I am looking at past navigators and looking for things to do on my first cruise as an adult in February on the wonder. Has anybody done that, how is it?

I did this tour and really enjoyed it! The tour primarily hi-lights the art and music and decor around the ship that creates the 'theme-ing' in the different areas. I'm sure the Cast Member who leads the tour will also influence how good the tour is.

I did this last month on Fantasy. Lots of good ship trivia and design elements that are easy to miss, but really cool when pointed out.

I did it on the Wonder a year or so ago. I thought it was really interesting and they pointed out a lot of details that our might not otherwise notice. Of course you always run the risk of having "that guy" in your tour who thinks he knows it all and is determined to let everyone know it. That actually added an extra layer of interest to the tour I was on because "that guy" was wrong about everything. But the tour itself is very worth taking.

I have done this tour on the Magic and Dream and they were both enjoyable and informative.

Love the tour and strongly recommended, especially for trivia buffs. On my 7 day cruise, it was offered day 1 and day 6. If you take the tour on day 1, you can appreciate the ship more and have time for the various amenities.

Note, this tour is rated ADULT in the Navigator as it may reveal too much to young children.

Oh look.... someone posted a little clip online...

I was wondering why this was an adult tour, care to expand on what may be too much for kids? I am hoping to do this your and I am pretty sure DD13 will be sad to miss it.

There was nothing in the tour that I remember that was adult oriented. The tour does visit adult areas (Palo/Remy) so that is why it is for adults only.

As OP stated it goes into Palo which I think is one of the reasons but also it is adult so that you don't have issues with kids being bored. Looking at the artwork around the ships and explaining the theming is quite an adult topic and I think reaslitically a lot of children would find it boring and therefore possibly end up disrupting it for those people who genuingly are interested in it. There is a walking tour of the ship on embarkation day that is made for families and does explain the ship in less detailed way which is always fun.

I get that young children may be bored, but there are older tween/teens that may be interested in the art and architecture. Had friends go on the walking tour and said it was more about getting oriented on the ship, totally different from the art of the theme. Guess I will just have to go alone and update DD about what I learn.

In addition to the boredom concerns on young children. There is a lot of discussion about ship design and pixie-dust magic concepts that may not be appropriate for young children to hear. It's listed in the navigator as an "adult activity". Have a look at the earlier clip link to get an idea of what's discussed.

You can always show up and leave the free tour if the kids loose interest.

On HAL and Princess. They offer paid "captain's ship tour" (HAL calls it "Behind the Seas" and Princess calls it the "Ultimate tour") where you can visit the bridge, engine room, kitchen and where the crew spend their personal time. The Art of the Theme tour is free and is the closest to it. But never taking you to these private areas.

I have done it, it's good, but I think the name of the activity gives the wrong impression, It doesn't have anything to do with a show but is trivia and you learn a lot that you could miss.

"Show" in the Disney sense is not the same as "show" in the Broadway or Television sense. In Disney-speak "show" is everything from what you see in the elements of design to how it's all put together to how the people are on stage (meaning in the public view). So in Disney-speak it does make perfect sense.

Okay, my question is below. I have a 15-year-old that does enjoy joy details. She spends lots of time in museums with me throughout the country. She's not the kind that gets bored easily, does well in all her advanced classes at school. Since day 1 there would be no Palo brunch/dinner at the time then would we be able to have her join? Or is there something else she shouldn't see?

There is nothing on it that kids can't see. It is simply an adult activity. Check navigators to see if there is a family tour. I was on MGic couple years ago so I might be remembering wrong.

I like to jot notes and take pics for my own photo book too fyi

There is nothing inappropriate, but it is an adults only activity.
The cast member who hosted our last two explained that politely but firmly to parents who showed up with their teens.

I'm not stating an opinion either way, but since you seem sincerely confused about why a 15-YO would be a problem on this, I'll try to clarify. I think the issue is that DCL likes to reserve some activities for adults only as a benefit to the adults. The same way some people don't like it if a teen is in the bar after 9PM to watch a musician, even if they are "quiet and well behaved," or during adults only trivia, some people feel uncomfortable with teens on the tour even if the parents are sure they won't get bored or be disruptive. Likewise, some people feel uncomfortable if they have to speak up and say they'd prefer to keep the adults only activity, for adults only, so they rely on the CMs to enforce the rules.
