Are they still seating only 1 family/party per table?

Please don't turn this into another vax argument/debate. Otherwise this post is going to get locked like the countless others...

Now that Dream is back to sharing, will a party of 4 get their own table or do they do 6 and 8 together? My family sharing would just be awkward for everyone (we're super introverted lol) and I have zero desire to share things like bread, or sit near, people I don't know and that was pre-covid too.

I think the issue may be that this is a rapid change by Disney and people may have booked with the previous policy of one family per table. It was a surprise to the person who posted about the Dream this weekend.
As much as I wish that was true I don’t think they will change it back.

You could just put in a request to be sure. When we’ve been 4 or higher we’ve always been at our own table. We usually get grouped when we’re a couple.

Cleaned this thread up from posts that went against the covid policy - please remember to try and keep the conversation to policy and not opinion, thank you!

Even as 4 it is just a request because they have 6 and 8 tops.

I travelled as a party of 4 (myself and my 3 kids) and we were sat with another family of 4. Luckily we all got along great and my son (tall teen) even had a blast playing with their 8yr old son in the pool one day. Every time we saw them outside of dinner the boys would give high fives. It's hit or miss but in my 6 cruises (other than 2 of them that our group was so big) we've always had great table mates. I'm still friends with people from my first cruise in 2014.

But it's all about what you like and there is nothing wrong with asking for a single table.

yes, I’ve been at those 6 and 8 tops many times. Just last month they sat my husband and I at a 6 top table in AP. Boy we had lots of room.

Our last cruise our party of 3 was put with a party of 5. It was fine and DD talked to the other girl her age, but I’m requesting a private table from now on

I wonder what they are going to do with solo cruisers. I am going solo on the Dream this fall. I am fine with whatever, but I imagine that they will stick us all together like usual.

Solo dump.

Or put you at a table with 2 pairs of people.

I didn't read the thread about the changes, but is this going forward after a particular date, or is it effective immediately? (Seating families together with others).
I'm hoping they would somehow communicate that with passengers with cruises coming up shortly so they can request or modify their seatings.

Edited to Add: Ugh, I just read the thread...it is effective immediately. I'm just annoyed because I assumed we would be seated alone as a group. My DD has some severe food allergies that could affect her if seated with others who order certain things, so we always request our own table. Now I have to try to contact DCL (again) which seems impossible at the moment. I spent over 3 hours last time on the phone. I'm usually go with the flow but this is just ugh.

As I understand it, immediately. As the (pre-COVID) default has been seated with others, I doubt they would make an announcement.

I am solo on The Magic September Norwegian Fjords. I have emailed my Dreams Unlimited agent to request a private table. I'll get back to you and update after the cruise :)

I think this will quickly become an issue as most diners are going to wants or expect a private table. Request can’t all be filled. I have an allergy and my son is autistic so a request is very serious for us. I wonder how they are going to handle the influx of diners wanting private tables…

I have an allergy

They will handle that the same way they do all allergies. You'd have your own bread/dip (if applicable) and your meal would be prepared and brought from the allergy kitchen. I'm gluten-free and peanut allergic (ingestion only, but they don't know that) and I've still been seated with others.

If it's airborne, that's going to be an issue wherever because they don't have an allergen-free scent zone.

I'm not trying to start a debate~
There's a difference between an I just can't eat that allergy and sitting next to someone at the same table eating the things you may be more severely allergic to. Seating a party for allergies is always something DCL has done and should continue to be given priority. It's the standard that they set for families and why many choose to sail with them.

I emailed last week to request our own (knowing it's nothing more than a request) for our 5/14 cruise, and they replied that they are still seating parties separately now anyway. Could change by then, who knows, but if you don't want to wait on the phone to have them note the request, I recommend emailing them and getting the request noted.

OK BUT they do not have an "allergy zone" an they aren't going to tell someone at the table next to you that they can't order fish because there's an allergy at the table next to them (not the same table). It's not going to happen, and you need to be prepared that you might smell your allergen.
