genetic testing that was done due to my "advanced maternal age" (I'll be 36 next week!). Can't wait to find out what it is!
Finding out the sex... what a nice Birthday gift! princess::groom:

BCV May 27-30
Fantasy Cruise May 30-June 6
Loving the sounds of those plans! :thumbsup2

OMG! I forgot about SDMT! Holy cow! How could I overlook that ride?
I did that too! Creatures of habit I suppose. :p

Looking forward to Japan - something new and different before the strong possibility of homesteading (70% of DH's jobs are within 50 miles of where we are now, so we fully intend we will be back here and stay here after Japan)...............I am just not finding ANY TH meals!!!
I missed the Japan thing. Wow! What date and time do you need a TH ressie?

In making my list of my choices one of the interesting choices was where to put the Polynesian on it. Since this particular trip is late April, and some of the main lobby (so I've read, don't know how true it is) construction will be finished supposedly March or April, do I take the chance and stay there? Or just visit? YC/BC CL is first choice, Boardwalk, GF & Poly (CL rooms) make up the rest of the list (followed by all the others cause I have issues making up my mind on this) But as for The Polynesian, do I take the risk when it comes time for booking for me this fall, or does it get put further down on the list behind something else?
Your choice sounds good! We like it there. Ask to be near an elevator to avoid that "Shining" feeling.

My news, I'll be MIA for a few days. Hubs & I are going over to west coast of Vancouver Island to a friends Cabin on the coast. Leaving daughter home with the animals, lol. Very rustic, no inside plumbing, Internet, etc.
Sounds awesome! :)

The only part I did not enjoy was the fact that during the last song "God Bless the USA," some of the South American tour groups (extremely annoying as they already were) starting singing/chanting their own song...I found it offensive at that point in time...
Oh my, how disrespectful, and unfortunate. :sad2:

Quick recap that I just posted in another thread...
Thank you so much for the mini review... very helpful! :cool1:

I changed to POFQ figuring I'd try something different - I've stayed at all the other mods with CBR being a favorite. And now I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing trying something new or if I should call and try to change to CBR (at least when I made the reservations it was the same rate). HELP!!! What is your stress level with "change" vs "adventure"? And was are your goals for this particular trip? If relaxation is up there, then stay with what you know. Knowing your way around a resort and that feeling of "home" go a great ways toward feeling like you've had a Magical WDW stay for some folks. In May we just tried CBR after something like 11 stays at POR/POFQ and we just loved it. POFQ's small size is nice and the boat option is nice, too. If you are a northerner, you may "require" the feel of being in the tropics, which you won't get at POFQ.

I'm thinking of doing CP this Dec ...... maybe the 5th but not sure. I'll need to see if I have travel friends and what dates they might be there. :rolleyes1
I am usually able to be available. :lmao: Are you flexible on a CP date?

Hiya, Magic!!!
Hello my dear, Christine.

Is cuz staying in NJ??? :drive: coming down your neck of the woods???
He is making the move permanent to FLA-LA LAND! :beach: Just getting his ducks in a row now. He popped in at WDW for the 4th Fireworks. Any old excuse works for him! ... Still at TI?

Thank you for this!! While I don't "require" the feel of the tropics, doing something as big as the Goofy Challenge for the first time, being at a place that feels like "home" will help considerably.

Just called and changed to CBR! :thumbsup2 AND it's a little (like $13, but hey...every little bit counts) cheaper too! :cool1:

We love Tokyo Dining but haven't done Teppan Edo yet. Anxiously awaiting new narrator announcements here. :scratchin

I haven't eaten at Tokyo Dining, but we ate at Teppan Edo on our last trip. We loved it!! My friend hasn't eaten there, but wants to try it.

We are too!! I can't wait to know who will be our narrator. It won't make a difference on the day we go, but it would be nice to know.

Good Morning!! :wave2:

For whatever reason, I'm really having one of those Disney Blues mornings :upsidedow While I love doing my TR, sometimes browsing through my pictures is just :sad2: I've got to get busy planning another trip

piglet... paid off!!! :dance3: that's the best!! Glad all is done. 56 days will be here in no time. By the way, did you request a certain building at the resort?

 to all the RC peeps!!!
Happy Tuesday!
Heather
Yes, it feels great that everything is squared away. Now, our magic bands need to come and we need to get down there:cool1:

I did not request a specific building. I just want something close to transportation so if we're coming back and it's pouring we are close to the room. I figure that isn't too hard to accommodate.

Today, I've made our master packing list and I can safely say we have everything we need! I just need to order DD's diapers and disposable bibs but other than that I think we're ready. pixiedust:

Almost the middle of the week, folks! Crazy to think that July is half over.

ok, so I need some advice on how to do something. I have a Disney friend that has a close young relative, that was diagnosed with Leukemia this Summer. They started selling t-shirts to help with expenses and I got the idea to get one, in the girl's size, take it to WDW in December, have characters sign it, and then turn it into a pillow for her. Should I just have the characters use a Sharpee? If not, what do y'all think I should get them to sign with? Then, should I put a piece of cardboard between the two layers of the t-shirt, so if they are signing on the front it won't bleed through to the back? I plan on taking pictures with the characters and the t-shirt to print out for her.

That's really nice of you to do that for her. I think a Sharpie would work really well. They even have the fine point ones that are nice for writing. And I like your idea of putting the cardboard between it. Some craft stores even sell pieces of cardboard that are already cut into the shape of a shirt to slip it in the shirt.

Happy Wednesday everybody!
I am hopelessly behind, but enjoyed reading all the latest RC news the last couple of days.

We are back from our trip out west. It's always an adventure, and throwing in a missed connection due to maintenance issues added to the fun. Ha! I have to say United took very good care of us. Hotel, meal vouchers, and they got us on the first flight the next day. :thumbsup2
DH did pretty well on the trip, but it was tiring for him. I adjusted some of our fall plans to hopefully make them a bit easier. Short park trips combined with rests should help. He is very much looking forward to Food and Wine, and that's good. :goodvibes

I was finally able to use our bounceback. I've been calling pretty regularly to finally get one day at a time added to the YC portion of our split. CRO made me work for it. I didn't mind, Stormalong Bay is my happy place.
We are at BWI/CL 10/24-10/31, then YC/CL 10/31-11/3
Janet, I'm pretty sure this is the last change. Or at least as final as an RCer can be. :rotfl2:

I have been fairly surprised at the lack of availability at the Epcot resorts the end of Oct. It's a little early for so much to appear sold out, at least from our experience. I guess the word is getting around that it's a great time to go. :dance3:

That's all that's new here. I'll zip over and get a ticker or two, and then we'll be on the countdown. :cool1:
Hugs to all the RC friends, both old and new. :wave2: ::grouphug: :flower3:

Ginny, you had quite the adventure out west. You're a real trooper to roll with it all and make some adjustments to your fall plans as needed. I see your dates now and I'll update the BoardWalk Bulletin. Can't recall if the cottage was in there, but I'll remove it. Are you going to request to be close to the lounge for DH? We don't want you guys outside the Innkeeper's Club door. Are you going to request a Garden or BW View?

So you couldn't use the Military rate? I wouldn't give up on using it if you don't mind calling every once in a while. I think it would be an extra 5% off the BB rate?

I was really surprised, too that when we were at YC and WL in June/July, the resorts were at 100% occupancy. I understand how the convention resorts can easily fill up, but WL surprised me.

You and DH are going to have a great time and just take it day by day. Can't wait to hear about your trip when you return. Will you post a TR perhaps?:grouphug:

My word, I swear I've never changed resorts the way we have this trip.

We started at Pop Century, then considered Beach Club (which quickly got nixed by DH and DD), then we considered and talked at length about CBR and were about to make that ressie, but last minute booked Wilderness Lodge instead. Then a day later, changed my mind and went for the Grand Floridian.

So happy with our final decision but the overthinking to get from the start to now was :faint: Now the 46 day countdown begins. :hourglass

I'm starting to think about where I'd like to stay in 2017 for my 40th birthday. :-) Are they refurbishing BCV anytime soon? Thinking BWV or BCV may be the way to go for F&W. :-)

Thank you. We have never gotten autographs at WDW so I didn't know what would work. Would the chunkier Shampie's be easier for like Mickey and characters like that to hold?

It does sound like y'all had quit the adventure. I'm glad you didn't let it ruin your trip.

A WDW 40th trip sounds amazing!! I turn 40 a year before you do. I would love to do one for mine. The only problem is, mine is the January of Joey's Senior year, so I don't see doing it. Oh well, by the time I turn 45 all of the kids will have graduated, so I am going to shoot for that birthday to be at WDW.

Nothing new here about our trip. My friend's hubby didn't have to take his PT test this weekend. He goes to fit camp August 3, I'm thinking. It'll be two weeks of him working out and eating a very strict diet. Unless he lays down and takes a nap during the running part of the test, I don't see anyway he can fail it. I'm just knitting and at night, trying to get through the laundry I let pile up. Our dryer is in the garage along with an upright freezer and frig. It's too hot in the daytime to run the dryer since the freezer and frig are out there with it. It could cause both the freezer and frig to go out. I'm trying to get all the laundry washed, dried, and put away before school starts, so we won't be living out of the clothes baskets.

Awesome idea! YES to the cardboard between the material!

I'd make sure it's a FABRIC sharpie. The ink in those is designed to stand up to washings while the regular may or may not (I have a shirt that someone marked on accidentally with a regular one and it still hasn't come out, but just to be safe for something like this, I'd go with the fabric one.

I didn't know they made fabric Sharpies. When I have to get more yarn, I'll grab one. Thanks.

We've been there before with United! We got stranded in Denver and it ended up all working out in the end. Glad the same went for you all as well! :thumbsup2

I wish Disney would ban me from their website! Except for a few ADR's, I'm always looking to see what's available. :crazy2: I am happy to say that for our first full day, we added lunch at 50's Prime Time! :hyper: We have eaten their once but I want to try their PB&J shake!

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well on this might fine Wednesday! :goodvibes

Hot off the presses!!!! We are having a baby BOY!!!!!!!

Can't even believe it!!! And also great news that the genetic testing came back perfect! :thumbsup2

My morning multi quote went poof, grrrr. Popping in to say hello. Happy to see Kook Ginny and Magic hop in!!! :grouphug: I'll be baaaccck when I get a little downtime at work.
