I have many happy memories of Disney, and Art might be the reason for one of my most favorite, cherished memory.
Back in April 1996, my wife and I were walking through the lobby of the Beach Club. We saw a CM, all dressed up in full naval regalia, talking on a Mickey telephone while being watched very intently by a little girl. She couldn't have been more than 3 years old, if that. The CM, who must have been Art, was checking to see if Mickey could have breakfast with the little girl the next day. While on the phone, Art let Mickey know that the little girl wanted to see Mickey the next day, and he let the little girl know Mickey was looking forward to seeing her, too. The little girl, in a very excited voice, asked if Minnie would be at breakfast, too. Art asked Mickey her question, and was told that Minnie would be there as well. Mickey also told Art that he was going to give the little girl an autographed picture of the three of them the next day.
After Art hung up the phone, the little girl walked away with the biggest smile on her face, knowing that Mickey and Minnie were going to see her the next day.
If someone ever asks me what makes Disney different, or what is "Disney magic", I always tell them this story.
Thanks, Art, for bringing the Magic to Life! ! !
