Argh. The 20% off coupon can't be used for Disney Giftcards afterall. :(

I had a feeling it would end up being a store by store decision as to whether a particular cashier or manager would honor it for the Entertainment Cards or not. As a lawyer, I encourage everyone to be persistent and firm in asking the manager to honor it their store today if they want to use the coupon for entertainment cards.

It absolutely could be considered a deceptive practice for Target to honor promotional discounts (Red Card and Pharm Rewards) on those cards for all other promotions and then try to exclude them today without specifically noting it on the coupon or in any of the ads they ran. Assert your rights as a consumer, and try to force them to honor it!! (I'm not encouraging anyone to get nasty with the employees, just be persistent and firm.)

The difference is this coupon did say gift cards so they could argue that it was excluded. The pharmacy reward doesn't have the exclusion written on it.

If your goal here is to have Target remove the 5% Red Card and Pharmacy discounts from entertainment cards then yes by all means. They will address it by removing it, not expanding it.

Agreed.

Glad to hear some people are getting the discount.

Ran to target. Accumulated cards. Nicely spoke to front end supervisor explaining situating and information from here. She went and spoke with someone. We went to an unused register as to not screw up the regular lines.

Result.

$5000 Disney Cards. $3800.

Happy dance. Happy dance. Happy dance.
Were you able to use your red card too?

Asked store to call guest service, they did and still got denied. Guest services are giving different answers depending on people i guesd

Unfortunately, I just had an AWFUL experience trying to get these. I went to Guest Services, handed the associate my gift cards and coupon, explained the situation and asked him to call the manager over. While we were waiting for the manager, he helped another guest. My coupon magically disappeared after that lady left, I think she took it by accident, or he gave it to her. Then once the manager came over, he claimed he never saw it! Plus, the manager refuses to call guest services, says he is the final word at that store, and he says no. He agreed to have security view the camera above us at the service desk, to see that my coupon was indeed there and then given to the other lady. They both acted as though I never even had the 20% coupon to begin with! That is what made me mad. I hope the manager is honest with me once the security camera footage is viewed. It is just not fair that some managers will allow this and others not.

So your manager called "guest services" to get the OK? Also, your discount was 26%, what else did you use over the 20% coupon? Your Pharmacy rewards or your Red Card?

I'm not going to try I don't think. I think people mentioned the Regal card worked so I may try to get a few of those and see what happens. I need to sign up for a red card so I can at least save the 5%. No pharm rewards because we have govt insurance.

20% coupon on $5000

5% red card on $4000

$3800 total

No pharmacy reward.

Has anyone called guest services themselves to see what they said? I was thinking about calling...but I didn't know if it was like Disney, it's all different depending on who you talk to.

They are swamped and really clueless about what's going on. The calls are routing to call centers in India and the Phillipines and no one I spoke with had any idea what to do about my issues (not having to do with what the coupon applied to, but rather what to do about a coupon one cashier deleted before scanning and another coupon -- Pharmacy Rewards -- that the manager refused to return to me because she insisted it was one-time-use, not one-day-pass).

Anyone in the piedmont triad try?

I called my store before I went to and they told me I could use the coupon. After ringing up $1600 of course the coupon would not scan, manager said she was sorry for giving me wrong information and that she couldn't override it because it didn't even give her the option.

This was before someone posted about calling guest relations. Don't know if I should try again later in the week???

Question.... If they are considered gift cards, then we shouldn't get the 5% off with the red card either correct

Boo...thanks for the info!!!
I wish they hadn't let anyone do this...I feel like this is going to end badly. Either way I'm going to go get my cards and at least get the 5% just incase they get rid of the 5% completely after this.

Which, they most likely will.

Tried at two locations in CA. Corona, CA and Norco, CA. Besides the Disney gift cards, I also had Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A, and Subway gift cards. The cashier said it coupon wouldn't work. I asked if she could try, she scanned the coupon and the register said "no scannable items present" (or something to that effect).

So, it doesn't work here :(

No luck in Simpsonville, SC. They said the store manager already clarified that because it says "gift card" on them. I asked why they worked with Rx Rewards and Red Card, which also exclude gift cards, and they couldn't answer. Very friendly, but still has the sting of being a bit "unfair" that it is based on a store by store basis. Still 6 days to go, didn't use it yet because it hasn't worked, so may try a different store tomorrow.

Wonder if there will be an official stance by tomorrow.

That and Rx Rewards work as well. Very inconsistent. Thinking that the result will be in the future Red Card and Rx Rewards will no longer work.

I will try again tomorrow at a different store.

So I called my local target before driving up there since it's a 40 min drive and I talked to a lady at guest relations who said yes i could use 20% off on entertainment cards. I was so excited I hoped in my car and went right then got there got $2,000 in cards went to check out a young kid about 18 he scanned them all then scanned my coup not course it didn't work. So I told him I had called and talked to Pam, this young snotty manager came over and gave my attitude about even trying. I then proceeded to tell her others have gotten it to work at other locations and that I called before I came. Pam then came over and said she miss understood the question when I called and thought that they were asking if it can be used on entertainment like TVs, movies and so forth that's why she said yes. So I showed her several post on dis where ppl have got it to work by calling guest relations and we called with no luck. She wasn't willing to over ride it. She was very nice and agreed with me that they are entertainment cards and the coupon should have been more clear but there was nothing she could do. I also talked with guest relations while I was there at the store with no luck. So after a hour 30 min in the store I sadly left. I knew there was a chance of this not working but after reading on here it worked for several and then calling the store I had my hopes up. Ugh

The catch is, I dont think target calls them entertainment cards... that is the sort of cute way people thought up to explain the issue. They are labeled gift cards in the store.
No, they are labeled Entertainment cards. People didn't just randomly think this up. I took this photo at Target this morning.
