Are You Wearing A Costume To MNSSHP?

Definitely dress up! Last year 9 of us went to MNSSHP on Halloween night. Ages ranged from 23 to 60... all of us kids at heart. We had a great time! My sister spent the summer making our costumes. We were "decked" out as Disney playing cards, sort of like Alice in Wonderland, but each of us had our favorite Disney Character on our card. My DS did a fabulous job hand painting the front of the "cards" on fabric, then she appliqued a castle motif on the back. We were approached by a Disney person who invited us to be in a pre-parade ride down Main Street in a fire truck! Then were given a special place at the end of the parade route from which to watch the parade. For a family of WDW veterans who have been visiting since 1972, this was the experience of a lifetime! It was an opportunity we wouldn't have had if we weren't willing to dress up for Halloween.

That is so cool :cool1:

We went for the first time last year and debated about the costumes and we did not wear them. I was so glad because it was horrible hot out and we would have been miserable in uncomfortable outfits. We bought the MNSSHP tees instead and felt very much in the party mood. There were half and half, half were in costume and half were not.

This year we will get new tees and our 2 nieces are wearing their Minnie Mouse costumes. I wil make sure and bring shorts and tees for them incase they are uncomfortable.

We had plans to wear costumes this year (9/15) but it was too hot and humid. I was going to buy the kids pirates costumes at Downtown Disney but they were very hot costumes and I knew they would be miserable. They were happier with the PoTC t-shirts we bought, with pirate hats, engraved leather eye patches, engraved leather bracelets (from the pirates section of World of Disney store DtD), pirate-ish dogtag things, etc. I had brought along a black & white stripe shirt button down shirt to wear over my white t-shirt with black pants. Skipped the black & white shirt (too much polyester, long sleeves, etc) and skipped the red headband/scarf. I just wore the sash.

My sister still wore most of hers - I think she was pretty hot in it though (also pirate-ish).

My son is going as King Mickey (in Org 13 outfit) from the Kingdom Hearts 2 game. I even got him a special Golden Keyblade off Ebay (don't ask what it cost). Almost got everything fixed on his.

I'm going as just regular Org 13 member without a weapon but I haven't got my drawstrings/zipper fixed yet.

Are masks allowed? Not a full face mask, but the small ones that cover the eyes/nose area only?

We leave tomorrow...woohoo!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

DS, who is 11, has found a Davy Jones costume that he is dying to wear to MNSSHP.
I'm not sure that he will be allowed to wear it because it has a mask that covers the entire head. I would hate to spend that kind of money and he be disappointed when a CM ask him to take it off. :sad1:
DS told me that people could tell that he wasn't with Disney cause he is to short to be the really Davy.
Help what should I do??:confused3

DH and I are going all-out this year....Belle and Her Prince. Here's me...no pics of DH in his costume yet. We'll be there on the 2nd and the 5th...please stop and say hi if y'all see us in the park! :)

So were about to go to disney here in a week. My little brother did not want to wear a costume at all. My mom and I were shopping the other day at target and found these really cute shirts. One says my sister's a witch and the other one says my brother is a monster. So My Mom bought them and when we got back to the house I said "look what I bought for us arent they so cool" mean while my Mom is like good luck... So in the end he's going to wear it! Yea it will be cute.

We are going to our very first MNSSHP on September 29th. There is four of us going as the "Mario Party." We have Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad. We are super excited!

I don't think it's a problem as long as it doesn't make other guests think that it's the real character wandering the parks but I could be wrong. I would suggest talking with cro in regards to this policy.

My DD and I get dressed every year for Halloween MNSSHP. This year I am going as a evil pirate wench and DD is going as a pirate girl. Can't wait to see everyone dressed this year! :cool1:

At MNSSHP on 9/15, there was a guy dressed up like Jack Sparrow and several guests were taking photos with him. It wound up sparking up a confusion on whether or not the face character had come out for the party. Truth was, the character was only in the parade...and it was just a guest dressed up. Disney apparently didn't care. Disney has encouraged dressing up for the party, but has never said anything about face characters. I think they're fine with it. If a costume is good, and it's a known character, they run into the risk of people thinking it's an actual character running around. Disney knows that, but they still haven't restricted it. This is probably the one exception they make to it....because generally speaking, Disney doesn't allow anyone but their hired actors to portray a face character. And I'm speaking from experience as my costuming club marches in the Star Wars Weekends parades and we're not allowed to do any face/main characters.

While true to some extent this isn't totally true. I've known, and humour me on this, some drag queens to dress up like the princesses with high pitched voices and they get turned away at the gates because they are too "believable" and could damage the integrity of the characters.

Well of course there was the debate not too long ago about Disney using a man as one of the "women" for that trolley show on Main Street.

And we saw a man at the party at Cosmic Rays in at LEAST his 40s wearing a Minnie costume...oh yes, dress, stockings... :lmao:

I guess it boils down to whomever they pass by when attempting to get in the park.

KINGDOM HEARTS FANS HERE!!! My wife beat KH2 in 4 days flat.

I KNOW what it cost!!! We looked at them!!! My son has one I made him about a year ago, but I wouldnt DARE let him take it! He'd be fighting "invisible heartless" everywhere and someone would get hurt, because his keyblade is made of heavy wood, steel, and copper! :scared: :faint: But I'm gonna warn ya.... If my son... ahem Sora... sees your sons keyblade.... Be forwarned... He'll get flogged!!! Hes SO into KH. Your son will suddenly have a best friend!

My son is going as Sora. His costume is VERY authentic. If your a KH fan, you'll spot him REALLY quick!

I'm going as a deviled egg (all white, felt yoke on my belly, and devil ears.) Of course Im still considering joining the pirates....

My wife is going as Corpse Bride. (only tweaked a bit; more goth)

Cant wait!

My friend and I are going as Haunted Mansion Ballroom people. We decided on a costume with a dress that was a nice slim one-piece for her, but that was still tattered and gray. My costume looks sort of like the ghost of Jacob Marley, but feels like a light overshirt and sweatpants. They're nice rather elaborate costumes, but are light enough that we won't have to worry about the heat.

We're going on the 19th and 20th, so we got two different costumes each. We'll also be going as Ed Wood Martians (I.E. Giant silver jumpsuit and neckpiece for me, metallic dress with elbow-bands and belt for her).
I'm worried that these will be a little too hot because they're silver-colored, but I think once night settles in, we'll be fine.

I have pictures of us in these, but the boards won't let me post any links until I've posted a certain amount of times.

I realize it's kind of ridiculous to get two costumes for two nights, but Halloween's always been my favorite holiday, and I haven't celebrated it in any way for almost a decade, so I got really into this.

DH and I were going to but in the interest of safety and pairing our travel bags down we decided the kids would dress up and we would wear t-shirts. Mine is Orange with pumpkins on it, and DH is weaing the glow in the dark Haunted Mansion t-shirt. If we have the opportunity to get our faces painted we might do that.

I will be Sorceror Mickey
DD will be an imagineer. White lab coat that says imagineer on it with a Figment puppet
DD will be dressed up like a Cheetah girl

DW won't tell me what she is going to be

My dad said No way is he dressing up. Little does he know we already got him a costume :D
