Artist Point Confirmed to Become a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Character Dinner

Hmmm, I sure hope that they keep us updated on where to find old Artist's Point favorites, as the blog article says. The mushroom soup was delicious.

To me, it all comes down to the menu and its execution. If it tries to keep some forest spin to it with lots of mushrooms and game, and at least a few unique offerings, then this will be fantastic. If the plated entree choices are the same steak, salmon, chicken, and a vegetarian pasta option offered everywhere else, we will stick with the Signatures.
If the new menu includes game or a mushroom not named button or portobello, I’ll buy you dinner.

The title of the linked article clearly uses the word rumor not confirmed. It also says the rumors come from the DIS forums.

I changed the title of the thread from "rumor" to "confirmed" once the official announcement was made by Disney today.

Begging pardons. I only read the first page of the thread.
As far as confirmation of the change sounds like some version of new BOG dinner to come. Ah well it is what it is.

It would be fantastic, if they kept a similar menu. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening. The official blog made it sound more like a CRT dining experience than a fine dining experience. I like CRT, but that's all about dining in the castle, for me. CRT quality food at AP would be a one & done for us. If not for Dopey, we wouldn't try it once.

Hate it. Won't go to it. WL and VWL used to be a topnotch resort. I'm tired of the changes that only serve to pack in more people and make Disney richer. Lord knows they're hurting for money, though. Didn't like the removal of wilderness with the new build and renovations a couple of years ago. Didn't like the reopening of Roaring Fork with its poorer quality menu and food. Enjoyed Geyser Point when it first opened (despite it taking away the beach) but it soon regressed. Territory Lounge reduced its menu and will now be encroached upon by the hordes waiting to get into AP. Signature experience has died at the Lodge, so it will be tough to call it a deluxe resort anymore. Thanks for nothing, Disney.

No, I was just confused and wondering if maybe you meant the HDDR thread ... rumor of it closing started by TheDIS. So much change and confusion on what is and isn't happening at Disney lately. Hard to keep up with.

I'm so doing this! Please, please include the Evil Queen!

It says ...... "you’ll even have an opportunity for an encounter with The Queen".

Anyone know when ADRs for the new Cars breakfast at Boma will be available?

You were close ... on twitter ...

I don't know how Disney channels revenue from dining at its resorts. Why not turn an already boisterous restaurant like Whispering Canyon into the character meal? The design is set up for loudness, and you can keep people in the lobby waiting or in the gift shop buying.

Well, there has been speculation that Disney is trying to get rid of the resort “levels” & make all the resorts more alike. Guess this is a step in that direction.

Personally, I don’t see why they couldn’t have just put this character meal in Whispering Canyon & leave Artist Point alone. Then there would have been 1 loud chaotic restaurant & still 1 more relaxing, actual fine dining restaurant. Guess Disney really is just going for all crowds, all the time. I know things have to change , but they really are chippping away at Disney World as we know it today.

I endorse the removal of Disney's silly classist resort categories so long as the resorts with more than one restaurant differentiate between dining experiences. If you want snack food? We got it. You want a hotel buffeteria or character meal? We got it. You want fine dining? It's here too.

- My guess is that AP was not generating the income they were looking for and WC does.
- WC is wide open and easy to walk in to, so these characters would be visible, maybe accessible, to non-diners.
- Being visible in the lobby was likely to bring in lookyloos.
- Keeping them hidden, means the price can be more justified.
- Restaurant has had character meals in past, it is set up better for it.

Yes! I'm not completely against a Snow White/Dwarfs/Evil Queen meal at all, just not thrilled with where it's going because I don't want my beloved mushroom soup may be gone as well as other dishes we enjoyed there. If the food quality stays the same, great! But I highly doubt it will...............

I can get behind this. DH and I will savor our last reservation at AP on 9/21. :)
Same for us, as soon as the rumors started I booked AP for our trip next month :goodvibes

I think that you are right. Frankly, they could have used BOG as the model, had a photo op at the end, and kept the restaurant itself calm. Not going to lie, if I saw my pal Grumpy I would likely be given a restraining order! LOL!
