Argh. The 20% off coupon can't be used for Disney Giftcards afterall. :(

Spiteful for breaking company policy? We both don't know the details of why the manager overrode the system. If you want to make the guest happy, Target would not have restricted this for everyone. Sorry I play by the rules but it is not ''messed up thinking''.
Spiteful for wishing that someone would lose their job because they extended a courtesy to a customer other than yourself. Maybe the manager should not have done the override, but wishing for him to lose his job over it is just wrong.

I wrote politely on Target's Facebook page asking what their policy is regarding entertainment cards and gift cards. I explained how confusing it is to allow their entertainment cards to be discounted for certain promotions but then to exclude them without specifically stating it on the 20% coupon.

I don't believe I made any type of scene. In fact I didn't even go to the store yet. However, I am suggesting others write on their wall in order to persuade them to address the confusion.

I just want to state that I did not ask anyone to override the coupon, it was offered. Also, I did not make a scene or throw a fit, I simply explained that I was told by management that it could be done on entertainment cards. I just wanted to put that out there :)

I had a feeling it would end up being a store by store decision as to whether a particular cashier or manager would honor it for the Entertainment Cards or not. As a lawyer, I encourage everyone to be persistent and firm in asking the manager to honor it their store today if they want to use the coupon for entertainment cards.

It absolutely could be considered a deceptive practice for Target to honor promotional discounts (Red Card and Pharm Rewards) on those cards for all other promotions and then try to exclude them today without specifically noting it on the coupon or in any of the ads they ran. Assert your rights as a consumer, and try to force them to honor it!! (I'm not encouraging anyone to get nasty with the employees, just be persistent and firm.)

It says no gift cards on the darn coupon. Its a Disney GIFT CARD. I don't understand how that's deceptive. They can put whatever exclusions they want on their coupons even if its different for each coupon.

Anyone know if gift cards can be returned? My sister tried the coupon and bought $600 in Disney Gift Cards. As others have already found out, the discount didn't apply. She's wondering if she can return them so that I can buy them with my RedCard/Pharmacy rewards discount.

I returned a Disney and a Starbucks a couple of days ago.

If your goal here is to have Target remove the 5% Red Card and Pharmacy discounts from entertainment cards then yes by all means. They will address it by removing it, not expanding it.

boy. Do I agree with that!

You made a huge mistake, that may cost Disney card , target shoppers a lot of $$ in the future.

Yes, I think this might have long term consequences. It would have been fantastic, but we all knew it was a long shot. I couldn't stomach asking any employee to override thousands of dollars knowing I could cost someone their job!

I am in shock over people getting so upset about this.....calling AG and so forth. Even asking managers to override the coupon.....I work in retail and someone could seriously lose their job over this. Could you sleep at night knowing that you caused someone to be fired to save you 20%??? Target has been great about letting us have the 5% savings or 10% with the pharmacy rewards coupon.....it's people like you that are all creating such a fuss about this one time the coupon doesn't work that may cause Target to rethink giving us any kind of discount in the future. Seriously let it go before you cause the to revoke the 5% that we do get to save!

ITA. Let it go. We already get the red card savings plus pharmacy rewards. The fine print excludes gift cards. It would have been nice to save 20%, but c'mon, did anyone really think that was possible???

Tell me what generates one person getting over another. I'm not the person asking for special treatment. Now, we are hearing the manager offered the discount. He just cost the company $500 and now other guest will want the same. That is not a manager I want running an organization. Good leaders need to consider the long term consequences and not just getting the guest out of the store.

Can anyone confirm or deny whether or not the other entertainment cards are working? Restaurants and such.

I thought it was *possible* which is why I purchased 2 Disney cards on BF to qualify for the 20% off coupon. Last year the Friends and Family promo (spend $50 get $10 Target gift card back) worked on Disney Entertainment Cards so it was possible that it would work on this promo. It looks like it doesn't unless you can find a friendly manager to override the system and give it to you anyway.

Please remove your request off their FB wall :flower3:.

Hope it works for phone cards at my target. Could redeem my excitement a little as I have two kids on pay as you go, and am considering it myself.

Agreed! Now we will probably lose any and all discounts on gift cards at Target.

I posted in the other thread, but this worked for me.
It rang up as invalid, however the manager overwrote it because it should qualify as its an entertainment card, not a gift card. So she overwrote it and I saved $280 :)

I agree that the Disney cards are GIFT cards. What frustrates me is that Target changes the classification. Put the Disney/restaurant cards in ONE category (either Entertainment cards or Gift Cards) and LEAVE them there. That would be clearer and much less frustrating.
