We have one night at CC the night before a cruise. The only plans we have is MAYBE doing AK after hours that night since it became available...no parks other than that. We won't be at the resort earlier than 2PM and will be leaving next day by 930, so this is a really short term deal. That said, is there anything I should request to get the best impression of CC, or to avoid any rooms? Believe it or not the one time we stayed at the "old" VWL we did get the dumpster view.

Copper Creek Villas will either have views of Silver Spring Pool or Boulder Ridge/Quiet Pool, there isn't a bad view at all. More seasoned CCV travelers can answer if you ask on https://www.disboards.com/threads/•the-official-copper-creek-villas-cabins-owners-lovers-group•.3631019/. See the post #4 for the maps/locations of the rooms and the types.

I will note the only major considerations I'm aware of are first floor, dormer type balconies, noise levels, and alternate layout for the studio. First Floor rooms for studios are mainly tubs (booking "Deluxe Studio" vs "Deluxe Studio with Walk-In Shower") so if you booked a tub room you are likely on the first floor and have a patio and if you booked a walk-in shower you will be on floors 2+. Dormer Type balconies will be a solid wall instead of a railing and those occur on highest floor per section (depending on location that will be floor 6 or 7). Noise levels could be if you get one of the few studios that open to the main lobby of WL and during opening times for Whispering Canyon it can be loud and if you get close to the geyser/bay lake it can get loud with the EWP an geyser erupting (though personally none of these ever bothered me). The final request that is popular is an alternate studio which has the layout of the old deluxe rooms of the WL, basically a studio with a separate living and sleeping area, these are possible to only request if you booked a tub.

I don't think there is a dumpster view at CCV, but you will only be in the room for about 15 hours, does it matter?
The reason we do the one-night stays is to decide whether it is worth coming back. We did one night at VGF last year and I would love to go back for a longer stay, based on what I saw (no parks then either). I'd like to get a good representation.
We did get a shower room; that was all that was available at 7 months. So I guess it won't be first floor! Based on the responses I think I'll just roll the dice and let it be assigned.

I think the rooms off of the lobby on the fifth and sixth floors, rooms x100, x102, and x104 don't have much of a balcony view, unless you like a bus stop view. However you can look at lobby right outside your front door.

These shouldn't be a problem for the poster since they are 1 & 2 Bedrooms. If I'm correct all the studios pretty much look at one of the two pools.

Not exactly correct. We stayed in room 1150 this last trip and there was no view at all. As a matter of fact, we were looking out directly at a stone wall. We didn't really mind because a view is not that important to us. I think the odd numbered rooms on the other side may have a view of the Copper Creek pool, but I don't think any of the even rooms have a view of the other pool.

That is true the first floor rooms on the Boulder Ridge side look at the wall that encloses the pool. Though the OP has a shower room which won’t be on the first floor.

We had requested a room with a "view of Bay Lake" to watch the water parade. When we got there, we were surprised to have a first floor room with a view of literally a stone wall. Come to find out, there are very view studios with any views at all and most all studios are on the first floor, not many on upper floors.

While we were initially disappointed, I have to admit that it worked out well being on that side. It was so quiet, it felt heavenly. We had our own little "front lawn" and it felt so private. If we wanted so see the parade, we just had to walk out our patio door and turn left and we had a great view. That's the benefit of the first floors in my opinion - being able to walk out the patio door and be right near geyser point/pools etc.

1121 and 2119 are basically just views of bush. Higher floors with the same room number have a nice pool view. All Boulder Ridge facing views are basically the same just from different vantage points. 2111 and 3111 are basically a scrub brush view with views of the lobby behind that. Advantages of all of these rooms are they are closer to the lobby and elevators.

There are zero direct views of Bay Lake from any CCV(except Grand Villas, a 2 bedroom lock-off and a rare studio on the 7th floor). Any views would be angled views off of your balcony.

Most are on the first floor (besides 7 I believe) if you reserve a tub room. If you reserve a shower Deluxe Studio (two different booking categories and half the studios) none are on the 1st floor.

Yeah, it was not something we even asked before we bought. It wouldn't have made a difference in our decision to buy at all, but it was a little disconcerting to learn that on our first trip. Bad me for not investigating where the studios were - I assumed they were scattered throughout. Turns out though, we really, really like the first floor and the option of walking out to the pool right from our patio, vs. dealing with elevators, etc in wet bathing suits. I am a first floor convert now. ;-)

Those brick walls on the first floor look great on the outside but they are not great viewing patios. I expect since most are near heavily traveled paths by guests they might provide some privacy.

Are the rooms dark because of the "brick" walls on the patios?
