As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Pas :cool1::cool1: for 3 weeks!! We leave for Ft Lauderdale in 12 days:faint: after this weekend I better start laying out what clothes I want to take.
I'm not even going to pretend I'm not going to overpack this time, I try, but it never seems to happen. :rolleyes2 resistance is futile!

Happy Friday Folks!!!!

Another beautiful picture!!

wookie... GREAT job snagging that flight!!! :yay: A day early is better than a day late ;)

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

Heather:goodvibes

Thank you. We're planning on spending most the day on Saturday touring Walking Dead filming sights. We'll spend the night in Atlanta (I think), then we'll get an earlier start on driving to Orlando. We had planned on (when I was flying in on Sunday) to start the drive to WDW about midnight. Now we'll arrive in Orlando early enough to check into a hotel, and get a full night sleep, before checking into SoG on Monday, December 1.

:wave2:

Pretty big update: They were able to take the father off the ventilator and his head injuries are stable! He is recognizing his parents and acting appropriately. :cheer2: Doctors think he should make a full recovery.

The mom is coming along too. She had a large liver laceration that required two surgeries so she's been more unstable than her husband. They're going to keep her on the ventilator through the weekend and hopefully begin weaning it Monday morning. She has a long ways to go, but is healing appropriately.

The plan for now is that we'll have the kids until Monday at least. If things are looking more and more positive than one set of grandparents will come and pick them up. We're definitely keeping our knees bent and the kids busy! ;) Thank goodness for sprinklers, coloring books, movies and toys!

As for the other family, the person did pass away but thankfully they were able to donate organs and give other people a shot at life. I just find it so coincidental that two accidents happened within days of each other by t:)he same cause.

Very glad the weekend is here and DH will be here to help. Tomorrow I think we'll try and tackle the zoo.

Hope everyone has great start to their weekend.:)

That is amazing news!! I'll keep them in my prayers, until they are healthy and home with their babies.

This thread is awesome. I am stunned to find such an understanding and perceptive group. My changing drives my wife nuts. She doesn't understand it's all for the greater good.

I think I've found this site at the tail end my spree of changes. Last change was the best; 2 nights in Cocoa Beach changed to 2 nights AoA. So we are in Orlando now Jan 2-11, have 2 nights AoA and then 7 nights at Floridays. Then 6 nights Treasure Island on the Gulf Coast. If I could I'd convince everyone (traveling with my brother and sister too) to spend those 6 days at Disney as well. But that looks like a hard sell.

Brilliant thread!

:welcome: Your trip sounds amazing!! I need you to rub off on my husband, who isn't as in to the planning part of the trip. Actually, he has sworn off any more trips involving Disney until Star Wars has it's own park inside WDW. Then again he said that before we went on our road trip in May, and we still did 1/2 a day at DCA and a full day at DL.

Kim, I know I glimpsed a scarf in the making ... which will be fabulous as always! Hoping any legal issues are straightened out.

Thank you. I hope so as well. We're meeting with the lawyer on Friday. When I talked to her, she said the process could take two weeks, or it could take as long as six months. I don't know if I can do this for six months. Everyone tells me it's a frivolous and BS law suit, but it still stressing me out to have court papers with my name on it. I'm assuming that's why I felt so bad yesterday. I haven't been sleeping well. I go to sleep between 3 (if I'm super lucky) and 5 AM. Once I get to sleep, I usually don't wake up until about noon. Yesterday the hubby needed me to help him at work, so I couldn't sleep in. I kept feeling like I was going to faint, or be sick. It got so bad, that I had to have him take me home as he drove to his last call. Luckily today, I feel better. I think it was a case of lack of sleep and temps over 100. I just don't handle heat well any way.

Well, I hope everyone is have as relaxing a Saturday as I am. I'm just going to get caught up on my DVR, before watching paranormal shows tonight, while knitting.

Quick question -- Disney has sent me two reminders (one yesterday and today) about Magic Bands. They want me to verify our address but everything in MDE is correct. Is there a step here I am missing?

For some reason, I think I had the same problem with our last trip. It's probably just a glitch in their system, since we all know how great Disney IT is.:lmao:

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the health screens. Do you know how long you'll have to wait?
I'm glad they did so well flying. Hopefully you can get some sleep tonight and can be super lazy tomorrow.

Well, orders dropped yesterday, which stinks because health screens have to be done within 14 days... so thanks so much for starting the clock on a Friday!!! Grrrr... gotta love the military. :headache: That said, DH is coming back into town tomorrow and will call Japan tomorrow night (Monday AM in Japan) and start setting things up there, and then when we can start setting things up here. My only concern is since my hip condition is so freaky they may automatically veto me from the screen but I have my surgeons green lighting the move so it's just a matter of coordinating.

Do glad the girls rocked the flights! If DD1 had freaked I would've dreaded flying overseas but she was a trooper. DD7 is a seasoned flier - Honolulu to DC several times her first 3 years and tons more since!

I hope your drama is working itself out... no good to have such stress!!! I was sick with worry with our state trooper drama so I can sympathize with your mind racing about all of it!

We love Estes Park, Co! Such a fun place with little ones. Maybe next time you can make a quick visit. Glad to hear the girls did well flying. I firmly believe flying with little ones is exhausting no matter how smooth the travel day is. I say you deserve a chill out day tomorrow.:cheer2: After all is IS FRIDAY! :goodvibes

Hope everyone has a great start to the weekend!

Loved Estes Park when we went a few years ago and hope to take DDs when they are older. I was a bit bummed that there is a Starbucks and Safeway within eye-shot of The Stanley, but what can you do?

I hope your countdown is going well! I know my ticker is dwindling so yours is even closer!!!

Happy Friday Folks!!!!

dimn...Welcome back to real life :upsidedow! Glad y'all had a good visit. Sounds like your plans for Japan are coming along nicely:thumbsup2 My sister and her husband were over there for 3 years and loved it!! Bill and I visited and really liked it, also.
Heather:goodvibes

Love, LOVE the pic! Keeps me sane!

I am both super antsy and super excited about Japan... but mostly freaking out about packing! Not to mention needing to leave stuff for the Dec trip out so the movers don't pack all that up! Logistics!!!! AHHHH!!!

So glad your family enjoyed their time and love hearing good tourist stories. My folks are stoked - they bought tour guides and are ready. They both traveled some in the Orient but love the idea of having our place to camp out at and spend time bouncing around. ILs aren't as thrilled but I think the trips will be worth it.

Welcome home!! And of course you can't help but WANT to tweak things a bit :rotfl2:

*grumpy* I am not a fan of MDE... it makes too much stuff to tweak so I'm afraid to mess with anything for fear it will fall like dominoes! I'm back to considering RCing!!!

TGIG Everyone!!

Hi Dimndgal! Oh need to read more to see how your two trips are shaping up. And wow, congrats on Japan! Are you still planing a trip up to KOP?

Hello to all newcomers and veterans RCers!! Hoping to be able to read thru the rest of the posts soon.

I'm glad you had so much fun tooling around and enjoying summer! I am hoping to make it to KOP in the fall - DH has said when we KNOW for sure we're going to Japan we need to stock up on clothes for the girls (expensive and hard to get to major cities in Japan) so I plan on a fun weekend of sale shopping in a new mall!!! Will keep you posted!

Also, want to second the welcome to the newbies! Great group of wonderful DISers here!

I am happy your friends are doing well but so sorry to hear about the passing. It's such a bittersweet experience to donate organs but I am glad someone will be able to use such an amazing gift and that something good came out of something so tragic. to you and everyone involved!

You'll never find a less catty, more open and enthusiastic thread on the internet! We can talk you into or out of anything! Welcome and I like your plan... keep working on it and it'll turn into the ultimate Disney/Florida vacation!!! :good vibes

Minimal rest this weekend - DD7 is bouncing off the walls from lack of routine and weird weather (humid and drizzly) and DD1 is teething and fighting a cold. Will be thrilled when DH gets back and I can tag-off and start getting our ducks in a row for Japan. Should know about the health screen in a few weeks and then it'll just be counting down!
September trip is charged! We would PIF but with the joy of moving expenses on the horizon, we're trying to sock some extra funds away and will pay off slowly (Thank you, Disney Visa!!!) For some reason I have been looking at CR and GF for Sept... which is odd since GF isn't my cup of tea and CR is so pricey. I think I'm trying to pack 3 years worth of trips into this one... esp since DD7 will be a Disney adult when we come back! Hmmmm.....

OH, and was at a Disney Store today and saw the unthinkable! An Elsa dress, on the rack at 3pm! I about fell over! Admittedly, it was gone by the time I left the store but WHOAAAA!!!

Hope everyone has a great Sunday and *HUGS* to all!

Changed again!! Decided I didn't want to stress out about the $$ so we switched to the All Star Sports from the AoA suite. Got the Fall discount and a great rate, the room is even paid in full. :woohoo: Figured we wouldn't be using the room a lot so I downsized.

Now to figure out how to link an expedia booking to the app.....hmmmmm....lol

Paid in full is nice.
Did expedia send you the Disney reservation number? Mine is an 8 digit number. That plus name let me link it.

So exciting Sue and Pas!! Speaking of packing, thanks to all for the All Star pool towel advice. I decided to pick up new towels and mesh pool bags (along with some personalized lollipops and buttons) for this trip's "in room suprise!" I was running out of ideas since the boys have lots of string bags from etsy, lanyards are no longer necessary thanks to magic bands, etc. So the towels fit the theme. We're super light packers - especially in the summer and without MNSSHP or a runDisney event - so we have space. I won't describe my packing method and how I ensure light packing - it's a little crazy.

dimndgal, enjoying following along with your moving adventures!!

Figured as much. Got another one today. I guess they're anxious to send us our magic bands. I cannot complain.

Oh do tell!! I need some inspiration to help me not overpack!! We will be gone for a month, but plan on laundry day before we leave Ft Lauderdale, then another mid stay in wdw.

Happy Monday Morning! :wave2:

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. I'm hopelessly behind, but wanted to pop in and say hello.

Busy day for us. So not tons of Dis time today :upsidedow

Some people better get busy packing;) Trips are quickly approaching!!!!

 to all!

I just think Mickey is as excited to meet Charlotte, as you are for her to meet him.

Pas, I kinda sort of let something slip then tried to cover it up.. nope, the girls are too quick! but I was happy it all worked out!

:welcome: Your wife can join my hubs with the RC frustration ;) Nice change!! We love Treasure Island, and IMO the Gulf is SO much nicer than the Atlantic. So AoA is a great choice! Have you stayed at Floridays before? It gets great reviews so I am curious. :scratchin Everyone here is super friendly and always happy to have a new changer :thumbsup2

Good luck with the screening

They didn't send us one, so we called and they called Disney and got us the number. Expedia customer service was very nice! We're all set now. Just have to call Disney and cancel another reservation we have for the All Star Movies.

Oops I did it again. After booking one night in a Lion King Suite (2 nights in LM rooms - 1 night in LK suite - 3 nights at CBR)...

I realized that I could get 1 night pool view room at AKL - 100$ cheaper than the LK Suite. I'm crazy about AKL, DH loves it too...

So we'll move more. LOL

Hello :wave2:

It's been a while since I've posted on this very helpful thread but since I find I'm starting to "spin" out of control, I believe now's the time because I need some help :upsidedow.

Instead of concentrating on my August trip (which, for the record, I'd just like to state that I've never once contemplated a change from the moment I booked it:)), I'm obsessing over our October stay instead :sad2:.

This October, it will only be myself and DH. It's our 2nd solo trip without the girls and we will be celebrating our 29th :scared1: wedding anniversary with a little F&W. Now, when I first booked, I started with a garden view room at the BC, that turned into a standard vw, YC CL room which then became a garden view, YC CL (this is where we currently are for 5 days).

Months after we booked, DH decided we needed to add one extra night at the beginning of our trip. Great I thought, until I found out that I couldn't get anything at the BC or YC with our existing BB offer. So, I booked us another R/O for the first night at CSR, Business Class. Figured, eh, it's only one night, we'll be just fine, no sense of spending any extra $$. Um, yeah, ok, that lasted for about 2 whole weeks. Then I started feeling antsy, so I called back and switched us to the AKL for the first night, it wasn't much more so I figured why not? Well, about a week later, I just wasn't feeling it, so I made another call and switched us again, this time to the CR, Std vw/King, CL (because that wasn't much more $$ :sad2:).

One would think I'd be happy, right? I mean the entire trip is paid off, I'm trying two new resorts (which BTW, DH still thinks we are staying the first night at CSR - ummm, SURPRISE?! :rolleyes1). Earlier today, I decided to scan the boards & came across some not so great reviews of the YC CL and now I'm 2nd guessing myself...ugh!!! Help, please!
