Around the "World" in 13 meals....

enjoying your reviews so far - like that you've got lots of details, can really imagine eating there myself! :)

Thanks for the reviews, I'm looking foward to more.

I especially appreciate your review of Chefs, as we're going here for the first time in December. I'm easily impressed of other's cooking (I do 98% of the cooking at home) so hopefully it'll be awsome for me.

Ok, I didn't actually plan the day's meal to turn out like this - well...I'll just walk you through it!:rotfl:

We wake up bright and early to get to MK as soon as it opens. We don't want to waste a lot of time with breakfast, so we stop on Main Street at the Bakery. We were somewhat surprised to find a rather long, slow moving line inside. Somewhere I had read on the boards that there was a separate line for pastries only - but that didn't seem to be the case for us. DB, DF and I had cheese danishes, DH has the croissant and DD had a fruit salad. The fruit salad was fresh and she ate it all up. The croissant was flaky and light and the danishes were cold, but otherwise pretty tasty. I would suggest this for a quick bite on the go to get those FP's!

For lunch, I thought we would try Columbia Harbour House b/c I had read several places how good their food was - especially the tuna sandwhich. But - when it came time to order, the prospect of tuna on a hot day did not entice, instead the whole lot of us had chicken fingers and fries. Now, I'm not usually a chicken finger type of gal - but these did not disappoint. As I don't eat many of them, I don't really have anything to compare it to - but they hit the spot and satisfied us all. This place was very crowded naturally, but actually finding a table was not hard. The line to order moves really slowly, but once you order, food comes out very fast.

The original plan was to stay in MK all day long and catch Spectromagic and Wishes that night. We had 6:50pm ADR's at The Plaza as well. However, after we rode everything we wanted to, DD decided she would rather go back to the hotel and swim for a while. So we did.....and when it came time to get dressed and trek it back to MK, no one really felt like doing this. Plus, we had a MK view and could watch Wishes from our room later. I called around to find any openings in any of the restaurants at CR, Poly or GF to no avail. The only thing available was Kona or Concourse Steakhouse after 9:30pm. So that is how we ended up eating in the Contemporary Food Court.

But you know what, it turned out well. I mean, The Plaza is a casual restaurant anyway with only OK food - so it's not like we were going to miss out on some fabulous gourmet meal, right? So down to the food court we went. DF had the chili dog, DD had the kids' cheeseburger and the rest of us had the double bacon cheeseburger. The food kinda reminded me of high school cafeteria food - and I don't mean that in an awful way. It was somewhere between fast food and TS fare. Not great - but not bad either. Some added bonuses are that the CR food court shows old classic Disney cartoons and is adjacent (at least for now) to the arcade. The CR has a great arcade and we spent over an hour in there between dinner and Wishes. Good times!

Thanks for all the wonderful comments - you really now how to make my day!

I did add some photos to my previous reviews -sorry, not a lot of food pics, I always forgot to take the pic until the meal was half gone and then it's just not that appetizing to look at, ya know?

Great review and photos!!! What room did you have? Excellent view for fireworks!

We're going to be at the CR the end of May, glad to hear the nice comments about the Food and Fun Center! Thanks for the great reviews!

Great reviews Jill! Keep 'em coming!

For what it's worth, the buffet at Akershus is much better at lunch and dinner.

The line at Main Street Bakery is usually the longest line we wait in during our entire trip! And that's during slow time (early Dec) so I suspect it's just about always like that.

Booknut - we were in room 4332 on the 7th floor of the tower. It was a great room and we very much enjoyed the view.

Thanks to all for the comments...I'll try to get to the rest of the reviews soon.

erikthewise - We were afraid to try Akershus for lunch or dinner b/c of the Norwegian cuisine - reviews I read were mixed...people seem to love it or hate it, similar to Boma...so anyway, that's why I chose the breakfast.
