Are you averse to the 'new' 5-day pass only? Please read and comment...

I have been following this post since last week and also decided to email my concern to Disney. We normally travel every 2-3 years, as we travel from Canada, and are unable to visit more frequently, so an Annual Pass is not an option. Below is my email and the response I received. Maybe there's hope although, the email is still very vague.

Good Morning,

I am in the process of trying to plan my next trip to Disneyland Resort
and it has come to my attention that 5-day park hoppers are the longest
length of park hopper ticket now available. After some more research, I
also discovered it is no longer possible to add days on to the tickets
at the park. I am very disappointed to hear of this as it will
definitely change our vacation plans. We live quite far from Disneyland
so only are able to visit every 2-3 years, but when we come we try to
maximize our length of stay and visit for minimum 7 days with a group of
4-15 people each time we come. If we are unable to stay for that length
of time, we will likely consider other vacation options in the future.
Even though Walt Disney World is a longer flight, the cost isn't that
much more, and the 7-14 day ticket options much better meet our desire
to be immersed in the Disney experience for our vacation versus having
to look at spending alternate days at other venues while in California.

Thank you for your time and I do hope you consider making longer ticket
options available once again, even with signatures, photos or ID
required to prevent fraud, so we can enjoy the parks again at a
leisurely pace and not miss a minute at the parks.

Hello B****,

Thank you for expressing your concern below. It's our hope that we will
be able to offer a longer length of stay ticket again in the future!

Hope to see you at Disneyland in the future. We realize you have
choices, and we appreciate you as a guest!

This is what really needs to happen, but I'm afraid a few people complaining won't hit the news, it will take a lot more than that or some heart wrenching story.

I agree, publicity on this would be great, I might try writing to the links below, and other sources as well, but first, I will write to Disney to ask about the new information that was provided to Beck & the Beast, a few posts down. She stated that they said to her in an email:

So at this this point, I don't think there is a reason take this to the press if they are going to remedy this soon.

I will write to them to ask Disney about this, and see what they say, first.

Edited to add: I sent in my email to Disney, will post an update after I hear back from them.

The LA Times and OC Register have staff who cover the local theme parks so you might try writing to them.

Good links to have, I will follow up on this if I don't get a suitable response from Disney when I write to them again.

Wow that's a great idea....

Yep! :)

That's what I thought too. Talk about reinvigorating the troops.

I'm sure this has been mentioned it Ina Eng read all 18 pages of this thread... But, at WDW, they use some kind of finger print scanner to identify that the person using the ticket is the person assigned to the ticket. This seems like the logical approach to preventing ticket transferability or selling of tickets in other forums.

I personally am not inhibited by the new rule, but it seems silly to me that you would force a ready and willing guest who wants to extend their vacation in your parks, spending money on your food, games, and entertainment, not to mention, potentially hotels, and tell them that they must start the economy of scale over again beyond a 5 day visit.

There are some things that I think WDW has figured out that DLR needs to catch up on. It's frustrating.

Another one is the non-expiring ticket that WDW offers but DLR does not. Plus you can use WDW tix at DLR but not the other way around. ::confused::

/
I know of several families from my children 's school, non Disney fanatics, that have done 6-7 days at DL. A few days ago, I was talking to a good friend who is considering DL for their next family vacation. They have gone to DL before, 3 years ago and did 7 days. She was quite shocked that the limit is 5 days now. Though she is still considering Disney, she 's now looking at other options (since they like a week for vacations) as well., and waiting to just go WDW when the kids are older. So instead of spending money on DL and a later WDW trip. They will probably forgo the DL trip.

Personally, coming all the way from New Zealand a 5 day pass is NOT enough! I'm in the works of planning a trip to Disneyland next fall and am planning on 7 days full of Disney parks goodness! At the end of the day, if push came to shove, we will just be buying a 5 day park hopper pass and a 2 day park hopper pass. This just pushed the cost up on an already expensive holiday. However...Disney is so worth it :)

Well Kylie, the reason I am upset is because I am booked at the Grand California Hotel for 12 days and instead of being able to go into the parks for 8 days...I am limited to 5.I have already spent thousands on my hotel,a couple thousand on my flights and am budgeting $150 a day to spend in the parks.I have scrimped and saved for 3 years to pay for this holiday and now I get to spend 5 days in the parks. So am I upset....yeah... you could say that.

Totally understand, it's just I have never heard anyone complain anywhere but here, so I was surprised is all. On the trip advisor forum, they also didn't seem to be concerned, so it was just an observation.

This site is for everything disney! Thats why a lot of comments, concerns, tips, etc is voiced here. Your workplace and tripadvisor is only two places. This site is dedicated to everything Disney. Good, bad and the ugly. Here people can find out the latest and greatest and also not so greatest. Here is where people can come together and converse about everything disney. Just because trip advisor and your workplace hasn't mentioned anything about how disappointing it is that disney isn't offering 6+ day hoppers doesn't mean that there aren't thousands of other fans hoping they would bring them back. As well as all other fans that aren't part of this site that are complaining at the tickets booths right now about not being able to upgrade for a reasonable price. Just saying that there are probably many more out there, not a part of this site or any other site for that matter that don't say anything or voice their opinion or complaint.

I was just curious as to why this is the only forum that seems to complain about it. I am certainly not a Disney expert or anything. I was just wondering how is seems to be such a big deal here, yet at work there has been no asking about it, complaints or anything. Even trip advisor seems to not realize it's a problem.
Like I said, I don't have much of an opinion, was just wondering where all these people are coming from, because it certainly isn't where I work, or trip advisor for that matter.

My guess is that not many people, outside of the people that frequent this forum or other Disney fan sites, actually knew one could upgrade a 6 day ticket to a 7 or 8 day ticket for a mere $5 per person.

I can understand what Kylie is saying because I suspect it's pretty uncommon for people to come to SoCal for a lengthy vacation and stay the entire time at DL without visiting anywhere else. If people are coming to SoCal for a week or more they will normally want to see other things.

3 years ago my local CAA didn't know they had anything longer than a 6 day pass....and she was a Disney specialist. If the travel agents don't know about it....how can they sell it?

Hi Kylie! Welcome to the Dis!

As others have stated this is a much more concentrated Disney site. For example, this site has nearly 100 different threads about Disneyland proper (not counting the separate Southern California board) that have been commented on today. Trip advisor has 16 threads in their Anaheim forum that have been commented on today. They're not really a specialist Disney site, and their traffic is much, much slower.

I also think that because even the 6 day ticket option was taken away so recently, it hasn't quite trickled down to as much of the general public yet.

This is going to be my first time at Disneyland for me, little sister, little brother and mom. It's for graduation for my college and sister's high school. We are very excited. I have worked for 3 years at our local AMA in souther Alberta. We sell passes for Disneyland, Disneyworld, etc. I am just a receptioninst, but if people only want passes I can sell them. Anything more and I have to refer them to one of the agents in the office. I have never, ever sold a 6 or 7 day pass in all my year's there. We are only going for 4 days at Disneyland, so we were disappointed that the 5 days for the price of 3 were discontinued, but would never have thought about a longer pass. I only post this because I have been reading everything I can on this and other sites and was very surprised to hear anyone complaining about those passes no longer being available. I asked some of the agents in the office and they were also surprised since they never sell them either. We are not close and have to fly there, so it's not like we can go frequently (in my case, never before). I dont' have much of an opinion, only that I was shocked to hear people complain so much here. I also watch trip advisor and noone on there complains about it at all. It makes me wonder if there are only a few people complaining, but over and over since it doesn't seem to be a big deal anywhere else but here.
Just a thought.

IMO, you can't compare guest trends before June 15th, 2012 with guest trends after June 15th, 2012. Cars Land changed things that much. WDW guests are coming to DLR in droves to see Cars Land, and bringing their longer vacation habits with them.

I hope those that have emailed since receive more re-assurance that the longer passes will once again be an option. I had emailed using the link in the post on page 1, and received a response back from Disney Lead Management later that same day. I just hope now that the change comes quickly for those that have trips coming up soon this fall. *fingers crossed*

Regrettably, Disney may be pricing themselves out of my vacation plans. Ticket prices already went up.

Most understand ticket price increases. But this is different. It's the removal of an option that many Disney fans loved ... the ability to upgrade passes to 6, 7, and 8 days. Cutting it down to just 5 days. While at the same time saying that Cars Land is intended to get people to extend a 5 day vacation to a 6 day vacation.
