are ticks an issue?

Hi all!
We are headed back to WDW this September and will be staying at the cabins for the first time.

I love the idea of the kids being able to run around outside to blow off some energy, and they are super excited "to explore the woods" . One concern I have is ticks. Is this an issue? Maybe Disney sprays for them?

One of my kids is an honest tick-magnet. All four of my kids can be outside playing together in the same area and she's the one coming in with multiple ticks on her. Wondering if I'm going to be having to inspect every inch of her whenever she goes outside there.

We have never had any issues with them in the common areas. But, one time we ventured into the woods really off the beathen path so to speak (this place is now fenced off) and sure enough hubby picked up a tick.

So I think you'll be fine as I doubt you'll serously be taking the kids off any of the designated trails.

We've never seen any ticks personally, but agree some people seem more susceptible to them than others. Spray around her ankles with insect spray to be on the safe side.

Ticks, I grew up in the Ozark Mountains and was surrounded by woods full of tickets and chiggers (my skin is crawling even now just thinking about it) and we found there is always a chance you won't find all the little b@&*#$^s crawling on you. What we did was to take a cap full of bleach and add it to at least 16 oz of water in a spray bottle. While standing in the shower, but before you turn on the water, spray yourself all over (except near the eyes) with the bleach water solution. Ticks HATE bleach and will drop off. Go ahead and shower normally, but be careful as the bleach will make the shower floor slippery.

Goodness! Don't do this for people with sensitive/dry skin. My DH & kids would be on fire whereas it probably wouldn't bother me.
