Argh. The 20% off coupon can't be used for Disney Giftcards afterall. :(

My complaint is not with the fact that Target is excluding the gift cards. It says on the coupon that they are exceptions.

My complaint with Target is the fact that they did not say anywhere in the Black Friday ad that gift cards would be exceptions.

To me, they misrepresented the coupon in the ad and duped a lot of people into purchasing $75 worth of merchandise in order to get the coupon. That is when everyone was notified of the exceptions.

The ad said spend $75 and get 20% off of a single transaction. Period.

Target should have worded the exceptions better in the ad.

It is what it is, and life will go on.

Well I didn't get as much of a discount as I was hoping for, but still saved $234 using my Red Card and Pharmacy Voucher, some other items that were on sale Thursday were not on sale today so it would have been cheaper without the 20% coupon. I am still bummed and wish they would clarify it better:(

I just purchased the $25 Regal theater cards and received the discount automatically. They came up as entertainment cards. I wanted Chic Fil A cards also but couldn't find them. Will go back another day for those since I have 2 more coupons.

I love a bargain and really love getting the best deals possible! I pride myself on being a bargain shopper.

HOWEVER...it says excludes gift cards, and for goodness sake, the card says "Disney Gift Card". I'm not sure why people are so mad at Target. No other store gives discounts on gift cards.

I can't imagine the pressure that people have put these managers under that have made them override the purchase.

Quite frankly this is embarrassing!!!!

I doubt any of the managers who are giving the discount know they are doing anything wrong. They probably assume it should apply because it is coded as an entertainment card. I hope none of them get in trouble for it.

It says no gift cards on the darn coupon. Its a Disney GIFT CARD. I don't understand how that's deceptive. They can put whatever exclusions they want on their coupons even if its different for each coupon.

I agree. They put the exclusion pretty clearly on the coupon. Not sure what else people want really. Coupon says doesn't work on gift cards...um, these are gift cards...

I sure hope all of you who are making a stink about this do not cause all of us to lose the discount we have already been given for years on Disney gift cards by Target :worried:

I bought a ton of gift cards as well as groceries. The cashier was excited for me and already knew the 20% would work because she had done the same thing for someone earlier who was going on a Disney cruise. Because the amount was so high a supervisor (maybe a shift supervisor...he was pretty young) had to come over to approve it or something...he thought the gift cards could not be used but the cashier as well as the "Big Wig" manager (as the cashier called her) who happened to be walking by said "No, Disney cards are fine, just not Target gift cards and iTunes". So, I wouldn't throw in the towel people. I would definitely check it out for yourself! Good Luck!!!pixiedust:

This IS a valid complaint. It's not a reason to pressure a manager to override the system or anything, but is a reason to be unappy with Target. The ad should have clearly stated the coupon exclusions in my opinion.

OK, so we got the 20% but after waiting quite some time for it to be sorted out! Myself and another lovely Dis'er argued with the store manager, especially when the 5% red card worked declaring that indeed they are entertainment cards. We demanded she call guest services, which she did. She spend about 1/2 hour talking to them and they finally allowed her to do the discount. She told us we were not alone and those managers who called guest services were being given authorization to do the 20%. I was glad we asked them to call.

To the Dis'er that I was there with today- thanks so much for your help! Glad we got it all sorted out and I wish you a very merry christmas trip! We will watch for you on dec 11!

So did they make mention if they werew going to recode it in the systme so that they will work company wide or just for the ones that had called guest services?

I dont want to be one of those guys but 20% OF $6000 is worth asking the question of he Target staff.

It did work for me with a manager override. She said technically it should have been included in the 20% as it is an entertainment card and misleading. They are also having issues with game consoles as the wording was vague.

I know it's a long shot since we're so tiny, but has anyone in Rhode Island tried this and had success?

May be worth your while to take a drive to MA!!! That's where I am and was able to get the discount!

This was pretty much my exact experience!

I hope they get this straightened out soon.

It stinks for people who already used their coupons to save $25 on some household supplies when they could have saved hundreds buying Disney cards.

Target really should have known from last year. I'm sure they could see that people were getting the Disney cards with the coupon back then.

So glad to hear that corporate Target is doing the right thing. I had a feeling they would if push came to shove because this is absolutely a legal issue and they are well aware of that. That's why I told people to be persistent, because the law is on the consumers side on this issue. I love Target and am very loyal to them, but trying to deny some items as exclusions when they weren't listed as exclusions was just wrong.

Ran to target. Accumulated cards. Nicely spoke to front end supervisor explaining situating and information from here. She went and spoke with someone. We went to an unused register as to not screw up the regular lines.

Result.

$5000 Disney Cards. $3800.

Happy dance. Happy dance. Happy dance.
