First I have to say that when we went down to Universal last 4th of July week it was PACKED!!!!! But because we stayed on-site at the Hard Rock Hotel, we were able to go to the Front Of The Line with our on-site express pass privilige. If Universal did not offer that perk, we would not have gone at that time of year. I can also say if looks could kill, we'd be dead a thousand times. People who are waiting on line for an hour do not look kindly upon those with an express pass. But that's why we paid $250 a night at the Hard Rock Hotel!
Also, if you would like to look into how badly Corporate America treats people, maybe you can interview those poor souls who HAVE TO WORK HOLIDAYS BECAUSE STORES INSIST ON STAYING OPEN!!!!
It amazes me - it truly does - how KMart, supermarkets, movie theaters, etc. can Open on a holiday such as Christmas or Easter.
I don't want to hear the slandering remarks about how not everyone is a Christian, ( I realize that, I'm from NYC and we've got every religion here) but if Non-Christians really took a look at it, too, they would realize it's Not a violation of their civil rights to Not work on a holiday (Imagine, No, you cannot make me Not Work because it is Easter, I'm not Catholic!),
but it would be an actual day off to relax at home, read a book, watch television, get your photographs in those albums you've been wanting to do, waste time playing video games or play on the internet...........
Heck, our school district is off for a week in April starting with the day after Passover. I'm not Jewish, but you won't hear me balking about my kids having a week off from school because we're Catholic and we don't celebrate Passover! That is time that we will be spending as a family and we gladly accept it.
If someone is telling me to take the day off, you don't have to ask me twice! And if some poor mother or father NEEDS that day to work to make extra money, I also realize that, but down the line, is it really worth it? Corporate America is sooooo taking advantage of their employees it is disgusting.
When I initially saw the Universal Studios advertisements on TV about working and working and never taking a vacation, I had to laugh, it was so funny!
But it is absolutely TRUE. In other parts of the world, people get Much More vacation time than we do here. I know MANY people that NEVER take a vacation, and I work with some who never do! You should see the look I got at the last meeting when my boss was trying to figure out when to schedule the next meeting and my co-workers heard I was going away. It is a Shame. You are only on this Earth once and you should have a good time while you are here.
Me, my family and some of my friends do not patronize ANY store on a holiday where those employees should be home relaxing with their family. I also ask any reader of this post Not to patronize any store on any national holiday such as Thanksgiving or Christmas or Easter, even if you do not celebrate those holidays. If no one goes to the stores, then the stores will have no reason to stay open.
Sorry it's off-topic, but when you think about it, it's the same thing - different company.
